1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of fresh Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party for them. The leaders realize things have been chaotic in the city. So some recreational activities are in order. All Lost Souls will receive a message from their respective faction leaders with orders to go have some fun.

The Shuten Clan are given an advance on their first paycheck and told to go to the Celestial Phoenix Casino. A big sign on the half boarded up door proudly proclaims UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. What happened to the old management? It doesn't matter and stop asking questions! The important part is that all games and machines are half-price and there are special prizes available in exchange for your chips and tokens. Games range from the traditional Western style (poker, roulette, slots) to Japanese favorites (cee-lo, koi koi, cho-han).

As for prizes, they have a selection of designer goods, including some particularly nice bracelets, necklaces, and watches!

The Tamamo Clan are given a considerable number of drink vouchers for Crimson Moon Karaoke, where they can sing their hearts out and while absolutely smashed. Private rooms are cheap to rent and they even offer a special discount for groups of two or more. The karaoke machines have any songs you could possibly want, which is a little suspicious, but don't question it! Just get drunk and have fun. By all means, extend your time as you wish and drink up to get in the proper mood. This is an important bonding opportunity.

Oh yeah, as an important note: the rooms are soundproof. You can get as loud as you like, be it with singing or... something else. Don’t do anything Tenko-hime wouldn’t do!

Members of The Sutoku Alliance are given tickets to Fiance of the Funeral Procession at the Pluto Theatre and Cafe. The tickets include free food at the cafe, including beer. Sure, the star may not be a Sutoku member but that doesn't matter too much: getting butts into seats at Sutoku-owned theaters is what’s important. The Daitengu rented the theater out for the day, so there is plenty of time to mill around both before and after the show.

Make a day, or night, of it!

A funeral-based romantic comedy melodrama as the viewing fare is probably a tasteless joke on the Daitengu's part. But hey, y'all aren't still mad that they crashed their own funeral and then took off laughing, right?

Right?

The Department of the Enma members are told that they're going to be doing a team-building exercise. What exactly does that mean? That's right, it's community cleanup time! You get to clean up cans and trash in the street! You get the honor of using a department-issued bike with an attached cart to wheel around the city and pick up trash! How exciting! Teamwork is encouraged, of course. Teams that collect enough garbage will get one (1) voucher for mini-golf.

Please be aware of the local homeless population as you work, they won’t be happy to see you. They normally collect the cans in the mornings as a meager source of income that you’ll be dipping into. They're probably just not happy with Enma officials in general though. Sorry!

2. IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING...

By the time you're done with your faction-sponsored fun, the sky has decided to open up. Hope you brought your umbrella! The rain is bad enough that walking home might not be an option right now. So take refuge in one of the many nearby nightlife spots.

Not in your faction's home territory? Doesn't matter! Make some friends outside your group or maybe get into a fight and cause some trouble. There's always the third option of ignoring everyone and drinking yourself silly instead! The rain has to let up eventually… right?

Hopefully you aren't caught near one of the cursed Haniwa figures that have been popping up around town. Their aura really dampens the mood and may even start to cause some dramatic and frightening hallucinations if you and your rain-stranded friends stay near them for too long. But remember! Do not break the figurine. Just try to move it somewhere else? And hopefully not get drenched in the process.

[Ibaraki looked like a drowned cat in her soaking wet kimono and drenched hair. Stupid rain... and her apartment was still a ways away. Her nose wrinkled and she rubbed her arms. What she would give for one of those mochi that heated you up right about now.]

Mm, curse this sudden weather change! Honestly, we should have been told the forecast beforehand.

[But of course, this is still hell. Sooo yeah....] Almost like they want us to catch our death out here.

[But- maybe she could leverage this to get Shuten to pay special attention to her?]

Ahaha, we’re too useful to them for that. We might catch a common cold, though. Especially you, poor thing~ [Cooed with convincing-sounding sympathy. She takes a closer look at the drenched heroic spirit, noting her distinctly non-human appearance. Those horns, those teeth, those claw-like hands…HMMMM! Verrrryy interesting.]

I wonder if there’s somewhere nearby where we could start a little fire to warm you up? I have some matches on me.

[Yes... gaze upon her. Gaze upon her and TREMBLE IN FEAR.]

Ha!? As if I would be so weak and demure as to catch some common cold.

[Mighty and powerful oni, such as herself, obviously don't catch colds silly! Note: she can totally catch a cold right now and it will absolutely suck and she will absolutely cry about it. Such is the life of a banana.]

A fire though? Umu, I doubt there is anywhere that we could start such a thing.

[Maybe they should just go inside somewhere? But that would be admitting to weakness.]

[Bulleta, through sheer force of will, manages not to roll her eyes at Ibaraki’s claim. She just gives a little wink and moves on to addressing the second part.]

You can start a fire practically anywhere if you’re committed enough~ ♪ But~ I guess you’re probably right. It’d be better to go inside.

[So much for her plan to lure this probable oni into a secluded alley with the promise of warmth and do her in. Ah well. Another time. The awning they were under wasn’t attached to a storefront proper - it was more of an open-air stall. Not much in the way of insulation. It looks like there’s an open business down the street, though!]

Hmm… Care to make a run for it with me?

Hahaha! Yes you can! Unfortunately there is a lack of wooden structures here to make the flames more brilliant!

[Ugh, be still her beating heart. Smoke, blatant arson, screams as people run from the flames in terror... valuables left unguarded. Yes, yes it would be exactly like the capital all over again~! She can't help the amused smirk on her lips as fond memories enter her mind. Good times.]

Huh? Oh! Yes, come and hurry the water's falling even harder now!

[She's not even waiting before making a dash for it!]

[She takes off in hot pursuit. The sign outside declares the shop Wow!Sweets. Ibaraki has, no doubt, continued to not wait for so much as an instant so after shaking herself off gently, Bulleta steps inside to meet back up with the girl. The rows of jars glisten and gleam and the whole place gives off a pleasant sweet smell (wow!)]

A candy shop? So they have places like that in this world too…

Of course they do! Even the denizens of hell cannot deny the delicacies known as sweets.

[Well, that's her opinion anyway as she shakes out her bright, yellow hair and rings out her loose kimono sleeves. She doesn't even really stop to do it, instead she's already going about browsing the shelves.]

Fufu, indeed you have certainly lucked out that this was nearby!

[BULLYING IS INEVITABLE! SUBMIT TO YOUR FATE!! The shop keeper, a gruff-looking yamawaro, gives Ibaraki A Look as she gets water all over the floor. With a resigned sigh, he goes to get a mop.]

Hm. Is that right? You look pretty excited about it, yourself. I thought monsters like you were more into eating flesh.

[There’s a note of condescension in her voice. She idly follows behind Ibaraki, examining the jars in kind.]

[SHALL NOT SUBMIT TO BULLI! Will bully back instead! She'll also go ahead and very stealthily start stuffing a few easy to miss pieces of candy in her robes once the shopkeeper wasn't looking.

Can't keep a good kleptomaniac down.]

Fufu... of course I've devoured all manner of flesh! Turned eyes into jelly and ground down bones to make bread. But... sweets are better in the end.

[Speaking of she'll go on and start picking out handfuls of stuff to actually buy while still slipping a little bit away.]

Is that right? [She watches Ibaraki pocket the candy with a droll interest and considers ratting her out to the shopkeeper, who has returned and is quietly mopping the floor behind them.]

…Heh, you’re like a little kid. [Says the 14 year old human. She decides against snitching, at least for now. As much as she’d love to see this monster getting her comeuppance, it was best to keep up the appearance of vaguely amiable relations while they were in a public establishment like this. Word travels fast around the city.]

What are you exactly, anyway? One of those "oni"?

[Ratting her out might also get miss red hood also tossed back out to the rain. At least the oni was, mostly, behaving herself?]

[Huffs, now see if she shares any of her newly gotten treasures with you! Not that she would anyway. More cany goes into her "purchase" bag.]

Sure, sure. Physical and mental age are two entirely different beasts. [Bulleta waves a dismissive hand when Ibaraki asserts her age and simply rolls her eyes at that 'slow' quip.]

There are all sorts of monsters in this place that didn't show up back home or in Majigen - that includes oni. I'm very interested in learning about them! Gosh, though, calling yourself the strongest or was that the second strongest? is a pretty bold claim~ Isn't one of the faction leaders an oni?

[She doesn't get it, now excuse her as she grabs even more candy, enough to feed a whole classroom. All to herself, and maybe Shuten if she wants any. Also, no one is stronger than Shuten, that's an obvious given that even Ibaraki herself will admit to!
