1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of fresh Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party for them. The leaders realize things have been chaotic in the city. So some recreational activities are in order. All Lost Souls will receive a message from their respective faction leaders with orders to go have some fun.

The Shuten Clan are given an advance on their first paycheck and told to go to the Celestial Phoenix Casino. A big sign on the half boarded up door proudly proclaims UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. What happened to the old management? It doesn't matter and stop asking questions! The important part is that all games and machines are half-price and there are special prizes available in exchange for your chips and tokens. Games range from the traditional Western style (poker, roulette, slots) to Japanese favorites (cee-lo, koi koi, cho-han).

As for prizes, they have a selection of designer goods, including some particularly nice bracelets, necklaces, and watches!

The Tamamo Clan are given a considerable number of drink vouchers for Crimson Moon Karaoke, where they can sing their hearts out and while absolutely smashed. Private rooms are cheap to rent and they even offer a special discount for groups of two or more. The karaoke machines have any songs you could possibly want, which is a little suspicious, but don't question it! Just get drunk and have fun. By all means, extend your time as you wish and drink up to get in the proper mood. This is an important bonding opportunity.

Oh yeah, as an important note: the rooms are soundproof. You can get as loud as you like, be it with singing or... something else. Don’t do anything Tenko-hime wouldn’t do!

Members of The Sutoku Alliance are given tickets to Fiance of the Funeral Procession at the Pluto Theatre and Cafe. The tickets include free food at the cafe, including beer. Sure, the star may not be a Sutoku member but that doesn't matter too much: getting butts into seats at Sutoku-owned theaters is what’s important. The Daitengu rented the theater out for the day, so there is plenty of time to mill around both before and after the show.

Make a day, or night, of it!

A funeral-based romantic comedy melodrama as the viewing fare is probably a tasteless joke on the Daitengu's part. But hey, y'all aren't still mad that they crashed their own funeral and then took off laughing, right?

Right?

The Department of the Enma members are told that they're going to be doing a team-building exercise. What exactly does that mean? That's right, it's community cleanup time! You get to clean up cans and trash in the street! You get the honor of using a department-issued bike with an attached cart to wheel around the city and pick up trash! How exciting! Teamwork is encouraged, of course. Teams that collect enough garbage will get one (1) voucher for mini-golf.

Please be aware of the local homeless population as you work, they won’t be happy to see you. They normally collect the cans in the mornings as a meager source of income that you’ll be dipping into. They're probably just not happy with Enma officials in general though. Sorry!

2. IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING...

By the time you're done with your faction-sponsored fun, the sky has decided to open up. Hope you brought your umbrella! The rain is bad enough that walking home might not be an option right now. So take refuge in one of the many nearby nightlife spots.

Not in your faction's home territory? Doesn't matter! Make some friends outside your group or maybe get into a fight and cause some trouble. There's always the third option of ignoring everyone and drinking yourself silly instead! The rain has to let up eventually… right?

Hopefully you aren't caught near one of the cursed Haniwa figures that have been popping up around town. Their aura really dampens the mood and may even start to cause some dramatic and frightening hallucinations if you and your rain-stranded friends stay near them for too long. But remember! Do not break the figurine. Just try to move it somewhere else? And hopefully not get drenched in the process.

[ Wow... this may be the first time his hand has been slapped, as though he was some smarmy lech trying to grab a maiden by the waist. Even so, he doesn't let go, still tugging the blond boy away from the figurine. If he wants to be under the awning so he can get out of the rain, that's fine, but he's going to have to stand in this corner.

Right here. Over here. Which still puts them too close together, but that's how it's gotta be. ]

Don't get close to it. [ He points. It!!!!! It there!!!! ] I haven't decided how to handle it yet.

[ Well that’s a thing when it’s grabbing Bakugou. He’s not a fan of people touching him and uh. Wel the blonde has been kidnapped before. Draw your own conclusions there.

Not that it seems as though this guy us really learning his lesson. He’s still tugging and pulling at Bakugou. Which he is about to gripe about - At least until he’s pulled into this dry corner. ]

Didn’t I just say -

[ Hah? Don’t get close to it? Red eyes narrow and his jaw snaps shut. He looks over and sees the statue. ]

What is it?

[ Talk about a 180 on the mood huh? ]

[ Satisfied that the other boy is a good distance away from the figurine and no longer in danger of getting wet either, Chongyun finally releases his grasp. They're still close, since there isn't much room beneath the awning, but there's still enough space between them that they aren't on top of each other.

And there's a good two feet between them and that thing. Chongyun turns his eyes back onto it with great suspicion. ]

A cursed object. I don't know what kind of curse, or who's been leaving them around ... but you don't want to break it. I'd even avoid touching it with your skin if you can.

[ Which is why he's glancing around again, still on that idea of using something as a long pair of chopsticks to pick it up off the ground with. ]

[ Releasing and Katsuki yanking his arm back of course. He gets that some distance needs to be maintained betweem them and the object in question. So he doesn't immediately try to put more distance between himself and the other boy. Doesn't mean that Bakugou has to LIKE being this close to another body.

Gross.

But the more important thing here really is the statue. If someone is leaving them around, then they are trying to curse people. But why? It doesn't seem like this is meant to target a specific person so - ]

Is it only in this territory?

[ So who would be the target? ]

[ Man, this guy acting like he smells or something ... which he definitely does not. Chongyun is a boy who takes a bath every day, thanks very much. ]

No. [ A shake of the head. ] From the rumors I've heard, they've been showing up everywhere.

[ It just feels worse than he had expected. Surrounded by various spirits and youkai in hell, this might be the first time he's felt something so keenly off. He had been looking for the malicious spirits, but, honestly, this isn't what he had in mind.

He crouches, bringing himself more eye-to-eye with the doll on its level without getting closer. Sealing it would be the best option, wouldn't it? ]

[ Maybe Chingyun does smell! Just maybe! But no... Katsuki is just Like This. Physical contact isn't something he much enjoys. ]

And what are they supposed to do.

[ Which might seem like a stupid question. Curses are curses, right? But really if they are meant to do a specific thing, Bakugou would rather know.

Then he can work out a method of maybe removing it, honestly? ]

I don't know.

[ Even if he doesn't like giving an answer given that he's an exorcist, it's the truth. He doesn't know. Yes, he could make a few guesses ... but that could just end up making things worse. ]

But I can sense that, whatever it is, it's bad.

[ Not that curses are ever good.

Gaze narrowing, Chongyun takes a step toward the haniwa before exhaling. Alright—he has to something about this. The aura is getting more and more oppressive the more they stand under the awning, and the rainfall only gets worse, a dull roar of drops hitting pavement. ]

I'll try handling it. [ he glances back at the other boy, ] Can you watch for anything amiss while I do? A dark shadow, something around me changing ... even the rain outside shifting. Anything is a clue.

[ Or an effect. ]

You can sense that it's bad.

[ Does this kid have danger senses too? Katsuki scoffs, making it rather obvious that he's skeptical. That the blonde doesn't really think that this guy can sense that something dangerous is underfoot.

And yet... When he does look at the little statue? There is something like unease that washes over him. So many there's something to it after all? ]

Hold on. Before you even touch that thing, what do you mean you will try handling it? You have a plan or something?

I'll try sealing it.

[ He exhales, extending his hands before him. There's a shimmer of blue energy that folds into the strokes of a paper talisman between his index and middle fingers; it keeps its soft hue even as the energy simmers off, leaving a physical charm in his hand. ]

... normally this wouldn't be a problem, but my strength here is limited.

[ He looks at Bakugo, eyebrow arched a little. ]

Unless you have an idea?

I have so many damn questions.

[ As in what the hell is he looking at. What is this brat doing. How is he doing that and how can Bakugou get back to doing actual damage? ]

Like I have any fucking clue how to deal with cursed shit.

[ Because he is an exorcist and a professional, thank you very much! Even if this boy seems like a crankypants. Still, after getting doused in the rain and then told to stand in a corner by a stranger, he kind of gets it. ]

In the middle of whatever it is that you are doing?

[ Oh come on. He's not stupid enough to actually interrupt the guy when he's. Gonna do whatever he's going to do.

But then the kid ( as if Bakugou is much older ) says he's an exorcist. So this is really his expertise. Bakugou ain't gonna fuck with that. ]

Just do what you're gonna do then I'll scream at you.
