[ Megumi, with his flawless memory, recognises her immediately from when they had their chat on Ember a few weeks ago. He steps out of the shadow now, black tar sliding off him and falling back into the shadow, before that shadow loses that extra definition and returns to normal. He keeps the vials in his hands, but he does wonder if she's going to give him any trouble for them, given that he looks like quite a suspicious character right now. ]
It's Fushiguro.
[ Though they technically hadn't introduced, his name was there on the Ember page. He does acknowledge that it's a small detail not many would store to memory though. Anyway, he doesn't want to be referred to as 'Mom Friend', even if it's the least offensive thing on his profile. ]
Medina-san, right? [ It might be slightly alarming that he knows her name when she hadn't given it to him. Megumi's a nosy person and glanced at her profile. He also tends to commit all details, however unnecessary, to memory. ]
[Before she replies, Monts makes a complicated expression when she hears him refer to her as, "Medina-san" as if that's somehow worse in comparison to being called "Mom Friend."
So no, she won't question how he knows her name (she figured it out already, her profile was public) OR his shadowy powers on display, but she WILL make a lecturing finger wag at him.]
Oh no. No, you don't.
[She'll even walk up to Megumi and pokes his forehead.]
No one calls me "Medina-san" and we won't be starting now! I'm Monts.
[ It's only natural for Megumi to call people by their last names and add the appropriate honorific. He's a fairly polite young man like that. When she visibly bristles, he wonders for a quick second if she's unnerved by the fact that he managed to find out her name at all, but what she really seems to be irritated by ...
is very unexpected? ]
Huh? [ He's taken aback by the sudden scolding, and even more taken aback when she goes and pokes him in the forehead, instinctively taking a step back. ]
Monts-san then...? But isn't that your name? [ Megumi doesn't like his given name either, but he finds it odd that it got such a reaction out of her. ]
[Though she has her hands on her hips, her grin indicates that she isn't taking this all that seriously.
(She's also none the wiser about the shady black market figures who are shuffling about in the Tamamo territory, looking to see who's gotten their Stardust.)]
I'll settle for, "Monts-san" but you're going to have to drop the honorific at some point.
[it is LAW]
Anyways, fancy meeting you here... Fushiguro? Fushiguro. [Nodding to herself, she glances around the area they're in.]
Well, I've long since accepted there are high-schoolers here, but I guess I'm getting old if I'm feeling concerned. Would you like to tell me what you're up to?
[ With how reserved he tends to be, she might have to pry the honorific out of his cold dead hands. Still, Megumi will respect her wishes and use her nickname instead. As for what he's up to, he has a feelings he can sort of guess, with the vials he has hoarded in his arms and the way he's shifting through the shadows.
There's a sigh at that. He has nothing against her so far (finds her personality agreeable, actually), but she isn't going to stop him from doing what he needs to for his mission. Especially since he's already put in this much effort so far. ]
That depends ... on whether you're going to try and stop me or not. [ He's here in Tamamo, and he's got vials in his hands. The logical conclusion is that he has been taking from the black market dealers here. ]
[ Megumi furrows his brows when his forehead is poked, reaching up to sweep her hand away with an annoyed look. Should he tell her what he's up to? If he doesn't, she's going to keep asking, which would be annoying. If he does, she might try to stop him. Then again, he's regained some of his cursed technique, so he's fairly confident he's strong enough to protect his stash if it came to that. ]
The black market dealers obtained these vials through illegal shipping routes. They're not going to miss a few missing vows.
[ And that's what he was doing. Stealing from criminals. ]
[She draws back after he swats her hand away, blinking innocently.]
Mm. It sounds troublesome if you ask me. But illegal shipping routes do sound like something that would trouble my group...
[And as if on cue, there's a shout of, "THERE HE IS!" behind her. Monts turns to glance at the black market dealers that were trying to tail Megumi and they're starting to approach the both of them, looking incredibly angry.]
[ ooc: was supposed to be 'vial' not 'vow' up there rip ]
[ At the commotion behind him, Megumi lets out a click of the tongue in frustration. While this would usually be Megumi's cue to slip into the shadows, he's used up a lot of cursed energy today and it's probably best to conserve in case he needs to do a summon. He's deciding there and then if he wants to make a run for it, or stay and fight them. ]
You should probably --
[ Not get involved, is what he wants to say, but he's cut off by a voice coming from the men chasing him.
"And he's got an accomplice, too! GET THEM BOTH!" ]
Looks like I got you involved. [ Whoops. But there's little time to apologise properly. ] What are you going to do?
[She doesn't get to finish her sentence because immediately one of the goons (there are about three of them) unsheathes a pocket knife and lunges for Megumi. While the other two try to block Monts off. She swears under her breath and maneuvers around them somehow going after the armed individuals.
Before he can jab at the boy, without really thinking, Monts blocks the black market dealer and grabs the blade of the knife.
Obviously, it cuts her.
Obviously, she is bleeding.
This should be a very, very dire problem, but Monts looks at the assailant cooly, saying nothing while they all stare at her, bug-eyed at the recklessness forgetting about the boy who had stolen from them.]
[ Megumi could sense their hostility and was prepared to evade the attack, too used to being in situations such as these. He fully expected to have to defend himself, but he doesn't quite expect the older woman to jump in to his defense - let alone shield him by grabbing the knife. It's such an absurd thing to do for someone you've only spoken to once, and his worry spikes immediately. ]
Divine Dogs. [ Clasping his hands together, he summons his two dogs, who charge at the attackers immediately, latching onto their arms or thighs and throwing them a further distance away. Megumi takes this brief moment to turn to Monts, grabbing her by the wrist and trying to pry the knife from her hands. ]
What are you doing?! Why would you grab this?! Let it go!
[The kid has powers; that's a relief for Monts who had basically acted thoughtlessly because she assumed there were no other means of defense. But her thought was more along the lines of:
"It's not going to hurt anyway."
She knows it's a concerning thought process and that she should not act on it so impulsively. But things happen in the heat of the moment, you know?
Megumi's Divine Dogs make short work of creating distance between them and the dealers as well as a perfect deterrent. Monts was lost in thought, fascinated by the summoned creatures that she didn't notice she was still holding onto the knife until she feels her warm blood sliding down her hand.]
Oops. You're right.
[The knife clatters to the ground with small drops of blood around it. The deep cut on her palm is prominent but she's indifferent and uncaring to her physical state.]
You were going to get stabbed. What kind of person would I be if I just stood by?

dishonor on my cow for sitting on this 🐄
Should I be? It's not my style to bully younger kids.
[lies, but to be fair, the degree is highly customized to the person it is towards]
Well, I say that but I know you probably have a job to do... And so do I!
[And she promptly reaches out to poke Megumi's forehead again. Will this become a thing? Tune in next time.]
Reveal your secrets!
my cow is also dishonoured
