1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party of sorts. The leaders of each faction each send a message to their new recruits, telling them to meet at their respective headquarters.

The Shuten Clan directs their new recruits to the Arena. There’s plenty of food and booze to go along with the exhibition matches from the toughest fighters they’ve got. Enjoy the view or get involved in an arena fight, if you’re feeling spicy. If bloodsport isn’t your cup of tea, there’s a number of gambling games to partake in, too – don’t worry, your money isn’t at stake here, unless you want it to be.

The Tamamo Clan recruits are sent to the brothel Mizukume. Hosts of all sorts are there to fill your every need. If you’re not one to be doted on, there’s also exotic dancers in every state of undress for you to look at. You may be tasked with being a host or a dancer yourself. If you’re not in the mood for that, there’s plenty of food from Tamamo-controlled restaurants to eat and seemingly endless drinks. The drinks may or may not have a little something extra in them, so check the labels carefully.

The Sutoku Alliance meets at the nightclub Konoha. It’s truly a celebration with an enormous amount of fast food from every joint in their district and an equal amount of cheap drinks. Sing your heart out with live band karaoke – don’t worry about them not knowing your song, they seem to have a depth of knowledge beyond this world. Once that settles down, there’s plenty of dancing to do or you can be a wallflower, whatever suits your mood.

The Department of the Enma meets at a meeting room on the top floor of Kaigo no Bou. The room is uncomfortably opulent and wouldn’t be out of place in a Heian imperial court. Fine silk tapestries cover the walls, richly lacquered wood is inlaid with gold, and it all feels like it was decorated by someone with more money than taste. There’s fine food and even finer drink available. Various multi-armed youkai play in a jazz band, playing their instruments in a much more complicated manner than strictly necessary. Stretch your legs and dance. Take a peek out the window for a bird’s eye view of the city. If the interior is too stuffy for you, escape to the roof for some fresh air – just be careful not to fall off.

2. PARTY TIME

After everyone’s had their fill of food, drink, and entertainment: the party isn’t over. They’re told to make their way to Konoha with the instruction to show their faction’s pride. That’s a careful way to tell them to raise hell. Upon arrival, all recruits are provided with an advance on their pay by The Enma. Food is provided by the Shuten Clan, a variety of all sorts of meaty foods. Drinks are provided by the Tamamo Clan, but be wary because some may have that special Tamamo kick to them (read: aphro). It’s technically a neutral meeting place, but there’s almost certain to be a fight sooner or later. Entertain yourself, meet the other factions, and raise some Hell.

( yeah...... no. ritsu stays the five minutes he's required to in the nightclub they've been directed to and then he hits the streets, slinking away from everything too loud, too noisy, too annoying.

except sutoku's main area, too, is too loud, too noisy, too annoying. ritsu finds his way onto the roof of a not-too-tall building, rubbing his scraped hands at watching people mill about below. if you're a fellow lost soul, you're getting a whistle and a wave—

yeah, he remembers seeing you at the little mingle they just had, or maybe in the entry office everyone got put into starting out. regardless: )

( despite his dislike of loud, noisy places, ritsu does eventually find his way back to konoha... but only because he's pretty sure he's seen some unfamiliar faces (or maybe some familiar faces, if he met you earlier in the city), and that means there's a higher chance of him finding someone he knows.

[ The initial intention of getting out of the nightclub had been to go back to his quarters, but at some point Junpei had gotten turned around and now was trying to get his bearings again. He’s in the middle of trying to remember if he’s passed a specific store before when Ritsu calls out to him. Hearing the voice from above he looks up, wondering instantly if he shouldn’t have just ignored the question. This could be some kind of distraction to ambush him for all he knows.

Hesitantly, he responds, though he’s looking around to see if anyone’s going to sneak up on him from the side. ]

Yeah ... ? They’re not really ... my thing.

CRYING how i lost this notif i'm sorry...

( ritsu hmmmmms, tilting his head... before he yawns and shrugs. )

Me neither. ( obviously. ) Wanna find somethin' else to do? There's a ton of stuff 'round here, but I've been kinda tryin' to find somethin' a little less...

[ Those were all problems he’d had with the nightclub, so he can totally buy it.

But he’s not used to being asked to hang out with someone, let alone a person he’s not met before.

( Ritsu's too lazy to jump anyone without cause, as his new stranger pal's gonna learn real quick— )

Wanna see a movie? Or hit up a bar, or go to karaoke... Shouldn't be too many people in the other ones.

[ shylock just so happens to be one of those people that ritsu kinda-sorta knows, fortunately. western wizards are drawn to loud parties like moths to a flame, so it's not surprising to encounter him on the way to konoha. ]

[ there's not a trace of exhaustion on shylock's face as he smiles at ritsu, and he dusts himself off. ]

Off to party once more?

Nah. I don't really like that kinda stuff... but I saw some new faces, so I thought I'd come down and see if I could catch anyone I knew. ( and he has. hello. ) Which clan'd they stick you into?

[breweries]

[ hello, narcoleptic boy. ]

Tamamo. I can't imagine myself in other clans, if I have to be honest. [ a pause. ] ...Well, half-honest. But I shudder to think of the possibility that they'd put me with the Enma.

[ closes eyes. ]

Sutoku, so you're in my home turf now. Make sure you behave, okay?

( ...not that ritsu's actually gonna do anything to misbehaving cretins though. not his department. )

Kinda wanted Tamamo though... They seemed like they had a real comfy life. ( lazy cat aesthetic. ) Guess it's okay though. Sutoku's got a lot of entertainment stuff, so if push comes to shove, I won't have a~ny problems at all findin' some way to make a little money.

Tamamo may be the faction of pleasure, but food service and sex work aren't as easy as most people make it out to be. Sutoku is the next best thing, in my book. [ he tilts his head. ] Are you going to pose as a cat as well for change?

Back home I was part of an idol unit... I can play piano, too. ( guess either of those'll work. piano mostly might be nice... but does hell even enjoy classical music? we'll see. ) Idol work's a lot of different things too—modeling, acting, singing and dancing—so as long as it's not too tiring, I guess I can do some of that...

[ a shrug. ] It's almost a given, isn't it. But I don't mind. I have worked as one for quite a while now, and I can't possibly see myself in another profession, really.

[ except-- ]

But an idol, you say. That's quite unexpected with how lethargic you seem. [ no offense. honest. ] Does that mean you are someone's... oshi? Did I use it right?

...Yeah, you did, and yeah, I probably am. Knights is a super popular unit, so... I mean, someone like Secchan's probably got more, but who doesn't want a sleepy knight who'll cuddle up next to you at night and keep you nice and safe?

Mmm... I got an on-stage mode and and off-stage mode, I guess, you could say, so I can turn on the charm if I want... but it's just way too tiring to be "on" all the time, y'know? Work's work, and life's life.

But it is too bad you won't be performing at tonight's party -- I would like to see your onstage mode as well. Though is it even possible for you to sing and dance on your own?

[ ah, someone joining him up on this particular rooftop! it does give them the best angle to view the sky, which is seemingly normal but currently without the one thing that makes murr's pulse race and his fingers twitch and his eyes go wide and unblinking. ]

Oh! [ murr cants his head in ritsu's direction, immediately eyeing the boy's actions with his hands. ]

Here, lemme see them for a second.

[ and he holds his own out. ]

ritsu looks at his hands, then murr's, then puts his hands in murr's, he guesses. why not. what's the worst that could happen. )

( i mean, slightly too late to ask that when he's already put his fate in murr's hands but like )

No way! That'd be kinda harsh, wouldn't it?

[ can't say it didn't cross his mind but he's more interested in seeing what's wrong. they look a little sore? red? but they're soft and murr is more than happy to press them against his own cheeks for a moment. ]

[ and then he takes one of ritsu's hands, holds it in front of his own face, and licks from the base of his wrist all the way up to the tip of his middle finger. ]

ritsu yanks his hands away, making a face... what.... why......... )

[ no promises. still, he keeps his tongue out for a split second longer before offering a very feline-ish grin. ]

So. You taking some time and getting some fresh air too? Or are you also looking for the moon?

[ where are you, moon wife??? ]

If you're looking for the moon, you found him.

Yeah, I'm gettin' some fresh air. I don't really like loud places... ( Like, for some places it's totally understandable, but they're not super his scene. Won't catch him willingly going into an arcade or something like that. ) You like the moon or somethin'?

Eh? [ murr's eyes widen. ] So then I've found the moon twice and you didn't tell me the first time!

[ but then he laughs and carefully rocks back and forth. last thing he needs to do is fall off. ]

I do. The moon is so amazing! hands up in the air, he shakes them around. I wanna learn all of its secrets, uncover all of its mysteries!

[ and then murr leans against ritsu, wrapping one arm around his waist and pulling slightly. ]

but pushing murr away or moving too much could spell trouble... for them... this high up, so ritsu settles for the "hackles raised" vibe and leans away as much as he reasonably can. ) There's not much t'learn about the moon, though. We went to it, and it's just a hunk of rock. Some people think it used to be part of the Earth, or that it was part of an asteroid that hit it, or somethin' like that... I'm not reaaaally that interested in astronomy.

yeah, probably not the best for either of them for ritsu to forcibly physically disengage here! but murr certainly notices how much discomfort he's generating and completely relishes it all, his grin smoothing out with the slightest wrinkle in the middle.

That sounds kinda boring! [ so he does sympathize with ritsu. ] But what if I said it could do more than that? What if it could cause disasters, big and small, all over the world?

[ isn't that romantic??? ]

( annoying...... this is ritsu getting a taste of his own medicine and he doesn't like it. )

...Then I'd say it sounds like you come from one of those mangas Maakun likes. ( shounen BULLSHIT. ) Or like your moon's all messed up. I mean, I kinda get it controls the tides or whatever, but usually it's earthquakes makin' tsunamis, not the moon just existin'.
