July Catch All
Who ⬤ Fukuda "Snack Hole" Tamotsu and whoever has the misfortune of encountering him
What ⬤ July substories and other semi-open prompts
When ⬤ Throughout the month
Where ⬤ Various
Content Warnings ⬤ General Fukuda Warning
[Office Work- Closed To Enmas]
[Fukuda is a weird guy in so many ways, even moreso now that he's somehow become a dogboy with hole powers, but one of them is his schedule, which doesn't seem to include sleep? He's always running on the late night patrol shift, and then comes in first thing in the morning to file his paperwork when morning shift people come in. Does he sleep during the afternoon? Hard to say but you'll certainly see him out and about in the afternoon as well, so??? He rarely seems tired, outside of the blood rain incident, but you may catch him in any of the following unusual situations;
1. Actually in one of his rare states of tiredness, nodding off at his desk and spilling his coffee onto the floor in the process
2. You open one of the file closets to find Fukuda in a pile of papers and boxes. Is he trying to reorganize or just making things worse?
3. Sniffing things.
4. Entering a room by making a hole in the door rather than opening it. It's awkward for him to clamber through the hole but he keeps doing this anyway.
But usually he is... normal? Normal for him. Always willing to help out if you ask him.]
[Clinic Visit]
[Fukuda's not really a fan of doctors due to his avoidance of being perceived in any way, but he's unfortunately got several concerns and also A Mission to accomplish, so he's going to be stopping by, probably multiple times. After all, there's a lot of things wrong with him. So he's walking in, slightly awkward, and leading with the insane opener of;]
Um, hello, I was hoping to talk to someone about... something?
[Helpful.
Anyway this is for anyone at the clinic, Fukuda has multiple issues so everyone can have their own discreet visit, lmf]
[Terrible House Guest- for Cain/Yuuji/Megumi]
[Now, Fukuda is from the modern era, so he like. Knows about texting. But he also has brain damage and is very excited about his new powers. So for a short while, before he is presumably banned from doing so, Fukuda will show up at these three's apartment, and rather than knock on the door, just makes one of his cool new holes in the wall. Hello, here is the hole man.]
A person on the street was handing out coupons, so who wants to go eat?
[He will take all comers.]
[Wildcard]

Herlock Sholmes? Did he, now?
[Goddammit, Sholmes. So much for keeping a low profile. If Fukuda's made it this far, on his partner's suggestion, no less... he supposes he'll play this game too. ]
It's quite possible. Tell me, what else do you know about Mr. Sholmes' partner? You see, I'm familiar with the stories of the detective's adventures as well-- perhaps we could narrow him down, if he happens to be among the clinic staff.
no subject
Well... in the stories I've read, his name is Dr. John Watson, but Mr Sholmes didn't seem to recognize the name, which I suppose makes sense since Mr Sholmes' name is slightly different from what I'm used to as well.
He's Mr Sholmes' closest friend and confidant, and despite being a medical doctor, often accompanies Sholmes on his cases. The stories are always written as if Dr Watson is the one recording them. He had served in the military, and was described as strong and a capable fighter despite his profession.
So, logically, he should be a British man at least in his 30s, a medical doctor, and from a world that is still roughly in the late 1800s. He's the reasonable, practical, and grounded counterpart that keeps Sholmes anchored.
Then again, the books I read also described Mr Sholmes as being a gaunt man with black hair, so who knows how many details of Dr Watson are different! That's what makes it difficult.

[ /PREENING SLIGHTLY. ✨✨✨
Mikotoba, now finished wrapping up Fukuda's wound, leans back in his chair and hums thoughtfully.]
I can't say I've met a Watson, but I do know of a Dr. Wilson. Sholmes' daughter, and the author of all of Sholmes' adventures, in fact. Unfortunately, that young lady isn't quite a military man, nor is she present within the walls of this clinic.
As an avid reader of her work, however, I do have it on good authority that Dr. Wilson took a number of liberties in creating her character Wilson. Sholmes' old partner was in fact the inspiration, but he was never an army medic. I've even heard the man wasn't British, but a visiting foreigner.
Perhaps you may want to look for the reasonable and grounded aspect, as opposed to the nationality?

However, Mikotoba just professed to being an "avid reader of her work," which means he in fact is from the same world as Sholmes, and one not only familiar with the stories, but privy to details about the truth behind the stories as they are presented. It's not 100% guaranteed, but really, based on what Mikotoba has said, the most logical conclusion is;]
It's you, isn't it? Dr. Mikotoba.
[His dog ears are perking up in interest.]

[The smile on his face is friendly and placid as he gets to his feet. Fukuda's nearly there-- the solution is just within reach-- but it's much more entertaining to hear the logic.]
There are other doctors here, after all. Your Dr. Wilson may be another of them.
no subject
You could be. But as you said, the real person that the "Dr. Wilson" in the stories is based on isn't British. So it's fairly likely his name isn't Wilson, especially if that's the name that Mr. Sholmes' daughter, who's writing the stories, has.
I also imagine the facts of the inspiration for the stories are closely guarded, after all, stories are more interesting when we think they're real, so any indication of altered facts, even if the rest is true, might make the general public less interested. Especially the fact that Dr. Wilson is using her name for her first person narrator character. That makes it sound to me that she is marketing them as having been written by the Dr. Wilson character himself. Which also means the fact that the real Dr. Wilson is Mr Sholmes' young daughter would also probably not be common knowledge.
Of course, I can't conclusively prove any of this. But I'm simply applying Occam's Razor here. You are not only from the same world as Mr. Sholmes, but you seem to have knowledge that would likely be beyond the average fan. In addition, you are a calm and reasonable doctor, who would be considered a foreigner in Britain. What I'm proposing is the simplest explanation for those facts.
Especially because you haven't denied my claim, only questioned it. Is it possible you're simply testing me?
[Binch.]
1/2
Do you know, Fukuda-san? The only other doctors at this clinic are women. Doctors Heng and Dyer. You haven't yet met them, or asked them of their worlds. It isn't unbelievable for the true inspiration for Dr. Wilson to have been a woman-- Iris herself is a young doctor, too-- or for her to have shared such little-known facts about Mr. Sholmes with me directly.

[The jig, at last, is up. If Sholmes doesn't see a problem with total secrecy anymore, well... neither will he. Mikotoba can only chuckle to himself.]
Wonderfully deduced, sir. I only wish I could've led you on a slightly longer chase.
no subject
Well then I'm glad you're relenting for the sake of their busy schedules! I feel like we really should have more than three doctors for the lot of us...
But honestly, I didn't expect to be successful so quickly! Oh! And I'm supposed to take a picture with you to send as proof to Mr Sholmes.
no subject
[But the attention's a little flattering, in a way, even if he's not so accustomed to it. Or to meeting a dogboy with a hole in his head. Will the wonders never cease.]
Photographic evidence, hm? I believe the devices we were given have small cameras in them, if you've got yours on you. [Though, it's bugging him:] What has my partner promised you for your efforts?
no subject
I do! And he said he would go on a date with me! We're going to the arcade.
[Surely everything about this situation is normal. He gets out his phone and effortlessly snaps a selfie with Mikotoba like the millennial he is.]
But I was asking him about you because I was curious about you too, Dr Mikotoba! Though I don't want to take up too much of your office hours.
no subject
He's not getting paid enough for this. Or, like, at all.]
Then I'd be delighted to catch up with you at greater length one of these days. It's not every day that I meet... a fan. [Sholmes is the one who has to deal with fans, not him, but at least Fukuda's nice enough? It feels a lot less awkward than it could to say it.
So, in spite of it all, he smiles:] I hope you both have a good time at the arcade, Fukuda-san.
no subject
Yeah! Thanks a lot, Dr. Mikotoba! When I get injured again I'll come see you for sure!
[SIR THAT'S NOT THE POINT!]
