(It wasn't just Hizen; June had been terrible for everyone and like many people, he'd needed time to recover from it all. Staying with Norimune, keeping low, resurfacing briefly to announce something for the city, and going back into hiding until he felt like he could return to normal had been his pattern. He'd ignored most contact with others, deciding to keep to himself and take things at his own pace.

After weeks, he'd felt like he was ready to try and return to normal. He leaves Norimune, returns to his place in Shuten territory, and resumes his usual habits of doing odd jobs and getting into fights for money. He stops to take a break, grabbing an onigiri and some tea from a konbini. He doesn't even notice that someone is nearby...)

[ahost]

[ - and that someone happened to the enma who finally got promoted and has enough money to quit his part-time gig with a restaurant/bar in the shuten turf. did he expect the ex-boss to pay him for the few days he worked in the month? no, but hey— he got a free takeaway dinner for two, and it's just as good as getting paid! if only ...

he now stands before his dear friend; the mild annoyance in his tone and that frown are unlike yuuji. it seems someone is still bitter about that incident. it didn't help that hizen didn't care enough to explain himself the entire time. ]

So ... Megumi told me a little assassin dropped me a visit the other day.

[ 'little'. that's right, he said it. ]

(He freezes and turns around to look. Man, this was sooner than he expected.

... Did he just call him little.)

Stuck around for a bit but had to leave. (He says like he didn't plan to leave exactly when Yuuji arrived.) Didn't tell me you had friends staying with you.

[ahost]

No, you didn't! He told me you purposely 'ran off' as soon as you heard me coming! What the hell was that about?!

[ while the situation didn't really beg for yuuji to be upset, but for some reason, he seemed genuinely annoyed by it. others might find it as innocent bickering between friends, and in any given situation yuuji would've found it amusing—

guess he still hasn't recovered from last month, huh. ]

I don't know. [ he shrugs. ] I didn't think it was something important to share ... ?

[harimaya]

(And he shrugs. He feels like he should finish eating his onigiri before this gets weird. Just a feeling.)

Dunno.

(ITS BECAUSE YUUJI SAID HE WASN'T CUTE ANYMORE WHICH FELT LIKE AN INSULT. To be fair, he would have done the same thing if Yuuji called him cute too. There is truly no winning in this situation.)

Since I was trying to surprise you, it would've been nice to know.

... 'Dunno'? Seriously?

[ what the hell is happening? why is this guy sassing him all of a sudden? threatening to launch a surprise attack, and then running off after meeting his roommates and now acting like he hasn't done anything weird? he's so— confused!

he tilts his head with one hand on his hip. ]

Fine. Try to surprise me again, and this time stay over for dinner.

It could be with my friends or just the two of us.

[ he smiled a bit, finally relaxing his shoulders as their conversation took a lighter route. honestly? he's just happy to see hizen is being — himself. a tiny bully with a sword, but at least things are back to normal between them.

he is okay. they will all be okay. right? ]

(Considering it,)

They're okay. (Said without any context and he explains,) Fushiguro and Cain.

(He'll allow them to share a meal with him. He won't actually say it out loud but he'll imply it.)

But I want my food. Ya owe me two meals.

(He's keeping count.)

[ he smirks, reaching over to offer the takeout meal he was holding. it's freshly cooked, made with love- ... to shut yuuji up from demanding his money so it should taste good. ]

We can share a meal right now? If you want.

[ well, not out here! perhaps after they find a place where they can chill and eat in peace. ]

I'll forgive you for being a bully if you do.

[harimaya]

(Looking at Yuuji. The food. Yuuji. And the food.)

... Fine.

(He accepts but first--)

Wouldn't have to be one if ya weren't a pain.

(He knows he's a bully.)

[ahost]

I like you. You're someone I care about, but if you pull that 'tease' again-

[ it could've been a sweet moment, it should have been the one to lighten the mood and bring them back to normalcy— but even with that unspoken threat, regardless of how genuine it is, there is no bite behind yuuji's words; only warmth.

he nods in the other direction, beckoning hizen to tag along. ]

Your place is close by, right?

[ is he inviting himself over? yes. ]

That's 'cause you're weird.

(He's not a likeable person! He's mean and a bully and he's difficult to get along with at all. )

And don't just invite yourself over.

(He says... while leading the way to his apartment.)

I just did!

[ he bites back, eyes playful. ah, he wondered what was in the takeout— his ex-boss didn't really tell him about this special farewell treat, so it seems him and hizen will find out together. ]

So! What do you think of Megumi? Be honest.

[ a very important question here. ]

Do you like him?

[harimaya]

(SUCKS ON HIS TEETH... Tch. Yuuji Itadori why are you like this. Fine, whatever, invite yourself over!! He'll allow it this time because he feels a little bad about getting him all worked up and stuff recently.)

...

(He's quiet. He doesn't really like answering these sorts of questions. He doesn't like to think about people.)

... He's okay.

(That's all he's going to say.)

Did you two form a bond?

[ he's aiming at something here, not just a random conversation. he gets closer to hizen's side as they walk, playfully leaning in his personal space as he kept teasing; a cunning grin paints his lips. ]

Did you notice any striking similarities you two share? Hmmmmm?

[harimaya]

(AGGRESSIVELY SHOVES HIM ASIDE,)

What are you talking about now?!

(Stop being so weird. He makes a face at Yuuji,)

Knock that look off your face before I knock it off for you.

[ahost]

[ that only managed to accomplish pushing yuuji away a few inches, which he ruined the progress by getting closer again. their shoulders touch for a brief moment, laughing a bit. ]

You know! You guys are similar in many things. You have the same vibe, almost the same features, and both of you love swords!

[ the handsome, dark-haired grumpy boys' category. ]

He must be your type!

[harimaya]

(He stops for a half second to really consider this. Dark hair, serious... honestly, he thought Megumi had a better vibe than him. He's just a moody teenager? Which Hizen most certainly is not. Honestly, Hizen just assumes everyone is better than him, though.

But really gets him is--)

My... "type...?"

(He isn't naive. He isn't oblivious. He has an idea of what Yuuji is getting at and this is his warning)

[ahost]

[ hizen, you are naive and oblivious. what are you talking about? the sorcerer ends up staring, a slow blink, and then- ]

Oh! No, no no no! Not romantically. 'Your type' as in someone you get along with instantly. Someone to befriend easy because you have a lot in common? You guys are too alike. Didn't you notice?

[ with a touch of similarity in personality, however— megumi is less hostile, and more coolheaded. as for that misunderstanding, yuuji drops a hand on the other's shoulder, dares to look him in the eye as he teased. ]

You two won't work that way! You know what they say? Opposite attract.

(Looks away.... looks embarrassed...... and places a hand on Yuuji's. Right on top of the one on his shoulder. He touches it very gently.)

[harimaya]

(AND GRABS HIS WRIST AND TWISTS HIS ARM)

[ahost]

[ in one second yuuji was blushing at the many, many possibilities of how this moment can progress between them — and in the next, he's in pain. he flinched, back arching a bit as the other boy fucking twisted his arm out of nowhere. wow! so that was an act?!! just to pull this cheap trick on him?!

that was too cruel, even for someone like hizen. ]

That was low!

[ he barks, yet he's not bothered to free his hand, the one still carrying the takeaway. he then holds it up like a hostage— yeah, that's happening. ]

Let go or the food gets it! I'll throw it against the wall!
