[ Just like he said he would, Katsuki swings around Izuku's place to pick the fucker up. The nerd had even went on about wearing yukata and taking pictures. All of that nonsense that Katsuki is sort of accustomed to when it comes to this particular teenage nuisance. So, in spirit of that, he's definitely picked out something to wear despite the fact that, well, he'd be find just wearing his usual black on black attire.

But Katsuki is ever a perfectionist. So when someone sets expectations, he is going to go above and beyond to meet them or exceed them. Shouldn't be too hard since this is Izuku. But then when the damn nerd comes out - ]

The hell you wearing that for?

Maybe. Or [ he snorts at the thought ] they're the only band that can be hired.

[Look, Izuku is not the only one here that's nervous. Honestly Katsuki doesn't know what the fuck he needs to do to make this a good time.

Thankfully the shitty nerd is making the first suggestion. So the blonde grabs at Izuku's wrist and starts to walk off in that direction. ]

You? Beat me? I won these things all the time when we were brats.

[fullgauntlet]

Wha-!?

[The grab at his wrist should have been expected but he's caught off guard anyway as he gets pulled along and follows.

Honestly, he was kind of banking on this to be an ice breaker, Katsuki acting just as he expected.]

But we're not kids anymore, Kacchan, I think I could surprise you now...!

[ Maybe eventually he'll have the courage to grab the hand and not the wrist. Not right now though. But he is throwing a smirk over his shoulder. ]

I'm counting on it. For all of the shit that's predictable, you've done just as much that's shocked me. So you better not disappoint either this time, got it?

[ Even as they get into line, Katsuki doesn't drop Izuku's wrist. ]

[fullgauntlet]

Ah- I won't! It's going to be different, you can't beat me at every game anymore either...!

[He lets out a short breathless laugh as they fall into line for the first game. He can feel the warmth of Katsuki's fingers so he lets himself stand next to him looking both a little flustered and determined to prove his point too.

When its their turn they're given a set of plastic toy guns with little rubber bullets. The aim is to score three points on the targets before the other person can. Izuku reaches out to take his.]

This can't be any harder than aiming my quirk.

[ That's the way it should be. Izuku right there at his side but damn determined to prove him wrong. Just like Katsuki wants to be better. He wants to win and he wants Izuku to see it. Rivalry. Companionship. Something a little more than that.

He looks at the little plastic gun and then glances to Izuku. Shrugs. ]

Or firing off my own quirk. Just aim and pull the trigger.

[fullgauntlet]

[Izuku finds comfort in the familiarity of it all as well. The normal tilt of Katsuki's voice. The way he feels a sharp flicker of determination to prove himself.

He lifts the gun and closes one eye to test his aiming. It's going to be a lot like any other shooting game. Or like using his quirk to shoot aimed blasts. He can do this so he's eyeing up the little rabbit targets lined up.]

Alright, Kacchan. Then on the count of three, let's see who can get to three points faster. Ready?

[And he'll start to count down...]

[ He's also lining up. ]

Maybe let the attendant count, heh? That way ain't gonna get a jump on each other.

[ Of course the attendant just heaves out an exasperated sigh. But they count down all the same. 3...

2...

1...

And shots are being fired! ]

[fullgauntlet]

Ack- Alright-!

[skdfjhdf He's not already embarrassed- no?? He takes a sharp breath in to focus on the game and eyes the targets again.

On three he starts to fire too! Blam blam! Just as he usually does once Izuku focuses he's very good at picking things up. Hitting two targets in a row! Already!]

[ At the shout, Katsuki fires. But, unfortunately, he doesn't have the same kind of luck as Izuku. Maybe he expects more of a kickback.

But he only hits one. ]

FUCKING RIGGED!

[fullgauntlet]

[And just at the same time Izuku manages to hit his third target!! Clack!]

Ah?!

[Izuku grins happily the moment it happens! Not at all phased by Katsuki's angry shout or the people looking at them for it.]

I won, Kacchan!

[And he's promptly handed a little white toy bunny for his prize?!]

[ What the hell? What the actual burning hell is wrong with this picture? It's the fact that Izuku is cheerfully claiming victory. And the prize. ]

Ain't no way. Ain't no way! We're gonna go again!

[ Because he is actually Like This. ]

[fullgauntlet]

[He won! Just like he won volleyball! Fair and square!]

Wait- No! Kacchan!

[... Okay, he knows Katsuki's not going to be satisfied with this. Izuku quickly looks around and sees someone selling helium balloons so he suddenly says,]

Hold on! Stay here!

[What is he doing? He jogs away for a moment before asking to buy some of the ribbon used to tie to the balloons. He gets a weird look from the seller but once Izuku has the ribbon he comes back with the white rabbit and presents it to Katsuki. It seems he's tied a neat orange and green bow with the ribbons around the rabbit's neck.]

Here, I won it for you, Kacchan.

[Does that make things fair??]

[ Wait? He's being told to wait? What for? Katsuki reaches out to stop the other, but the fucking nerd is just GONE.

The blonde just blinks owlishly after the other. What is he...

And then Deku is back. Dropping this rabbit in his hands. With an orange and green ribbon - not subtle at all - tied around it and everything. He looks down at it. Looks back at Izuku. ]

Hah?

[fullgauntlet]

[Izuku is going to stand there a little awkwardly in hopes that Katsuki... keeps it?]

It's- It's for you! So, there's no real winner or loser. Right...?

[Katsuki can have the prize. He doesn't want to fight too much today! So it has both their colours there...]

[ Don't worry about it, Izuku. His ears are just turning red even as he snatches the rabbit up and out of those hands. He looks down on it, tugging one of those ears. Stupid Izuku.

Shitty nerd definitely found a way around it. Katsuki had totally wanted to do another round so that Izuku doesn't get ahead of him in wins. But if the prize is presented to him then what's there to complain about? ]

Fine. But we're gonna find another one to do then.

[ First of all, he can't let Izuku get one up on him. So the blonde has to find a way to make things square. So he definitely needs to play another game so that Katsuki can win and return the favor. ]

[Izuku seems to look hopeful at that response! He gives a wobbly smile but he nods quickly. He has to admit that when Katsuki seems to blush because of something he's done that it feels- good.]

Okay, Kacchan. Do you want to pick the next game?

[There are so many games to pick from. It's nosy and bright here and Izuku doesn't know where to start after that one game. If Katsuki wants to play another he'll let him take the lead.]

[ It's... It's something isn't it? That Katsuki actually CAN blush and that it's Izuku or something Izuku's done that's made him actually do it. Honestly, it's sort of embarrassing at the same time. Bakugou feels a little flustered but there's nothing for it. This is. Well. It's supposed to work this way. At least that's what he's going to keep telling himself. This is fine.

But for the moment, the blonde is looking around. There are a lot of people. Katsuki really doesn't like this part of it. Too loud. Too much energy. At least he can do this for the other though.

So when he reaches out, it is actually taking Izuku's hand and tugging him along. To the goldfish. ]

[It is something. Everything is something- Izuku barely knows what to do with himself the moment that Katsuki takes his hand. The slight warmth from their palms touching makes Izuku's heart skip a beat. He feels kind of silly and stupid so for a moment all he can do is follow Katsuki like a awe-struck puppy.

He just doesn't understand how they got here. How Izuku's blurted out little confession got them to this place. He figures, or hopes, that somewhere along the way they've always been drawn together. Even if Izuku falters on where that line blurred. Doesn't really know what Katsuki is thinking or how he's feeling. Now he feels like he's just trying to keep up and not trip and fall.]

The goldfish? It's been a while since I've played a game like that too...!

[Seeing the stand it does seem like its one of calmer games to play. Taking some patience and time to scoop up the fish gently. A quieter space for the introvert that is Katsuki too.]

[ Honestly... is that really too different than when they had been kids? Izuku haplessly toddling off after Katsuki. Lately Bakugou feels as though it's been the other way around. That it's been that way for quite some time, really.

It probably will seem a little odd. Katsuki hasn't rightfully responded to Izuku's confession. He just asked the nerd out on this date and is kind of hoping that his feelings on the matter become clear? Because he doesn't do anything that he, ultimately, doesn't want to do. meaning if he's here with Izuku in this capacity then that means he wants to keep doing this. ]

Do you remember what happen the last time we went?

[ Katsuki wasn't patient enough to catch anything, really. Too impatient. It ended with a lot of busted nets. ]

You kept cheering me on.

[fullgauntlet]

[If only Katsuki would talk to him like normal instead of expecting Izuku to always read between the lines but... He supposed Katsuki will never change in that regard. Even if it makes Izuku feel anxious now. He does his best, though.

He swallows a little at the question. Bringing up old memories always makes Izuku feel fond and a little sad at the same time.]

You were trying so hard, but you only caught a few.

[But then he laughs softly.]

I think that might happen again today, Kacchan. If you're not patient with the fish and gentle with the nets.

...Are you sayin' I ain't gonna be patient and gentle?

[ Careful Izuku. There's a warning in that tone. A warning that this is starting to feel more and more like a challenge. But then again, that's kind of how they operate, isn't it? Even on a date, they have to push one another just a little bit. They have to still somehow make something of a game of everything. ]

I'll show you. OI OLD MAN!

[ Bakugou is talking to the attendant for the game. The guy narrows his eyes, apparently not appreciating the blonde's approach. ]

[Izuku jolts even if he's more than used to Katsuki responding to him like that. There's a small spark in him curious enough to know if Katsuki can actually do a better job of the goldfish scooping if he really puts in that patience and gentleness. Can he do it?]

I'm- I'm curious to see if you can, Kacchan.

[There is that thinly veiled challenge in Izuku's soft voice, yep. The old man who is attending the stand continues to frown but he does pass the boys a few handfuls of paper scoops.]

I ain't the same impatient brat that I was, you know.

[ Well, he is in some ways. Not so much in others anymore. Katsuki is only loud to mask his own emotions anymore. His default is quiet and contemplative. That's actually a pretty far cry from when they had been kids.

Once they get to the stall, he's already demanding that they be given nets. The attendant is put out, yeah, but also handing them all paper scoops and explaining the rules. Not that they actually need them to be explained but... Rules are rules.

By now Katsuki has to let go of Izuku's hand, but he's picking out a spot next to the pool. ]

Ready?

[fullgauntlet]

No, Kacchan. You've changed a lot lately.

[Izuku says that with a smile on his face. Noting that he really isn't the impatient person he used to be anymore. He isn't a lot of the things he used to be anymore. It's made Izuku feel closer to him and a little overly hopeful.

But now it's time to play the goldfish game. Izuku nods to the blond and on the count of three, they'll have to gently and carefully scoop up as many little goldfish as possible! Izuku starts! And is very gentle in how he does it because more than a game these are living creatures!]

It's all about not scaring the fish away with the scoop...! Letting the fish come into it naturally! But also not taking so long that the scoop starts to weaken...

He's going to be somewhat patient. The blonde takes the advice anyway, even if it is unnecessary commentary from the peanut gallery. Eventually one does swim upon the net, but Katuki's a little too fast to yank it up and - ]
