The influx of fresh Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party for them. So some recreational activities are in order. All Lost Souls will receive a message from their respective faction leaders with orders to go have some fun.

Shuten - WEENIES ON PARADE

Shuten Clan newbies will be summoned to the Arena, which has been set up with a very different kind of fight than usual. The members of the Shuten Clan do nothing by half-measures. Partying, drinking, and eating are all encouraged to excess. This time they're inviting new recruits to test their mettle in various eating contests. You'll need nerves of steel and a stomach of iron to succeed. Hot dogs, marshmallows, pizza, lobster rolls, breakfast cereals, rice, and more are all on offer.

See how much you can eat and try not to get sick! Competitive eating is a messy, disgusting affair, regardless of the emergency buckets stationed strategically throughout the building.

If you're feeling especially ballsy, you can take on the biggest onis and other youkai by teaming up with your fellow Shutens. They're all confident enough to take that bet.

Glory, prize money, and antacids to the winners. Shame to the losers – they'll be run through town in weenie costumes.

Tamamo - ALL NIGHT LONG

The newest Tamamo recruits are summoned to a local gymnasium. Strangely, rather than sports equipment laid out on the court, there are a number of light futons, blankets, and pillows. Everyone will be sorted into one of two yukata patterns – one purple and one blue – and sent to their respective sides of the court to lie down in bed and pull up the covers.

It is then that the referee will explain the rules of competitive pillow fighting. When the whistle blows, jump up and grab one of the authorized pillows at the center of the court. It's a game much like dodgeball, but the goal is to hit the opposing team's king with a pillow from your half of the court. Team members use blankets and sometimes their bodies to protect their king.

There will be a few rounds, and you can rotate who is king at your discretion. Protect them with your life! Or whatever. Star players will receive a bonus and a coupon to one of the best Tamamo spas.

When the competitive stuff is done, the sleepover proper will begin. There will be liquor, sodas, and light snacks for everyone while movies are projected onto a screen late into the morning. The movies range from classic dramas and romances to outrageous yokai comedies.

Sutoku - GROSSERY GANG

The Alliance has found themselves in the possession of an entire truckload's worth of reject children's toys. Ever the opportunist, the Daitengu has assigned the project of inventorying and trashing the particularly offensive ones to the new guys.

Of course, you're expected to play with a few of them as well. Maybe one of them is decently fun, and they could sell the rest, you know? Many of these toys are gross out bathroom humor in nature, and spit water randomly at anyone who loses their round. The Daitengu has thoughtfully provided a selection of alcohol to make this game a little more adult friendly. Toys that lack the appropriate spitting mechanism can still be played over shots, really, go nuts.

While you 'work', there will be plenty of motivating music piped into the warehouse. The sound quality is not great, but they tried?

Everyone who sorts through a decent amount of toys will get a little extra pay, although who is really paying that much attention to who's doing what here?

Enma - BREAKING THE ICE

Welcome to the Department of the Enma. New Lost Soul recruits will be summoned to a large conference room in Kaigo no Bou, which has been outfitted with a variety of buffet table offerings and tables which seat between 5 - 6 people comfortably. You are invited to fill your plates at your discretion, the craft services people are used to feeding bottomless yokai stomachs and the food will not run out.

Clipboards with a variety of icebreaker questions have been provided at each table. The pens have assuredly been firmly affixed to the clipboard. Please return them together.

Every 30 minutes Captain Shiki will blow her whistle to signal that you are to migrate to another table with fresh companions. You are, indeed, being forced to get to know your coworkers, lucky you. This isn't tedious at all.

Pick a few of the questions below to answer, and get chatting. Or Captain Shiki may come over to stare at you with intense disapproval. You can't get away with just zoning out to that sweet smooth jazz playing overhead!

All Factions - THE GIFT OF SONG

Did you all enjoy having some of your wishes granted? Well, so did a flock of those annoying magpie! They asked for the gift of music. These feathered nuisances, however, have fallen in love with an old school metal band. That is all they will be singing for the foreseeable future! Different members of the flock have taken up different instrumentals and vocals for the track, spread out across electrical wires and rooftops, singing their favorite rockin' tune to the skies!

Lost Souls have been asked to please catch them and get them to knock it off, they are truly annoying everyone, across all factions.

Should you catch these musical magpies, and not one of the other clans, they will tell you their sorry tale! They love this band, but the group broke up years ago. All the magpie want is for their favorite old dudes to be reunited to jam with them, one more time!

The old dudes are out there in the city, but who knows why they broke up and if they can even be convinced out of retirement. Good luck, if you succeed your boss will give you a favorable bonus, which would be a great boon to a newbie just getting settled.

[ Really? REALLY? He's been asked to do some demeaning things in this faction - the apologizing on behalf of the Daitengu comes to mind - but inspecting toy toilets? What did this even have to do with their usual MO? For someone that takes themselves as seriously as Junpei does, this is beyond embarrassing.

The entire time he's begrudgingly testing the toys, he has his best 'I am an eighteen year old GROWN UP and too mature for this nonsense' sour face on. ]

I can't believe they pulled me away from the theater for -- ACK!

[ Welp. There's a spray of water right between the eyeballs. ]

THE GIFT OF SONG

[ Catching the musical birds is only a few shades less embarrassing than testing the toy toilets (the toylets?).

Junpei does not have any abilities. For various reasons he's remained at his basic capabilities as a human, and it is at its most frustrating when he's assigned tasks like this. While some might be able to fly, or move at very fast speeds, or any number of tricks that would come in handy gathering the birds. Hell, he wasn't even especially athletic to start with! He's a little movie nerd!

Thus, he's quite a sad sight, just carrying around a sack and fruitlessly trying to sneak up on the magpies with little to no luck.

In his frustration, he actually makes a leap at one, and ends up with a face full of dirt and no bird.

He can be heard muttering to himself as he pushes his now mud caked front half up off the ground: ]

A. Shuten : The Weenie Parade
[So here's the problem. Tsubaki's small. Really small. Five foot even and barely 110 pounds soaking wet, small. Small small small small small small small. Thus it follows she cannot, in fact, eat much and that she has the alcohol tolerance of an emaciated squirrel. A weenie costume seems almost inevitable, but for two things.

One, she really fucking doesn't want to wear a weenie costume.

Two, she found tamagoyaki.

So Tsubaki can be found with several plates of rolled egg, some of them with filling, just...consuming. Egg after egg after egg. She just took the soy sauce she was given to dip them in like a shot and slammed it down. ]

Who's next?

B. The Gift of Song
[...see, the thing is, Tsubaki is actually kind of digging this? Kind of bobbing to the music, anyway. But she's considering the magpies up in the electrical wires, and the lightning sprite in her hand...

It'd knock them out, but she's concerned about what happens when the bird hits the ground. So now she's started approaching people, regardless of faction, to help with her plan.]

[ Is it a drink? Some object? Sen is the kind of person to tell what time it is depending on where the sun is in the sky. ]

[It's not like Metal ended up at the buffet table on purpose - he knows it's a waste of time given he's a machine - but possibly sometime between being brought into the conference room and getting caught up in everyone else walking in he just sorta ended up there. It's hard when you're 3ft tall and can't fly anymore, really.

But he does linger for a moment to at least inspect it. Food is just one of those things that have always remained a mystery to him. If he could eat, what would he even enjoy? What would it taste like? Would his tastes match his template or would he have a palate of his own? Sure, he could describe how things taste like on account of data, but there's no substituting experience with hard facts. It's the difference between reading about eating a meal and actually eating it yourself.

As a consequence of this little internal train of thought, you may end up stood beside a robot who's standing there like he's going to avail of the buffet but never actually moves to do it.

Or maybe he's just standing in the way of food you want.

[Unsurprisingly he's sat at his initially chosen table with no food because, y'know, robot, so it's given him plenty of time to read through the questions presented. He considers it a thorough waste of time, but after he's through with it, it does prompt at least one comment.]

Time travelling once without a means to return would be foolhardy.

[Chasing small defenseless animals is actually very much within his wheelhouse. In fact, it's a little nostalgic given it was the first ever mission handed down to him by his creator - subjugating helpless critters. Man, the memories.

Unfortunately this is a very different beast, as his entire skillset's been wiped which includes his jet engine nixing his flight and superspeed. In the middle of a chase, you might just witness Metal running after a bird at an average, unimpressive pace, but he suddenly leaps...!

His turbine whirrs, the telltale sign of his imminent propulsion into speeds that could break the sound barrier...!

And then...!

It only ignites for a split second, propelling him a few feet higher into the air, before shutting off instantly. He's so caught off guard by its limited functionality that he claws helplessly in the air before he slams into the ground fact first, his entire torso following soon after with a pretty weighty impact; that's nearly 300lbs of sturdy metal. He spends a moment face down in the dirt, but his head snaps up to the magpie above as it begins belting out a tune from its newfound perch, safe from the clawed clutches of the robotic hedgehog.]

Celebrate your freedom while you can, bird.

[ IT'S HIM.

donnie actually engages his ninjocity for once, following along behind (metal) sonic as quietly as he can possibly manage. besides the expected noise of his sheer weight colliding with the different types of surfaces encountered along his chase, sonic's footsteps are surprisingly quiet.

it's not until he leaps into the air and donatello hears the tell-tale VRRR of a radial engine before it abruptly cuts out that sonic makes any real noise, the loud KA-TUNK of his solid body once again landing rattling nearby trashcans.

so, something wrong with the turbine. not physical obstruction, by the sound of it. opposite force? there hadn't been any wind, nor any accompanying smells of the engine burning itself out. old lubrication and oils would leave residue, scents when heated, it would be obvious. what could it be?

donnie is so concentrated that he doesn't even remember to duck back behind the corner.]

[Wow. This is so exciting. Clearly you can see how excited Moriarty is, with his perma-frown and clown makeup around the eyes. He's looking over the list with an unimpressed air, before it seems like a thought occurs to him, and a thin knife of a smile crosses over his face.]

2. ENMA - TAKING A BREATHER

[Much later during the event, one can find Moriarty in the corner, sipping gently from a glass of wine as he watches...whatever mess this Enma event has turned into. To whoever is nearby, he'll give a little sniff.]

I don't care for this. [And another sip.] Are you having a fun time, yourself? Learned anything of worth?

3. All - FACE THE MUSIC (NERD MODE)

[There's a lot of ruckus out here. The magpies, singing their tunes, are clearly having a blast with this young man, who looks...a little different from his usual strict look, what with his oversized coat and...giant ruler? Yeah, that's a giant ruler.]

[He's currently swinging at a bunch of magpies in clear annoyance with the giant ruler. Yay for math weapons? He's quite peeved, though, voice cracking a little as he yells at the chaotic choir.]

Oh, do shut up! Let me be! I really have no time for this-!!

[ Sen is not the athletic sort at all. He's very thin and his legs look like sticks. It doesn't stop him from trying to play anyway, hurling pillows at the other side. For anyone who gets hit, there's no real power behind Sen's throws, so just expect it to hit your feet without any grand fanfare. Expect him to scurry away like a child caught doing something bad though.

Or at some point, you might see a futon moving sluggishly across the battlefield. Someone is clearly under it though... until they just stop moving. ]

ii. (tamamo) afterparty

[ It's free food, so despite Sen's constitution, he's always seen eating some small snack. He has a small bottle of liquor next to him as he watches the movie, but his attention is clearly divided between that and him trying to build something like a card tower, but made out of snacks that resemble cheez-its. He's making decent progress! However, he ends up quietly sneezing, which flings the cheez-it cracker from his hand upwards and sorry, but you may now have a cracker in your hair.

Alternatively, Sen is starting to feel tired, so he's borrowing someone's lap to use as a pillow. He won't be sleeping, but here he is, being a nuisance. ]

iii. (OTA) the gift of heavy metal

[ This is Sen's first time experiencing heavy metal as music, and he seems fascinated that the magpies are so in sync with different parts of the instrumentals. However, the fascination wears off pretty quickly, so he tries to catch one. Sen is trying to beckon one to come over as he stretches his arms out towards them. Please come rest on his arms.

None of them take the bait except one magpie, who decided that it would be a better idea to nest into Sen's white hair. Sen would say this is a success except this magpie carries the part of the lead vocalist. Every time Sen makes an attempt to get it off his head, it sings even louder to the point of Sen's ears hurting. Sen tried despite that, but then it pecked as his hands. It's deterred Sen from plucking the bird out of his hair and now he has a bird on his head and bandaged fingers.

If you're passing by, Sen gives you a rather hopeless look. If you look and walk away even faster, you bet he will try to catch up. Help. ]

[ The battlefield is a vicious place, even when it's full of pillows and blankets with prints of ducks and foxes on them. Chongyun takes it quite seriously, intent on using the opportunity as training to further his skills. Dodge, throw, kneel, block. All useful in real life.

He doesn't notice the futon sluggishly crossing the battlefield. At first, anyway. His focus is on grabbing pillows and chucking them across the way, trying to catch their opponents while they're busy trying to block a different attack. He steps to the right, where he thought was clear minutes ago, but instead ends up tripping on the edge of a mysterious futon.

Off balance, he goes down, and bodily flops right on top of it.

_{[ Nothing feeds into his fighting spirit more than a healthy competition, and the moment Akira found out what sort of mingling game he would be partaking in, he arrives shirtless and in a cheap pair of sweatpants. It was suspicious that he decided to partake in all of this half dressed, but he really isn't the only Shuten member who is doing this. Akira had a small trick up his sleeve; he knew his stomach was larger if he transformed into his larger, demon form, and maybe he'd like to show off his demon form as a surprise to his new brothers and sisters. His body is tingling from excitement of having a competition, much like when he's ready for a physical fight, and he piles an assortment of food onto his plate high, grinning eagerly to the person next to him. ]}

b. SHUTEN MINGLE (cw: emeto) —

<sub>[ A bit overzealous and eager to impress those around him, catch Akira utilizing one of these conveniently placed bins to lose all of the food and drink he's consumed. He fought it as much as he could, but in the end, he's still half human that is getting used to the relatively new demonic body he possesses. It's a brief reminder to himself that he isn't as invincible as he thinks he is sometimes.

Comfort him? Or maybe you're also utilizing the bin next to him. Weakly, Akira surfaces, sweat trickling from one of his brows. ]</sub>

[Conference rooms, catered meals, a drink in one hand and a slightly nicer dress. The music is a bit much, but amusing in its own way. She was a teenager in the 80s, she's seen The Bodyguard –– what's not to like about what youkai consider office part appropriate? It could be a good evening.

And then she sees the questions.

Kim's expression is calm and studious as she looks at the clipboard. These are questions she would consider mortifying, too intimate for any work setting, this included. Some feel mawkish, too bizarre –– what adult has a favourite cartoon character? Do the fifteen year old gangsters here still watch cartoons?

She looks at the clock, and at the people around the table. Six people, thirty minutes –– five minutes apiece, including room for discussion and banter back and forth. Most of these can be glossed over. While everyone at her first table looks over the clipboard, she crosses out various questions with a pen, ruling them out as talking points. She looks at what she has left:

Kim glances overhead at the magpie, at its warbling throat. It sings at top volume, and she frowns deeper as it goes on, and on. These are the birds they've been instructed to catch; how to do that, Kim has no idea.

[There are a lot of questions on this list Metal considers a waste of time, if only because much of his life experience doesn't translate to having answers for over half of them. Any questions related to a traditional upbringing - talk of pets, homes, favourite entertainment - all things he has no experience with, nor things he has ever even thought about. It's really how he feels a lot about this gathering, really.

But if only to keep Shiki off his back given he's been a particularly uncooperative participant up until now in their small talk group activity, he begrundingly stares down at the list in extended silence when Kim asks him to start them off.

[In general, Tsuna comes off as a little bit nervous and overwhelmed. He's still getting to know people after all, and establishing familiarity with anything is being worked on. He's probably knocked over a few things, like pens and clipboards off the table, or jostled some glasses of water.]

[Tsuna spends a long time frowning at this question, before ultimately deciding not to answer. He doesn't look thrilled but you might need a higher level of friendship to unlock this answer.]

Um, well, I guess an ancestor of mine...I was kind of dealing with some family stuff before all this, and I guess I just want to know a bit more about him.

[Tsuna visibly brightens at this and a smile appears on his face.]

I really like going to summer festivals with my friends! We always go as a big group, and there's a really nice place to watch the Fireworks!

I dunno if it's anything too special, but I guess I was named after a shogun. A lot of people in my family are. My Dad's Iemitsu and the ancestor I mentioned before was Ieyasu...

[Cool, a social event with lots of people gathered together in one room. This is Zelgadis's nightmare. Dressed head-to-toe in white, with his hood and scarf pulled over his face, he does his best to avoid any unnecessary attention as he stands on the sidelines and watches the others in silence.

It's not until later that he seems to relax just a little bit. Most people's eyes are on the movie screen, and if nothing else, there's booze. He grabs a zabuton and a bottle of sake and finds a quiet spot to sit and watch... whatever this movie is. There's a glimmer of fascination in his visible eye: whatever the content, this man's never seen an actual movie before. He studies it as if trying to mentally puzzle out how it all works.]

[ BIRDS BE JAMMIN' - ALL ]

[Up on a rooftop somewhere in the city, Zelgadis has set up a number of small cages with an assortment of seeds laid inside for bait. They're trapped; rigged to close once a small animal wanders inside. He then sits himself on the far side of the roof, sitting in silence for a long stretch of time, still as a statue.

After a long time, he finally hears the faint clink of a cage door closing and the desperate flapping of wings, but when he goes to check the trap, he only finds what looks like a common sparrow. As he lifts up the cage containing the small bird, looking out at the other, untouched cages, he sighs.]

[ if someone had woken crow up this morning and gone "hey, guess what you'll be doing later today?" the words "competitive pillow fight" would have never crossed his mind in a million years. yet here he is. at a competitive, clan wide pillow fight.

crow notably has good aim. for a guy lobbing pillows around, it's obvious he has some experience with projectile weaponry of some description. he's aware of his surroundings, and able to move while aiming his throws with pretty damn good accuracy when accounting for all the chaos around him and pillows flying around. in fact, linger for too long and you might just find a pillow flying directly at you. ]

[ later, once all the frantic energy of the pillow fight has calmed down, and everyone is settled with drinks and movies, crow can be found at the back of the gymnasium. he's propped up against the wall, a little futon-and-pillow nest set up for him to rest in. there's a drink at his side, and some snacks nearby.

seeing as how he has enough snacks around him for like, three people. but he is very much on his own, just crunching away on some sort of cookie-type object. ]

[ Being a no-star rank tenured Sutoku is...a little weird, sometimes. It affords Tama enough space to do things like text for twenty minutes during the initial discovery of what Sutoku is doing this time, but it doesn't afford him much in the way of answers. Still, he's trying to bop around and be helpful to newer faces. ]

I mean...having everyone get together to laugh about, and then trash some useless stock that can't be sold...that might give the right sort of "vibe" of what the Sutoku Alliance is about.

one could simply throw out the toys. that would be one way to deal with them, tidy and no fuss. but at the same time, she sees someone dealing with them with a decisive strike from a wooden mallet, rendering it unsalvageable. and so it is that when they've stepped away, she steps in, quietly picking up the hammer. one of these is particularly irritating, with the beeping unable to be stifled, and before she knows it, she brings the mallet down on the toy, cutting it off and breaking the plastic. it takes a few hits before it's completely destroyed, but now...

again. again, because it is filling her with a sense of controlled calm to do this, to bring the hammer down on the broken toys, to shatter them into nothing more than trash now. away with you. if they're supposed to be playing with them, then Emily in her own way is "playing," with an intense look and a steady hand. still, though, she does feel eyes on her, and looks up, quickly schooling herself into nothing but mild politeness.]

[of course, one can't purge the stress from their system forever. so it is that later, when things have at least gotten into full swing and it seems to be going well enough, that she'll duck out. not too far yet, there's still obligations, but she has a glass of ice cold water and fresh air, and Emily feels restored from it. hey, she'd tried this time, so the Daitengu can't find fault with her having fun.

it's when someone else comes away from the gathering, with that telltale cast of simply needing a break, that she speaks up. soft enough to ignore if they want, but still there if they'd like.]

[ Majima has been possessed by a giant snake for a long time now. He knows there are some things that it is not worth arguing with Chijoku about. Food and liquor being top among those concerns. When Chijoku says that this is his challenge, Majima rolls his good eye back but in the end... Yeah, sure. Get it, big guy.

He takes a wooden mask out of its sling inside his jacket, it has one eye closed and is detailed with serpent scale and winding negative space in the shape of a serpent.

Transforming in this direction is relatively easy: a swirl of smoke, the spiraling knit of bone and flesh and then scale. The serpent is imposing inside the Arena space, one-eyed and grinning. ]

He is also taking his own sweet goddamn time strolling up to the centre line like he has never heard of the word "urgency". Any pillows that fly his way in that initial flurry he sidesteps, until he finally finds himself in a position to pick up a weapon for himself. ]

Assassin, Sasaki Kojirou. [ He bows with two pillows in hand.

Manners are important in any duel. Besides, they're here to introduce themselves to each other, aren't they? ]


2. THE GIFT OF SONG [OTA]

[ Kojirou has, compared to most of his fellow Lost Souls, taken a slightly different path. There are no traps on him, nor nets, and he is certainly not in a hurry to chase after them.

In fact, he is the opposite. Despite carrying a sword on his back, the Assassin has decided to put that set of skills to good use and seem as non-threatening as possible. Tranquility seems to radiate from him as he steps towards the magpies, carefully making sure not to disturb them in any way.

For their part, the birds seem to realise this, as they allow Kojirou to approach. After all, what danger could this guy be to a bunch of birds? ]

You know, victory is not something the Buddha can grant you. You must find it within yourself.

[ Yes, he had decided to debate song lyrics with a bird. ]

[Rhea'li, on the other hand, is on blue. He's a short, under 5'3" man with feline-like ears and tail and has never had a pillow fight in his life. So of course he's participating.

He is kind of enjoying the novelty of not being known, so he hasn't been taking point like he otherwise would. Which gives him all the more opportunity to observe the opposing team, who has one particularly agile at dodging the pillows from his fellow teammates. Hm.]

[Rhea'li steps forward, a singular pillow in hand. He kind of recognises the cultural connotation of the bow and bows in return, though his bow is not very low. Is he supposed to introduce himself with his job, though?]

[Bridget was entirely unsure what sort of weirdness her new clan had in store after being nestled safely in bed. But after it was explained it was for a silly game, she was suddenly more than ready to take part. Based on the sheer speed she moves about the field of play, it is quite clear she has some training in battle tactics, even if this is nothing but a game. Should anyone come near to her, they likely be in for a pillow coming at them at intense speeds.]

2. Afterwords

[A very tired Bridget could be found sitting with snacks in her lap and a soda in one hand. Her gaze was very much fixed on the projected films, and even if she didn't entirely understand everything going in on them, occasionally laughed and looked very amused about the situation in general. But somethings didn't quite come across culturally and interdimensionally, so she would eventually turn to a near by clanmate and ask something.]

[ Well. She apparently did not sneak out, and here she is sitting on a futon with a beer that isn't doing much for her. She is watching what appears to be a yokai version of The Muppets Take Manhattan. She is very confused by all of this. ]

[ She takes her whip from her belt. It jingles metallically, its notched edges sharp. She also takes a piece of paper from a pouch in her belt, it glimmers with some finely-ground blue stone. When she rubs it bruskly against her weapon, electricity starts to crackle along its sinuous length.

She steps back and winds up before flicking her whip at the birds above. The length of the whip hits along the edge of the building, spitting sparks at them. They startle and fly off.

She calls after them crossly, ]

Go elsewhere you bloody crows! I've work to do!

[ She throws a few rocks after them, just to be sure. Then she turns with her shoulders up irritably to head back into the armory workshop... ]

[ This whole place is brand new and confusing to Tsukuyo - and what they're watching right now, that is extra confusing. When she found out she was joining the Tamamo clan this isn't exactly the kind of experience she had in mind. She isn't drinking - which is just as well for everyone else around her.

While she's completely baffled right now after that pillow fight, she finds she can answer at least one of the stranger's questions. ]

It's a movie musical. They're s'posed to sing I think. Ain't my kind of thing but some people enjoy it.

[ Wow. The Shuten Clan really doesn't mess around when it comes to, well, anything. Kurogane had assumed as much before, but actually seeing it is another story.

He stares at all of the different types of food on offering, his arms crossed as he takes all of this in. Kurogane loves competition, but eating contests aren't really his thing. Still... he does have a lot of competitive spirit.

That's why he looks over at anyone who happens to come nearby. ]

Pick something and let's see who can eat the most. Nothing sweet.

ii - shuten b;

[ Kurogane ends up challenging several of the bigger oni to eating contests. He wins one or two matches, but then... he loses. He regrets being so confident in his abilities, especially when he's forced into one of those weenie costumes. It just barely fits on him, the material stretching a bit thin over certain areas like his chest.

Currently, he's trying to delay having to go walk around outside like this for as long as he can.

If he catches anyone staring, he shoots a glare at them. ]

Don't say a damn word.

iii - gift of song;

[ You know, it could be worse than metal. It really, really could be. But that doesn't make it any less annoying, especially when one of those magpies is following him around, playing the same guitar solo over and over again.

It was fine the first few times, it really was. Now, however, Kurogane's already thin patience is wearing even thinner. So, Kurogane makes several attempts to catch the bird, but it manages to narrowly escape each time. He stands there watching as it hangs out on a rooftop a few feet away, waiting to take off again when Kurogane gets close enough to make a swipe at it. Thinking he might be able to catch the magpie this time, Kurogane rushes forward, reaching out his hands to scoop it up off of the low roof it's sitting on top of.

...Only for the bird to fly away, still singing as Kurogane just barely manages to keep himself from falling flat on his face. If he spots any witnesses to this failure, he frowns. ]

Help me catch that thing. I'm sick of it.

(ENMA) BREAKING THE ICE

[ Carla thinks this sucks, but keeps it off her face. She simply goes to get something to eat and to drink and sits down to fill out the questions. For the moment, she has all the appearance of a decently behaved sixteen-year-old.

If you actually join her, you will find that she has actually just drawn all over the page. If you're the type to know that kind of thing, it is the Jigoku-cho skyline. Buildings reproduced in sharp lines, the number of windows meticulous, the rooftops and spires exact in their architecture.

She stretches as she hits the street. She reaches into a pocket to count how much cash she was able to lift off people in the hall... Looks adequate for some fun and she heads off to play with the youth gangs. They're always getting into fights and smashing things up. She goes to the corner to flag a taxi. ]

[ She tilts her head, contemplating the song above. She has it down after a couple of passes, and starts to sing along. Then she heads up a fire escape to join the pair on the roof. They startle at her presence, hopping and telling her to back off.

She just holds her hands up and continues to sing, an imploring smile on her face.

They let her sit on the edge of the roof with them, at a distance. She sings the song with them more than once, just swinging her legs and watching the street below. When they forget that she's there, she reaches over without looking and grabs one of the birds firmly by the throat.

Its legs kick, and she continues to sing the song while it squirms. ]

Most people would feel insulted they were asked to perform a task like this. Croix is, indeed, one such person. These toys are absolutely infantile in her view, designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator of low brow "entertainment" and "distractions".

So why is she disassembling more toys than everyone else? Why, for the parts, of course.

Croix has amassed two piles for the finished objects; one pile includes the outer casings, while the other includes all their innards and mechanisms. She's made sure to keep inventory, of course, but since she was tasked with trashing these things, there's surely no harm for taking the useful parts for herself, right?

Right.

Nevertheless, she can't help but feel degraded doing it, letting out an "Ugh" each time she starts working on one.

[Aside from the food in the Autelina Palace, Kisara has never been surrounded by something so bottomless. She can easily remember days in which she and Migal simply struggled to eat. It's a strange and ironic twist that she's in her current circumstance and eating better than she had for a long time. Maybe she should feel a little more guilty about it, but she also understands that it's a good way of keeping up her strength. She can't be a valuable member of the society here if she doesn't take good care of herself.

She's just sitting down and getting a look at the clipboard accompanying the table she's been ushered toward and before she even takes a bite, her eyebrows are knitting with a great deal of thought.

Chin pointed up, she's watching a magpie on a perch, happily shabadabadia'ing away. She can't reach it from where she's standing, so she steps up onto the next best thing, which is a collection of unevenly stacked crates that look anything but steady and will likely snap under her weight and pressure if she steps the wrong way.

But she's offering it... food. That she's probably taken from one of the local street shops. Leftovers most likely.]
