[ Majima doesn't know fuck all about running an internet café, but he stuck his head in to see just how dire the venture was. It's pretty pathetic, all the grimy space of a storage unit and a couple of flimsy tables and chairs. Why did this idiot kid ever think this would bring in customers?

He observes the third pick pocket trying to sneak out of the shop with the contents of the open cash register before finally stepping in, clothes lining the thief before crossing his arms. ]

Ya need t'get yer shit together.

[ He pulls the slat on the front of the 'shop' closed and proceeds to drag the idiot son down the side streets. His captive squawks and calls out for help. ]

(mikey's been playing bodyguard. he'd himself told the owner that this was a pathetic attempt at a lanhouse, to no avail, all the man did was whine and cry - and someone doesn't have too much patience for that. so, he's been stationed in front of it at late hours, paid by his time, and there has been no attempts no matter how much the blond prayed for something to happen.

Drifter Grifter

[ If said grifter had only done it once, Majima would have shrugged that everyone needs to eat. It's the collective number of complaints that have forced him to come out and find the culprit. Majima prowls the streets of Jigoku-cho, cigarette smoldering, and asks around for information from the wastes. He doesn't react to any guiltiness he might see in the faces of those who direct him. A few of them know exactly what they're doing. Majima tips them in cash and pats them on the shoulder anyway, smiling coldly.

Then he continues on his way. He finds his drifter warming his hands at a trash fire on the far side of a construction site. Majima gets the spiel... Nodding along sympathetically as he smokes. Upon the request's conclusion, Majima agrees to meet him at the bridge once he has acquired the requested convenience store food and liquor.

Which is why you will later find Majima hanging a dirty old grifter off the edge of the bridge by one leg. Majima leans his elbow into the wooden banister, chin in his palm, as he watches on with dispassionate amusement. He gives a shake.

Some money and food and snacks fall out of the grifter's jacket and are swept away by the water. ]

[ Majima has invited his small team to the White Koi, a Shuten clan bar that has a decorative side room that he uses for meetings within the faciton. He is there ahead of everyone else, frowning over his phone as he reads something.

Majima knows absolutely nothing about any variety of wilderness survival, but not knowing anything has never really stopped him before. So he's been doing his own research, expecting to supplement it with the knowledge of his team. His search history is a comical series of basic questions but he's getting the idea: Water. As much water as you can carry.

He looks up as people file in, tucking the phone into his shirt pocket.

Introductions are first. Who you are, where you're from, what your skills are. Then they can get into some logistics, both whatever is posed by his team and a few items of his own: ]

We don't know if we can take a vehicle th'entire way, so we need t'talk about how much ya think ya can carry.

[ He has a paper list of things he's been compiling while talking to people around town, reading things. They need to discuss what sounds the most absolutely necessary. ]

[So, more introductions, is it? It's useful: the only people involved in this that Kazuma recognizes are Majima himself, Eiichi, and unfortunately Sheliak. If they're really going to be spending a significant amount of time around each other while doing this, they probably ought to get along.

When it's his turn, he folds his arms and keeps a level gaze. He doesn't come off as entirely friendly, but he's not hostile either. Just detached.]

I don't know if I have anything in the way of survival skills, but I'm physically fit and I can use a sword.

[Really, the reason he's coming along is mostly because he hates feeling like he's not doing anything.]

[ Tsubaki's new here, to Shuten and Jigoku at large, and she'd be lying to say she wasn't nervous, but--what she's told Majima and others about being a traveler isn't untrue, and a mission like this is...familiar enough to make her a little disconcerted she finds it comforting. So she's sat quietly and fiddling with her hair before she speaks up to introduce herself.

She is steadfastly pretending she hasn't met Eiichi, but she really hasn't met most of the others besides Majima. ]

Minato

[ Truth be told, a part of him is second-guessing his involvement. It's one thing to be ordered on with no choice to back out, it's another to volunteer. It feels like something happening to someone else, not him. Eiichi's presence is both a new source of worry and a way of focusing himself: If nothing else, he can watch out for Kawase if/when they set out. Better this than worrying himself sick back home. ]

[ He raises a hand in greeting, tucking his worries behind a mask. ]

Suizenji Minato. I was on the rescue team during the cursed storm, so you could say this isn't my first outing. Like Asogi-san, I have some swordsmanship expertise.

[ He'd been wondering how to bring this up, but Majima's mention that they'd be cooperating with Sutoku for intel makes this easier. He wouldn't want Hu Tao to get into trouble for talking cross-faction. ]

I've heard rumours that Iron Bear's gang isn't just, mm, out-of-town gangsters. The phrase "death cult" was used. I don't pretend to know what that means, mind you.

[ He has an ugly hunch what they might be worshipping, but he doesn't know if he should say it. This is a world home to gods and devils, after all. It could be anything. ]

Eiichi

[Truthfully, Eiichi didn't have any interest in the bounty; he would be glad to see Ringo safe, though he couldn't care less about Kaberou and Iron Bear. Most of all, he just wanted to see what was out there; not for any sort of wanderlust, but for curiosity. There was something out there, and even Hell wasn't going to stay in its own little bubble forever.

Though, obviously Minato was always gonna be a worrywart about it, so he has the acute feeling like he's being babysat.]

Segawa Eiichi. I administer first aid and tend to any injuries that might come up. I've been looking into things like heat exhaustion and hypothermia in preparation, but you'd be better off not dealing with the longterm side effects. [Well, no shit.]

So if you have any other health issues, let me know. [Lookin' at you, Kazuma.] But you're out of luck if we run into any supernatural ailments. Who knows what messed up stuff exists out there.

[ The knock on the door is light, unhurried. Majima waits in the hall with his cigarette until he gets an answer, then ambles inside. He has a full day scheduled after this, he's in his full suit. Sleek black with a red tie, long hair loose. He's much calmer and more put together than any of the times Ryouma has met with him. Majima has gotten a better handle on who he intends to be. ]

Here t'collect, Sakamoto.

[ He isn't particularly urgent or perturbed in this statement. ]

⭐ CHILDE & SHELIAK

[ He's met them both down by the river, talked in halting and unfamiliar language about the magic he gained four months ago. His skill has improved since then, but not enough that he feels confident he could do this without them. Shockingly, he's not that proud. So he calls for both of them as news of the attack circulates. ]

[ It's time to take this show out to the public. Really, it's just another thing they need to practice... No matter how wild he acts, she can't react to it. There'd been no particular call to throws things while they were negotiating. Out here, he can easily invent one.

But first: the invitation. The crane lady kicks him out, which is very entertaining to him. So he has to go wait out on the street. He is not inconspicuous there: a Shuten lieutenant in his full suit with a big red bouquet of roses. Is it more or less annoying if one of her patients points to him out a window? ]

[she sees him alright, but she'll make him wait, as unhurried as a saint. Chiyo lets her know what happened, and she promises she'll deal with it, after she finishes helping her regular patients. and then maybe refiling their paperwork, and then going outside. even outside of her kimono, since she's working, she has to carry herself with the right posture, the cool gaze. like they talked about.]

I see you were informed that clinic space is for patients and staff, not social calls. Is there anything I can help you with, Majima?
