[ Just like he said he would, Katsuki swings around Izuku's place to pick the fucker up. The nerd had even went on about wearing yukata and taking pictures. All of that nonsense that Katsuki is sort of accustomed to when it comes to this particular teenage nuisance. So, in spirit of that, he's definitely picked out something to wear despite the fact that, well, he'd be find just wearing his usual black on black attire.

But Katsuki is ever a perfectionist. So when someone sets expectations, he is going to go above and beyond to meet them or exceed them. Shouldn't be too hard since this is Izuku. But then when the damn nerd comes out - ]

The hell you wearing that for?

[He silently agrees that maybe they don't need to talk about it anymore. Or at least right now since they are on a date together and Izuku wants the two of them to have a good time. Still, he appreciates the sentiments from the blond very much.

Izuku smiles and gives a challenging little nod. It'll be hard enough to run and climb with a yukata on and he hopes he doesn't ruin the obi that Katsuki worked so hard to tie for him.]

Right. No quirks.

[He confirms and then that same little playfully competitive spark sparkles in his green eyes. He counts to three and... Go! Runs and climbs!!]

[ And off katsuki goes! At top speed without any of his Quirk active and able to give him a boost. The rng gods have blessed him with a 19!

He scrambles like a spider monkey himself. Reaching the top!

Before Izuku. In fact he's standing on the top with his hands at his hips and cackling. ]

Ah?!

[Katsuki climbs up so fast and despite Izuku trying to do his best he just can't beat Katsuki in this today. Soon enough the blond is up there and he's cackling like a maniac.]

Kacchan! How are you so fast at that?! And wearing a yukata too?! That was incredible?!

[Izuku slows and reaches the top bars to reach his hand out. Help him up the last step?]

[ Yeah, he's holding out his hand. Right now he's in such a good mood that he doesn't even really realize what he's doing. What he's offering. What he's accepting in return. Bakugou is just enjoying the moment. ]

You know my old hag used to put me in this shit all the time growing up. So of course I know how to move in it.

[fullgauntlet]

[Meanwhile Izuku is as impressed as ever although he's burning a little from the defeat. He takes the hand and climbs up the rest of the way and tries his hardest not to get tangled up in the fabric of his yukata. He moves and sits down on the bars next to Katsuki and sighs.]

Now I'm imagining you fighting in a yukata like this and still doing great, Kacchan.

[It's kind of a funny mental image. He laughs a little then looks up at the sky as it starts to spark with fireworks.]</small Ah, I think it's starting!

[ Katsuki also settles upon metal bars. The blonde rolls his eyes. ]

Don't wanna. Definitely prefer being able to move around like I need to. Exactly why I had my costume made the way it was.

[ And... He might still have a hold of Izuku's hand. Just because it feels like that's where it should be. ]

Hah?

[ The first BOOM startles him. Then he looks up. Oh right. Supposed to be watching fireworks. ]

[He's about to remark that his outfit makes sense so he's not surprised. But the crackling of the lights above catches Izuku's attention.

Izuku can also feel Katsuki's hand still holding his. It makes this little roll of happiness flutter in his chest. Glancing at Katsuki for a moment before looking back up at the bright fireworks.]

It's starting!

[ He gives Izuku's hand a squeeze. There's a flutter about his chest. A warmth that he feels on his neck and at the tips of his ears.

Doesn't stop him from noticing that Izuku is looking at him. His eyes flicker back and then at the sky once more.

It lights up in every color under the spectrum. And his gaze continues to flit between sky and Izuku. ]

[There might be a moment that Izuku and Katsuki's eyes meet and it makes a flutter appear in Izuku's chest. He's been feeling silly and wanting for this sort of thing for so long that he can't help feel a little excited. The crackling of the fireworks above is a nice backdrop to his first ever date.]

Erm. Kacchan?

[He smiles shyly.]

Thanks for asking me to go with you tonight.

[ The problem here is that Izuku's expressions? They are sort of easy to read. So he more or less has it figured out what the nerd might be thinking. It also makes his own heart skip a beat.

Katsuki is then rubbing at his neck, willing the heat and the blush to go away. Augh. If he could only reach over and squish those stupid baby cheeks or bite them or something. ]

Yeah? Ain't anyone else I'd wanna go with.

[fullgauntlet]

[Meanwhile Izuku is also blushing something fierce. He looks down for a moment to try not to let himself get carried away. But being here with the other boy like this... He never thought it would happen.

He looks up at the sky again quickly.]

Same here...! I mean- I never thought you'd want to do anything like this with me. So, I'm glad.

[ Katsuki doesn't look down. Rather he looks up, just as another series of lights fill the sky. People really did go out of their way to make this feel like a real festival.

He squeeze Izuku's hand again at the admission. ]

I don't hate it. It's been... Better than what I thought? Tch. I'd do it again.

[fullgauntlet]

[There's a little hopeful roll in his stomach when Katsuki says that. He still looks up at the sky too and is happy to watch the explosions of fire and lights in the sky. fireworks have always reminded Izuku of Katsuki. He wonders if he should admit that?]

Okay. I'd ... I'd like that too.

[More dates...!!]

[ What a fucking nerd. It's cute. And Katsuki is at war with himself for thinking that fucking DEKU is cute. It's gross and disgusting and yet his heart is beating a little in his chest. Just a little faster. ]

So that's what we're gonna do.

[ Just like that, Katsuki's decided upon it. He's going to ask this shitty nerd out on a date again too. Maybe next time a social event rolls around. Maybe some time before.

At least the rest of this evening is just spent watching the remainder of the fireworks. The finale is impressive, multiple rounds going on. Various kinds scattering across the sky like falling starts. Then when it's over, they walk back to pick up the fish.

And Katsuki walks the other back for the night. A perfect conclusion. ]
