May 2022 IC Mingle

MAIN NAVIGATION
1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE
The influx of fresh Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party for them. The leaders realize things have been chaotic in the city. So some recreational activities are in order. All Lost Souls will receive a message from their respective faction leaders with orders to go have some fun.
The Shuten Clan are given an advance on their first paycheck and told to go to the Celestial Phoenix Casino. A big sign on the half boarded up door proudly proclaims UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. What happened to the old management? It doesn't matter and stop asking questions! The important part is that all games and machines are half-price and there are special prizes available in exchange for your chips and tokens. Games range from the traditional Western style (poker, roulette, slots) to Japanese favorites (cee-lo, koi koi, cho-han).
As for prizes, they have a selection of designer goods, including some particularly nice bracelets, necklaces, and watches!
The Tamamo Clan are given a considerable number of drink vouchers for Crimson Moon Karaoke, where they can sing their hearts out and while absolutely smashed. Private rooms are cheap to rent and they even offer a special discount for groups of two or more. The karaoke machines have any songs you could possibly want, which is a little suspicious, but don't question it! Just get drunk and have fun. By all means, extend your time as you wish and drink up to get in the proper mood. This is an important bonding opportunity.
Oh yeah, as an important note: the rooms are soundproof. You can get as loud as you like, be it with singing or... something else. Don’t do anything Tenko-hime wouldn’t do!
Members of The Sutoku Alliance are given tickets to Fiance of the Funeral Procession at the Pluto Theatre and Cafe. The tickets include free food at the cafe, including beer. Sure, the star may not be a Sutoku member but that doesn't matter too much: getting butts into seats at Sutoku-owned theaters is what’s important. The Daitengu rented the theater out for the day, so there is plenty of time to mill around both before and after the show.
Make a day, or night, of it!
A funeral-based romantic comedy melodrama as the viewing fare is probably a tasteless joke on the Daitengu's part. But hey, y'all aren't still mad that they crashed their own funeral and then took off laughing, right?
Right?
The Department of the Enma members are told that they're going to be doing a team-building exercise. What exactly does that mean? That's right, it's community cleanup time! You get to clean up cans and trash in the street! You get the honor of using a department-issued bike with an attached cart to wheel around the city and pick up trash! How exciting! Teamwork is encouraged, of course. Teams that collect enough garbage will get one (1) voucher for mini-golf.
Please be aware of the local homeless population as you work, they won’t be happy to see you. They normally collect the cans in the mornings as a meager source of income that you’ll be dipping into. They're probably just not happy with Enma officials in general though. Sorry!
2. IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING...
By the time you're done with your faction-sponsored fun, the sky has decided to open up. Hope you brought your umbrella! The rain is bad enough that walking home might not be an option right now. So take refuge in one of the many nearby nightlife spots.
Not in your faction's home territory? Doesn't matter! Make some friends outside your group or maybe get into a fight and cause some trouble. There's always the third option of ignoring everyone and drinking yourself silly instead! The rain has to let up eventually… right?
Hopefully you aren't caught near one of the cursed Haniwa figures that have been popping up around town. Their aura really dampens the mood and may even start to cause some dramatic and frightening hallucinations if you and your rain-stranded friends stay near them for too long. But remember! Do not break the figurine. Just try to move it somewhere else? And hopefully not get drenched in the process.

Soo Won | Akatsuki no Yona (Slumscape CRAU) | Tamamo newbie
[A welcome party sounded like a great way to meet his fellow clanmates. The sheer number of drink vouchers he was given was a bit intimidating, but he didn’t complain. A few drinks with friends wouldn’t hurt. He will just give away the rest. His time in Hakegamachi helped Soo Won adjust to modern time but there was still a lot of new sights in Jigokucho. He had never been to a karaoke bar before. Miyako, the yokai inside him instantly perked up when she heard the music and the people closest to Soo Won could hear a faint excited flurry of notes from a gottan in their minds. Both her and Soo Won’s excitement dimmed when they noticed people singing.
Miyako musically deflated with a deep twang that grew steadily quieter and ended with a sharp note of disappointment. This wasn’t fair. She was mute and her illusions weren’t working here. Soo Won smiled sympathetically.]
Do you want to leave?
[Soo Won spoke quietly so as not to draw too much attention to him seemingly talking to himself. It was unfortunate but music was important to Miyako and it would be cruel to stay in a music-rich environment that she couldn’t enjoy.
Miyako answered with a stubborn string of notes that shifted up with a stubborn, brighter sound. Not a chance! She could still enjoy it vicariously through her foolish partner who she did not need pity from. She exerted a little more control to push him toward the stage. Soo Won’s body moved a step on its own before Miyako relinquished control. Soo Won stifled a surprised gasp and turned it into a slightly strained chuckle. He hated it when she did that.]
I’ll take that as a no.
[Oops. Miyako shrunk back a little at the subtle anger emanating from Soo Won. She half apologized with a gentler melody before possibly ruining it with an insistent nudge. She had already dug her hole so she might as well get something out of it. Soo Won inwardly rolled his eyes. Miyako’s passion for music was endearing so he let it slide for now.
His sunny disposition quickly returned as he took his turn singing. Soo Won let Miyako choose what song which she picked randomly. It was more fun that way and Soo Won agreed with an amused smile. Here goes nothing. Soo Won sounded a bit hesitant at first as he got used to the song and reading the lyrics but all the time he had spent with Miyako helped. Once he got the hang of it he was surprisingly good.
Miyako waited until Soo Won was finished before erupting in a surprised flurry of notes. What? Soo Won chuckled with a shrug.]
Ah, hidden talent I guess?
[Maybe Miyako’s musical talent was rubbing off on him.]
B. It's raining blood, again (cw: blood, hallucinations)
[All good things come to an end. Soo Won’s happiness washed away with the rain as a chill deeper than the cold seeped into the back of his mind. Even Miyako was deathly silent. Soo Won tried to ignore the nightmarish memories that threatened to appear in the watery reflections around him as he quickly tried to get out of the rain. He wasn’t sure where he ended up when he was forced to take shelter. He closed his eyes and ran his hand through his drenched hair with a sigh. It was fine. They weren't in Hakegamachi anymore.
He hadn’t noticed the Haniwa figure next to him until he smelled a familiar metallic smell amid the rain. Soo Won’s eyes shot up with a terrified gasp. Soo Won froze in horror at the familiar sight of blood raining from the sky. Soo Won flinched at the drops of blood that fell onto his skin and seeped into his skin. No. Soo Won staggered away from the haunting sight and into someone else who he quickly pushed away with a panicked scream.]
Stay away from me!
[Soo Won’s voice was raw with emotion and there was a desperate plea woven into his threat. He didn’t want to hurt anyone this time.]
C. Wildcard
[Feel free to make your own prompt if you want something different. You can plot with me at
B!
That desire quickly falls to the wayside when he hears someone let out a loud, strangled gasp. Expecting there to be something terrible hiding just around the corner, he hurries over, only to see a whole lot of nothing: just a young man, terror in his eyes, standing stock still before one of those horrible little dolls. But as soon as he gets close, the young man lashes out, clearly not in his right mind. ]
I am not touching you, [ he says, holding both hands up in surrender, voice slow and calm. ] It's fine. Nobody is going to hurt you. [ Futilely, he turns his collar up against the rain, looking around for the source of his panic. It couldn't possibly be the doll... could it? ]
Just take a deep breath.
no subject
You don't understand.
[He wasn't afraid of him. The rain continued to dye his body red as the the haunting memories of what he had done under the blood rain's influence threatened to overwhelm him. He was afraid of what he would do to Kim.]
I'm the one that will hurt you if you don't leave now!
no subject
[ Usually, Kim would read someone reacting this way to him as having some sort of mental breakdown. To be treated carefully and with distance, of course, in case they struck out wildly or had a weapon in their possession, but he wouldn't feel as though he's in any actual danger. In a place like this, though? The idea of someone having dangerous powers is a reality that he should in no way underestimate.
Nonetheless, it doesn't sit right with him to simply abandon him. ]
I'm just going to move this away from you, [ he says, crouching down to pick up the haniwa with gloved hands and looking around for a spot in which it's unlikely that someone will stumble upon it by accident. ] While I do that, why don't you tell me what it is you're afraid of?
no subject
Don't touch that.
[His sharp warning carried the weight of someone whose orders should be obeyed. Soo Won preferred not to carry himself like a king but the situation called for it.]
You might agitate the blood more and I can't fight against it.
no subject
Kim really doesn't care to try his luck. ]
I have handled them before - carefully - with no repercussions. The only thing different about this is that you're here. Now, I could just leave, as you asked me to, but chances are, someone less inclined to listen than I am will come across you, and you'll wind up hurting them instead. [ Or not, but it's easier to go along with the situation as presented. God knows if horrible blood demons are going to crawl out of the rain, or if this young man will just whip out a gun and shoot them. ]
So why not tell me what's going on?
no subject
Except you are not listening! I don't want to hurt you either!
[Soo Won was startled by his outburst and he held his head in his hand with a deep sigh. His head was starting to hurt and underneath his volatile emotions he let a hint of how weary he really was show.]
It's the blood rain. If the blood touches you, it will try to control you. I also thought I could stop it but I couldn't, and neither can you.
no subject
[ Kim glances out at the rain, then back over at Soo Won. He has a feeling that saying that he's able to protect himself will do very little in the way of diffusing the situation, and so decides to keep that thought to himself. Though, frankly, if someone were to attack him underneath these circumstances, he'd just run. ]
I have been out in the rain all evening, [ Kim says, voice as slow and patient as it was before. ] I've seen no blood. It's done nothing to me. See?
[ He raises his arms slowly, demonstrating the fact that he's sopping wet, his jacket dripping with it. ]
It's just rain. It's going to be all right.
sorry I'm late
So it's just a hallucination this time?
[Soo Won cautiously started to relax. It would hardly be the first time one of his regrets was turned into a waking nightmare. But what if he was wrong? His regret felt like a noose, keeping him trapped in the nightmarish memories from when the blood rain was real. He struggled to push back it and hesitantly called out to Miyako, too shaken to hide the conversation in his mind.]
Yin?
[Miyako answered with a faint note from her gottan that echoed in Soo Won's and Kim's mind. She wasn't sure what was real either and it was hard to think with Soo Won's distress but one thing was different. She wasn't being controlled this time so maybe Kim was telling the truth? She hoped he was. The blood rain wasn't a good memory for either of them and she stubbornly managed a tired chord to prove she was still herself, not mad with the blood's memories of revenge like last time.]
no worries!!
[ Now that Kim's not worried that Soo Won is going to attack him - though he hopes that that fear is reasonably abated and he won't get assaulted the moment he turns his back - he bends down to carefully scoop the Haniwa up. There's not much he can do with it beyond relocating it on a ledge where it will be visible and nobody will be in danger of trodding on it, but it's better than where it was, terrorizing innocent people just looking to get out of the rain. ]
It's all fine, see? The doll is out of the way too. [ He looks deeper into Soo Won's expression this time, trying to spot any sign of drug or alcohol use; enlargement of the pupils, yellow eyes, sallow skin. ]
I don't know who you may be mistaking me for, but... my name is Kim Kitsuragi. [ He says it firmly, politely, trying to coerce them into some sense of normalcy through sheer etiquette alone. ] What is yours?
sorry this is got lost
There were no signs of drug or alcohol in Soo Won's eyes and he pushed his fading fear and awful memories behind a polite smile.]
Soo Won and the music you hear is Yin. She's who I was talking to. It's complicated.
[He added with a weak chuckle. His relationship with the yokai inside him, who possessed him against his will in order to survive was not the easiest thing to explain.]
