Ah you're right. Then, I'll be thankful. Maybe it's less the app and more fate. I don't think I've had a pleasant hair conversation with anyone before.
no subject
Do most people dislike your hair?
no subject
No, not most people. They sometimes make it a little awkward. I'm used to people looking because of who I am back home, but not because of my features. Some of which I've only recently come to terms with. You haven't done that.
no subject
Look, it's not really about the scar itself, so the spirit of the sentiment still holds, right?]
'Who you are?' Are you a person of status where you come from?
no subject
[A tiny bit of sharing never hurt anyone from King Overshare himself.]
no subject
Good. You shouldn't. Resting on the accomplishments of one's parents is a sign of weakness and makes you unworthy.
[On the other hand, this 'rated hero' thing.]
You wouldn't be acquainted with Fumikage Tokoyami, would you?
no subject
[Oh. Ohkay yes. He should know by now that using hero is going to get this kind of reaction but usually it's Midoriya.]
I know him very well. Tokoyami is one of the people in my class and an extremely accomplished hero as well in my opinion.
no subject
He explained something of professional heroes to me when we spoke last. Does this mean you have a 'Quirk' as well?
no subject
It does. Since I was very young. That means you've met Dark Shadow, too?
no subject
I have. It's fascinating what they're capable of.
[Not entirely a lie- the abilities Fumikage described were intriguing, to put it lightly.]
What about you, what can your Quirk do?
[Polite interest, or compiling useful information? Hopefully both.]
no subject
[As for his own... Shoto doesn't mind sharing.]
I use my body temperature to create ice or fire depending on the side of my body.
[Hence the red and white. He thinks she's smart enough to catch that.]
no subject
It makes sense, of course, that somebody who could create fire might be burned. Firebenders could instinctively control their flame to avoid that, but maybe a Quirk required more active conditioning. Or maybe somebody else had done it-
Stop. Stop it. Stop thinking about-]
Both fire and ice? Impressive- and quite versatile, if used creatively.
[The hair colors certainly fit, she recognizes that well enough, but being able to do command both elements is also impressive enough to have her attention.
Well. What isn't occupied by other, more intrusive thoughts.]
no subject
Both yes. For mobility, attack and defense as well as tactile. I don't have my full ability yet, but I will keep working toward it. I'm going to find somewhere that will be safe to practice. If you'd ever like to see I'll tell you where I find.
no subject
Well, I certainly wouldn't object to a demonstration, if you're offering one.
[Though she thinks she can pretty well imagine exactly how useful both fire and ice can be already. From personal experience. Too personal. And now she's trying to ignore another round of aggressively intrusive thoughts.]
no subject
It's easy: 'Why are you disfigured' is a good word string to get the ball rolling.]I am. I want to stay in practice and having someone to talk to while I do is a nice change, also.
no subject
Look she hasn't yet adjusted to the fact that she's found somebody as painfully awkward as she is, give it time.]That can be arranged.
Personally, I tend to find conversation distracting when I'm practicing.
[... It takes her a few moments to realize that she never told him what she would be practicing, and in fact hadn't meant to. Ugh, this is why she hates small talk.]
no subject
What is it you practice?
[As if she isn't anticipating that question.]
no subject
Strength training exercises, free-running, and martial arts, among other things.
[None of which was a lie, except of omission. That should satisfy him.]
I realize that's a bit more boring than controlling two elements, but I like to think I make up for it with my charming personality.
no subject
Then maybe instead of training my quirk, we can train together. Friendly competition is a good motivator. As for free running, I don't mind paying to go to a course if you think there's one paid that's better.
[Yep.]
It's not boring at all, but I agree. You seem like a very kind person.
no subject
She what? She seems like what?
Part of her wants to be gratified. Even at her most persuasive, 'kind' has always been a bit beyond her range. Another part of her assumes this poor fool must be, quite simply, the worst judge of character she's ever encountered. Either way, it catches her so off guard that she can't even laugh.
...Oh, yes, he... said things. Right.]
Well, if you think you can keep up, I suppose it couldn't hurt.
[She doesn't bother to clarify about freerunning, she just links the online encyclopedia pages for free running and parkour without any further explanation.]
no subject
GASP.Someone who sees his idiocy and actually corrects it instead of perpetuating it or yelling at him? Mistake number two has been made. He opens up the links and it takes him a second or two.]I can keep up and if I can't, I will adapt and get better to make sure I do. I could use the work out. Normally I rely on my quirk for movement, but this shouldn't be an issue. It looks fun.
no subject
"You'll never catch up."
Rrgh. Not helpful. Focus.]
It's good not to rely on your abilities too heavily or neglect other skills.
[...alright, that sounded too much like she spoke from experience.]
That's one of the reasons I practice multiple disciplines myself.
[That's better.]
no subject
But Shoto is taking to heart that she's right, and he had been training in the last place he was in with someone he considers a hand to hand expert.]
You're right. That's why I could use the practice. If you already do these things then you won't have to hold back. We can set a finish line and make our way to it. You don't happen to knife throw as well, do you?
no subject
I'm reasonably skilled with knives. I learned from somebody who was a lot better, though.
[She ignores the fresh wave of intrusive thoughts. Don't think about Mai. Just think about the conversation.]
Why, are you looking to add weapons to your arsenal as well?
no subject
I already use them. That's how I learned, too. They're no longer in my life and I miss them and their teachings. Could we practice that one day together? You don't have to teach me, it would just be nice to practice with someone who knew already.
