It's 7am on the dot, Nishitani's in a black suit with a fuchsia button up, his tie a peacock's tail with a simple clip keeping it in place, and knocking at Ryouma's door eagerly. He's got his tanto with him as always, but he's also brought some other simple but inspired choices with him: a metal bat, and his shoes have metal tips. ]

[ They don't even fuck when they make it back to their apartment. ]

[ Both of them are caked in blood, dry and wet, flaking off them and sticking and staining their skin. Nishitani's waiting for Andy when she gets back, and when she's free they peel away to finally get a second alone together. ]

[ Only, the second they're alone, they fall onto their futon and in the next breath, fall asleep, tangled with each other and still with their fucking shoes on. ]

[ They stir once or twice in the night, enough to kick off boots and jackets, but they're still suited up 16 hours later when they finally rouse fully from slumber. Nishitani comes to first, the noise of laughter startling him sleep. Finally, he looks at the ceiling, at Andy, and shit, this futon isn't going to be salvageable. When Nishitani tries to roll over, his back tells him that the futon going in the garbage won't be a bad thing, either. ]

[ Setting up a shelter isn't hard. Buisnesses come and go, and Nishitani snaps up a disused casino on it's last fucking legs, guts it for parts to finish off the Celestial, and sets the rest up for Izo. ]

[ While Nishitani owns it, he's hands off. Any requests from the builders get forwarded to Izo, any questions about colours, about function, about fabric-- Nishitani keeps his hands off unless asked. This isn't his venture, he's just funded it. ]

[ Simple. There's no hidden strings, no overtones. Just lunch, over at Nishitani and Andy's new place. They haven't mentioned the texts, not yet. Nishitani feels them weighty in the air, regardless. While the place is clean, Nishitani's specifically kept Andy's panties from this morning out, a stain of her come and his at the crotch. In the bathroom, there's handcuffs and lube by the sink. Only the kitchen is truly impeccable. ]

[ An unseen wrench in the plan is the fact Bastard's yeowling at the window, screaming to be let in. Nishitani'd let him back outside after breakfast, as in the tomcat's routine, but the smell of cooking salmon has brought him back. Well... Seduction might be difficult with Bastard trying to bite Emily's ankles, but that's better than the unending chorus of Bastard's broken motor voice. ]

[ nishitani might be impeccably dressed at this hour but ryouma sure isn't. who knows what time he got in last night? ~~see: it was really late.~~ to say he expected this would be a lie — payouts, yes. exact timing and method? not so much. the yakuza is a different beast from what he's familiar with. unfortunately, he continues having to relearn these things.

he pushes the door open a little, all half-dressed and half-awake. his hair is loose and messy and his eyes look sleepier than usual. and irritated, but that's to be expected under the circumstances. ]

[ It's strange to be trusted with anything that isn't killing. A real actual shelter for him to be in charge of the day to day business. It doesn't feel real. It's not a clean business (what is in this city), but he doesn't care about that, either. The important thing to him is ultimately that the street dogs get taken care of; that this also improves his standing with the Clan after his disappearance last month is a bonus.

Izō looks genuinely happy for once in his life and doesn't even try to cover it up when he turns towards the other man. Nishitani funded this, it's only fair he gets to see what it means to Izō. ]

[ ryouma is indeed that idiot with the gun both before and at present because if he learned anything from that other time, it's that it's not unreasonable to hang onto it when people come unexpectedly banging on your door.

the door getting kicked in knocks him on his ass, and he crawls/crabwalks/rolls over somehow to get back and away until his back bumps into the low table in the middle of the space. it's not a very dignified maneuver but performing it was a choice. nishitani isn't coming at him (yet), so he's not threatening to shoot like the last time, but he keeps a hold on the weapon anyway.

it's not a very big or a very nice apartment because no one's supposed to see this place because this is where all of ryouma's disorder ends up while he keeps his professional image clean. it's a standard apartment which is to say it's mostly a long rectangle with a window at one end and a door on the other with a tiny kitchen space and the door leading off to a bathroom sandwiched somewhere in between. The only thing he seems to bother taking care of besides his clothes is the sword against the wall beneath the window. he doesn't own pillowcases, but he bought a stand for that.

he's not particularly thrilled that a total stranger is seeing his shit because the only people who have been here are hizen and izō. ]

[ it's fairly obvious what he's referring to. this whole situation. he supposes nishitani wants him to feel some type of way about being threatened – and the use of that particular addition to his name — but ryouma just huffs and rolls his eyes. he's seen too much in his time, and that's not even considering what he's done as a servant. he wasn't afraid of the shinsengumi or oryou when he met her, and he's too proud to be concerned right now, even if taking that attitude will hurt. ]

[ Not a lie, and the smell of lunch is already in the air.]

[ he has a manic, somewhat unhinged look about him this morning because as the threats sink in on top of what else he's dealing with, he feels increasingly detached from it. it's not that nishitani isn't perfectly terrifying because under normal circumstances, ryouma might be trying his best to smooth this over. he has plenty of good reasons to want to do that but after toraguma gave him a vivid preview of what his death will look like, he struggles to care about something like this in a meaningful way. it's fine. ]

[ Nishitani doesn't move from where he's shifted, flat on his back with Andy nested against him. He's not sure he can get up. Sure, he knows his age, knows he's starting to show it, but never before has he physically felt his body betray him like this. He says sit, the muscles down his back say no. ]

I can't feel my fucking legs. [ Was it how he slept? Did Andy shift in her sleep? What the fuck. He looks down at his feet. His toes are wiggling, at least. ] Might be fused to the futon.
