JIGOKUCHO COMMUNITY CLINIC

♬♬♬
Open from eight AM to eight PM, this Lost Soul-maintained clinic has been quietly offering assistance to those in need for the past several months. To those in the know, the red cross sign in the window is a beacon for people who need a professional's eye and who for one reason or another - financial, skeptical, etc. - would prefer the intimacy of a private facility. To those not, the whispers are enough to point you in the right direction, the general agreement to not shout about it and keep it under the radar, for affordable and easily accessed healthcare is worth its own weight in gold

Patients are primarily checked in at the front, and either seen by a doctor or one of the assistants. Everything from basic checkups to immediate care is available, as well as compounded medicine for those with particular ailments. To things that just can't be handled in the private space, the staff will see to the proper referrals. Walk ins are always available - even emergencies, just call the number on the sign with the hours.

For staff and volunteers, there's always something to do. Paperwork, attending to patients, taking turns on the front desk, supply transport and acquisition - there's always an assignment for the day, and a schedule written up to be followed on the local chalkboard. Yes, the space below can be for whatever doodles you want, or just writing in when you'll next need time off. The break room contains one Nice radio, courtesy of a certain audiophile, and whether one is following the intricacies of oni baseball or new tunes, it's treated with respect. The calendar pinned to the wall contains everyone's noted down birthdays as per their hiring sheets, and there is now debate on starting a book club, given the inclination of most working there.

The second floor of the clinic is not yet finished, but Dr. Dyer has plans for it, and it's being worked on during slower shifts. Cleaning, painting, and basic repair is to be expected, as well as getting it ready to include a few more beds for when overnight patients are needed. Out the back door, however, is the most popular place to take a break amongst those working - the herbal garden filled with medicinal plants, steadily maintained along the other tasks at hand. A pair of small benches offers a place to rest one's feet, and the scene of tranquility is complete with the sound of the recently installed fountain - the water within also has healing properties, and is used in treatments. But one doesn't need to be ill to appreciate a calming scene.

The city keeps them busy enough, and the clinic so far manages to persevere, putting down small roots in Hell.

(this is a mingle log for everyone who comes through the clinic through the month of september and onwards. all top levels are welcome, from those already involved to new patients to those curious about the workings. talk to your friends, get someone to look at you bleeding your own blood, help with whatever you like - the sky is yours.

if you have any questions, pm me, otherwise enjoy!) © tessisamess

Yes, I noticed. I have to admit, that was one task I decided didn't need my personal interference.

[ Which is to say, Kim had received orders to deal with the birds and had decided to overlook them. He's done enough for his clan; he sincerely doubts he'll be called into the Daitengu's office for a slap on the wrist for not succeeding in chasing down those awful creatures. He turns around, busying himself with getting equipment out of the cupboards. He's surprised that someone had come in for something like this, though he's pleased that he has; it shows far more self-preservation than many others he's encountered, guilty of suffering through the likes of bullet wounds while insisting that they were fine. Someone coming in to treat a cut before it gets a nasty infection is a nice change. ]

Go on and have a seat, Mr. Turner. The cuts don't look too bad -- some disinfectant and a good bandaging and you ought to be good as new. [ He faces Nero again, now equipped with disinfectant. He pours some onto the cloth. ]

Fair warning: this will sting.

[ And as soon as he gains Nero's consent, he will mercilessly clean those wounds. Better pain now than pain later! ]

smh, how many has he met?

I didn't set out to do it. Sometimes stuff happens.

[It's more that he feels bad when he sees people struggling with those birds and he's very bad at leaving people alone, even when he knows it would be better for him. Especially when he thinks he could lessen that burden just a little.

Nero's magic here is only has offensive applications at the moment. Things like healing don't come easily to him. Or maybe that increased healing hasn't come back just yet. Sooner or later it'll show back up again.

He eyes the disinfectant with slight weariness, and holds out his arm for Kim to get to work. While he flinches upon the first application, he doesn't pull away. There are many worse fates than the sting of disinfectant. The would could end up so bad that it gets cut off? Maybe? He's not sure how that works.]

All right, everything is looking good. It's not so deep -- I just need to bandage it, and you'll be good to go.

[ Kim reaches for a butterfly bandage, carefully sealing the wound shut and wiping off all of the excess disinfectant (and yes, a little blood), then grabs for some proper bandages to seal it up completely. ]

I'm glad that you came in. Most do not unless they're grievously injured. But in case you ever get a cut like this during an emergency, just know that it's fairly simple to deal with. Make sure that you disinfect it, bandage it, and keep it clean. Otherwise, it's far more important to keep an eye out for any signs of infection.

[ He glances up at Nero, the unfamiliarity in his expression as Kim sets about his work. ]

If... you know what those are?

ULTIMATE?!

[Nero stays as a still and obedient patient, watching carefully so he can do this himself later. The blood... he probably doesn't need to worry about. It's not like Owen is ever going to show up in a clinic, no matter how wrecked he might end up getting.]

No. I don't get a lot of injuries back home.

[More accurately he'd just heal it up without a thought. Wizard doctors might know what to look for, but there's only one of them and he's not Nero.]

What should I look for?
