[Shoto reads this. He reads it several times and then reads it again. Slaughtering things just because they exist doesn't seem right. Not just because it's slaughtering things just because they exist but, also slaughtering them because of their existence isn't right either. However, if some of them are a danger... that doesn't feel right either. But the more he explains, too, the more it makes sense in terms that maybe they had at home and didn't understand either.]

Even if I could argue your points, I wouldn't. This is something I don't understand very much of. I understand what you're saying but the nuances are lost to me. You're a curse that would've been born similarly to how people felt about my friend. I understand that much, and I understand how curses are born.

Can you tell me why your kind would need a specific sort of, what I understand to be, police. Sorcerers. Why is it they want to fight back against something that seems innocuous. You've had ample time to hurt me if you could.

Tell me something, too. Do you feel guilty when you step on a bug? No, right? What if you go fishing? Hunting? Does it make a difference when people do it for sport?

Everyone draws their own line when it comes to the value of a life. Most people agree they shouldn't kill other humans, but curses don't fall under that category along with them. Sorcerers are what they call the ones who think that makes it alright to kill us without a second thought. We're not policed. They're simply doing what they enjoy.

[Shoto didn't used to feel guilty about a lot of things and hearing this sort of situation resonates in the way that only gets worse. His fishing and hunting was to survive, but the fish and the animals were running for their lives. He understands that. That he gets immediately.]

I'm going to be precise. Are you saying that Sorcerers enjoy murder? Text doesn't allow tone. That is my actual question even if it comes off accusatory.

[Funny thing about text and tone, is how much easier it can be to fake concern. This really is the ideal way to spin the truth in his own favour.]

That depends on whether you call it murder when the target isn't human.

Some of them must enjoy it. If they don't, they might be working for someone who does. I can't pretend to know everyone's motivations. Only that the people I care about would be safer if they were called human, too.

If it's life, then it's murder. If it's someone preying on another life, then it's self defense. It still ends a life and that's not ideal, but everyone has a right to protect themselves.

Is that why you haven't told me until now? You thought I would kill you because you're not human?

[How laughable. While his limited energy may make it possible for more than just his natural enemies to hurt him, he's still fairly sure Itadori's the only one who poses an actual threat. Rather than hiding what he is, it simply hadn't come up.

Sparring is fine, but I don't want to fight you either. I'd much rather everyone get along. We have too much on our shoulders already.

[Against an expert manipulator who doesn't manipulate like Juuzou did, Shoto has a lot to learn. There'll still be a gathering of information, but now that he has a little more of the picture, he's starting to at least try to understand.]

Practice is important, isn't it? We can make an exception for that.

[A chance to learn the full extent of those powers probably isn't something to pass up. And, well, fine as he may be with inconsistency, it wouldn't take much digging to uncover how heavily he leans towards picking "fight" on other profiles.]

At least the balance in this world is better for everyone.

It seems more fair, everyone seems accepted in some way or another. I don't see the need for any fights that aren't for practice. You haven't hurt anyone since you got here, correct?

You don't have to use violence unless violence is used against you. There are strict ways of policing that don't need you to hurt anyone. If someone's doing that, they're not protecting everyone they can. Including themselves or the person they're detaining.

I think you are. If you haven't had to rely on force, then I think you're doing right by yourself as well.

[Not having to rely on force is one thing. Not getting the chance to use it unnoticed, though... In a place like this, visible to both the locals and lost souls alike, he's more restrained than anything. Holding back his natural instinct is the furthest from fair or "right" that his actions could ever be.

But the world isn't meant to be fair!]
