1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of fresh Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party for them. The leaders realize things have been chaotic in the city. So some recreational activities are in order. All Lost Souls will receive a message from their respective faction leaders with orders to go have some fun.

The Shuten Clan are given an advance on their first paycheck and told to go to the Celestial Phoenix Casino. A big sign on the half boarded up door proudly proclaims UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. What happened to the old management? It doesn't matter and stop asking questions! The important part is that all games and machines are half-price and there are special prizes available in exchange for your chips and tokens. Games range from the traditional Western style (poker, roulette, slots) to Japanese favorites (cee-lo, koi koi, cho-han).

As for prizes, they have a selection of designer goods, including some particularly nice bracelets, necklaces, and watches!

The Tamamo Clan are given a considerable number of drink vouchers for Crimson Moon Karaoke, where they can sing their hearts out and while absolutely smashed. Private rooms are cheap to rent and they even offer a special discount for groups of two or more. The karaoke machines have any songs you could possibly want, which is a little suspicious, but don't question it! Just get drunk and have fun. By all means, extend your time as you wish and drink up to get in the proper mood. This is an important bonding opportunity.

Oh yeah, as an important note: the rooms are soundproof. You can get as loud as you like, be it with singing or... something else. Don’t do anything Tenko-hime wouldn’t do!

Members of The Sutoku Alliance are given tickets to Fiance of the Funeral Procession at the Pluto Theatre and Cafe. The tickets include free food at the cafe, including beer. Sure, the star may not be a Sutoku member but that doesn't matter too much: getting butts into seats at Sutoku-owned theaters is what’s important. The Daitengu rented the theater out for the day, so there is plenty of time to mill around both before and after the show.

Make a day, or night, of it!

A funeral-based romantic comedy melodrama as the viewing fare is probably a tasteless joke on the Daitengu's part. But hey, y'all aren't still mad that they crashed their own funeral and then took off laughing, right?

Right?

The Department of the Enma members are told that they're going to be doing a team-building exercise. What exactly does that mean? That's right, it's community cleanup time! You get to clean up cans and trash in the street! You get the honor of using a department-issued bike with an attached cart to wheel around the city and pick up trash! How exciting! Teamwork is encouraged, of course. Teams that collect enough garbage will get one (1) voucher for mini-golf.

Please be aware of the local homeless population as you work, they won’t be happy to see you. They normally collect the cans in the mornings as a meager source of income that you’ll be dipping into. They're probably just not happy with Enma officials in general though. Sorry!

2. IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING...

By the time you're done with your faction-sponsored fun, the sky has decided to open up. Hope you brought your umbrella! The rain is bad enough that walking home might not be an option right now. So take refuge in one of the many nearby nightlife spots.

Not in your faction's home territory? Doesn't matter! Make some friends outside your group or maybe get into a fight and cause some trouble. There's always the third option of ignoring everyone and drinking yourself silly instead! The rain has to let up eventually… right?

Hopefully you aren't caught near one of the cursed Haniwa figures that have been popping up around town. Their aura really dampens the mood and may even start to cause some dramatic and frightening hallucinations if you and your rain-stranded friends stay near them for too long. But remember! Do not break the figurine. Just try to move it somewhere else? And hopefully not get drenched in the process.

I'm certain there would be, they're handing out beer and other foodstuffs here, after all.

[Fried chicken served with rice and veggies and some sort of sauce? She doesn't see why there wouldn't be some thrown in. Or at least made available, from that little bit of description he gave her it seemed like it would be a simple dish.

She'll also have to admit to not being used to any of this in a theater. Or at least in a theater that isn't meant for the super wealthy.]

It's not a pain at all. We all have our favorites, and different foods we crave. Especially if we're somewhere unfamiliar.

[She gives him a soft smile in return. Hm... there was a few chicken dishes thrown into the pile of stuff she grabbed. Perhaps one of those could have been it? Anyway she moves to go ahead and stand and stretch herself out. Grabbing her captain's hat and great coat as well.] Come on, lets go have a peak.

[He feels a little flustered but Izuku is so out of his depth right now that he's glad that someone is willing to just do something as mundane as find fried chicken with him. So he starts to follow and starts to carefully scope out the dishes for anything that could be like chicken katsu.

He does notice her hat too!]

Ah- You're a member of the Sutoku Alliance, right? Your hat... Are you a higher-up?

[He should try to get to know some of the other members?]

It's not a problem.

[She hums back at him, it was more than nice to help out humans whenever she got the chance to. Even if it was as small as helping a boy find his favorite dish of comfort food.]

Oh, I am. In fact, most of everyone here should be. But, no I'm not a higher-up in this organization.

[Not in this one. Perhaps she might in the future, but for now Enty was content in letting things play out as they are until she can get settled in.]

I'm Enterprise, it's nice to meet you.

Ah, it's nice to meet you too, Enterprise-san.

[What a name? Izuku is a little confused but he's here in a strange place and just got hurled into a Hell-faction so who's he to question that right now?]

I'm Midoriya Izuku. New to the Sutoku Alliance today...

[There's a blue guy named Toraguma, a foxwoman named Tenkohime, and their boss to name some obvious ones. There's quite some interesting names here! At least she seems to be taking it in stride, having not really announced herself yet or anything.]

Another thing that seems to be the case here. But I suppose that's to be expected at a pseudo-sort of welcome party for newcomers.

[Something else she hadn't been expecting, hospitality. Things haven't ceased to surprise her!]

Are any of those dishes it?

[She gives a nod towards a few passing plates with chicken on them. Some of them looked like they were fried!]

[Yeah, the hospitality is nice, oddly enough. And all the food.]

Ahh... Yeah, there are some fried chicken dishes there...!

[He reaches out to take one. It's not exactly chicken katsu but it will work. He doesn't want to be overly picky in this situation.]

I guess in the end this sort of setup to help welcome people isn't terrible.

[Could be worse.]

[Now she's going to think that is chicken katsu. Izuku, you fool! Also she'll go ahead and grab some for herself. Just ignore the fact that she had just finished a mountain of plates not that long ago.

Enty needs lots of fuel, okay?]

It does help make a person feel welcomed.

[And easier to connect with others while building up some form of comradery.]

I'm guessing you're from somewhere similar?

[Wow, she's ... amazing. If she can eat this much? Izuku will have to make sure to get her some real authentic chicken katsu someday. Which would mean finding an actual place that sells it or asking his classmate Bakugou Katsuki to help him cook it. And the second option is the harder of the two...]

I guess you could say that. Before showing up here I lived in a city in Japan. Musutafu, Japan. And this place looks a lot like a Japanese city.

[But...]

Nothing like a spirit realm though. W-what about you?

[Japan... ah- the other name for the Sakura Empire. She munches on some more chicken as she listens to him speak. Yes, please teach her how to make actual, chicken katsu! It will be another skill she can add back home.]

I've lived... well everywhere. But I'm originally from the Eagle Union, or United States and am part of the Navy.

[To put it mildly at least. No coming out and immediately proclaim herself to actually be a ship... yet. She's already been given a few confused looks prior.]

Unfortunately, I can't really say I've had much experience with the afterlife either.

[Time travel and interdimensional shenanigans though? That would be a yes.]

[Fried chicken is still delicious so he's munching on that with some comfort.]

Ah...! [He perks up. Izuku might actually be a bit of a fan of the army and navy from the United States! His favourite hero worked there!] That would explain it! Your hat and your name...?

[Well, he hasn't quite put it together why her name is a ship name yet. But it sort of makes sense?]

Yes, I'm an off officer back home. [Here though, hm- well not really an officer, but she supposed there was always the opportunity to work her way up if she wanted to. A bit of potential food for thought.]

I'll have to admit to being kind of surprised at the amount of people from places that are at least somewhat familiar to home.

[Even if it isn't her home, the concept is easy enough for her to swallow, given all of everything that had been going on, and what she usually had to deal with. She couldn't imagine what Izuku must be going through at the moment.]

[It's a whole new concept to him and honestly he's stressed out about but when isn't he stressed out about something? This just adds to the mountain of it all.]

It's a big surprise for me too. It's ... a little hard to wrap my brain around that part.

[He gives a weak smile.]

But since we're here, it's probably better not to think too hard on all of the details of it all. Or at least try to? At least it's still nice to hear about the similarities.

No, I suppose it might not be worth it to think on too hard.

[Not at the moment, anyway. For her it is worth it in the sense of worrying over what, or who, might happen to appear. As well as the when and where they were from. Enterprise still matches his smile with her own.]

Similarities... what's your home like then?

[He quickly swallows the bit he has in his mouth.]

This city, in particular, is a lot like Tokyo in Japan! I don't live there but the city I do live in is a fairly big one. I just wasn't expecting Hell to look so much like a city in Japan.

[Does that say something about Japan? He hopes not...]

But youkai and spirits... I've never seen anything real like that besides things in books or comics.

To be fair, neither did I. It was quite jarring, wasn't it? But I imagine it probably helped get a bit more used to the environment.

[Tokyo for him huh? It didn't really resemble the Sakura Empire she knew all too much, beyond the culture and a few things she could point out here and there. You know, barring everything else that's different about the city.]

You probably know more about the youkai and spirits that inhabit this place than me. There's not really much here that I recognize personally.

Yeah. If things are anything like I read about, I think.

[He nods a little. But honestly, Japan has pretty rich folklore for these sorts of things anyway so Izuku might actually be able to recognize what a lot of the youkai and spirits are just by being Japanese or having read stories.]

What is it like where you're from?

[He's still not quite used to the idea that other people are from other worlds entirely.]

[At least Izuku has that going for him. It was probably more of an advantage than some of the people here have. Certainly more than Enty has. Perhaps if one of the Sakura girls shows up she might try and get a bit of additional info from them.

But so far she didn't have any indication that one had, or would.

That was fine, she's used to facing things on her own.]

Oh, where I'm from?

[The shipgirl thought about that for a moment.] Hm... where I'm from- I can't really give a single description. You'll usually find quite a few different ideals and ways of life back home and at large.

[She'll forgo some of the more nitty-gritty details. No talking about time and dimension hopping aliens. Or wisdom cubes. Or war. Not yet, anyway.]

It's sort of like here? But with a much different way of life. The technology's somewhat similar... Mm- no, actually they are quite similar to one another. Though I feel like back home everything felt bigger, more open?

[That is a little confusing but Izuku would probably be a little glad not to be overwhelmed with the idea of time and dimension-hopping aliens right now.]

Ah... Like an alternative Earth...?

[That's the only thing he can really relate it to. He's starting to realize this sort of thing. That his Earth and someone else's Earth really are that different.]

Yes, like an alternative Earth.

[It was probably something most people here can relate to. One of the more easier things to swallow, perhaps. Given a fair amount of people's evident, shared connectivity with over all. Who knows, perhaps that alone would help everyone come together more peacefully overall?

She takes a bite from her chicken.]

Are things peaceful where you're from?

[He might choke for a fraction of a second on his bite of chicken. Whoops, that's a loaded question.]

Erm. Not exactly...

[It's complicated.]

There's actually a sort of war happening in my world at the moment. It's one of the reasons I hope to get back soon. If I can.

[Like if he's not entirely dead and stuck in hell.]

Ah- I see.

[She nods her head. Of course there was a war, there always is.]

I understand that all too well. You must be worried then.

[He can't help feeling a little worried and sheepish at the same time. He rubs the back of his hair.]

Yeah, I am. But... I'm trying to adopt the mantra of... One thing at a time?
