OOC Context: Yuri is coordinating relief efforts for the displaced Kappa and mods have approved temp housing for them in a warehouse provided by the Alliance. He'll need help from Lost Souls to get supplies there! Sutoku members will receive a message from him. If your muse is not Sutoku but would like to pitch in, you can assume word got out through the grapevine.

Hi gang. Been a fun month, hasn't it? Especially for our Kappa friends.

On a serious note, the Kappa are in need of shelter. I spoke with the Alliance and they've agreed to convert an unused warehouse to housing space. I'm looking for help with set up and supplies, as well as with getting the word out.

Message me if you can lend a hand. Every bit helps.

[ If you express interest, Yuri will follow up with details and the address of the warehouse. He'll ask you to use discretion who you share the location with since he doesn't want to attract trouble for the Kappa.

When you reach the location, you'll find a warehouse with running electricity and racks that have been pushed to one side to make room. The warehouse has been sectioned off into a sleeping area, a common area, and a storage area that the Kappa have been filling with equipment they've managed to retrieve from underground. ]





[ Yuri will be seeking volunteers to serve food at the food lines the Alliance has negotiated for from local restaurants. We'll need drivers to help transport nonperishable donations to the warehouse. People to carry it all. Bookkeepers to track the numbers. Anyone willing to network with nearby businesses to procure supplies or temp jobs for the Kappa to get back on their feet. Idk... morale boosting activities? Maybe someone can hook up a karaoke machine. Feel free to bring your own ideas!

[It was surprising, when you gave people a chance, how often they would just turn out to be people. The hashihime under the bridge that swatted his tail and made him clean up his graffiti, the kappa that were trying to get by with their specialized skill, the streets of Jigoku-cho were a lot more familiar in that sense than he liked to admit.]

I've just got a lot of time to kill.

[he dismisses the praise, a little bashful]

Rather, you know, if it's just stuff that needs moving it's a lot easier for me. I'm not great at the part where it comes to filling out paperwork and asking bosses for stuff. Especially not these bosses. So! If someone's done the hard part, then it's easy for me to just pick up things here and there.

All the same, you're doing valuable work. The Tengu elders are keen to see this succeed. Maybe we'll even get a raise when this is over. I'll certainly put in a good word about you all, heheh.

[ Leave the asking to him. Yuri's not shy about going after what he wants from whoever he wants. This time he hasn't even had to twist anyone's arm, he'd simply proposed a solution to the headache the Alliance had been dealing with and the Tengu had been on board. ]

Not that I'm doing this for reward. I just don't think anyone should have to live in squalor.

I wouldn't say no to some extra cash~

[There is the pop of opening the soda and dislodging the marble. Ethan takes a sip.]

Even if you were just doing it for clout, that's at least doing something. The Daitengu sure seemed fine throwing all the Kappa under the bus for whatever their own purpose was.

[he wrinkles his nose]

Gotta make up for the bosses' decisions.

They don't pay us enough to clean up their messes, that's for sure.

[ There's an edge of exasperation in his voice as he uncaps his own drink. Ethan had spelled out much of what he's been thinking. Yuri's not been impressed with the Daitengu playing dead and leaving the Alliance's most vulnerable members floundering.

It's not like he doesn't understand why the boss keeps secrets. He gets it, sometimes you're unable to reveal your plan even to your closet confidants, and he'd be a hypocrite to judge them for it. But he's yet to see what all of the deception achieved. ]

Whatever their grand plan was, the results haven't been inspiring. The Enma didn't show, and the Kappa are still out of work.

[Ethan talked a lot but there was some part of him that knew how to talk carefully. He would say a lot of things and then carefully dance around the consequences. The biggest thing here was adjusting to a new set of consequences. So, there's a slight change in the way he holds his shoulders. Okay, someone who at least agrees with that much.]

Yeah. If you're just on your own, then you can do whatever stupid plan you want and if it doesn't work, that's on you. If you're in charge of people, though...

[he clicks his tongue derisively, glancing away,]

Lemme tell you, never have a good boss, it ruins every boss afterwards!

[He laughs but it's kind of hollow.]

If you can't take care of your charges, you shouldn't be calling yourself the boss.

[ Yuri also laughs, but his has got a bitter edge to it. ]

The Daitengu is an elected position. Perhaps those graffiti artists were onto something advocating a new body in the seat...

[ He says it jokingly, of course, he knows the very thought is treasonous and the last thing the Alliance needs is more instability, but after the Daitengu's stunt Yuri can't help a bit of shit talking. He's willing to say what Ethan's dancing around, because a leader who abandons their own tribe doesn't sit well with him. As the head of his gang, he's always looked after his own people. ]

[Ethan's laugh switches from the hollow, bitter kind to something a little more delighted. He was seen, after all. You didn't put up big sprays unless you wanted someone to see. The joy of it really changes his whole posture. He stops hunching over himself and his movements are more fluid.]

At least, yeah, put someone up there that we like! Like, hm, someone that's cute. Or someone just as weird. Might as well, after all, might as well.

[He won't admit anything but he'll drop the same line as that one piece.]

Maybe make it like a chore wheel. We spin it around and that person's Daitengu for the week.

[ Seeing the way Ethan lights, Yuri's mouth curls into a small smile. He thinks the kid must have found the graffiti art entertaining, not suspecting anything for now. It's the sort of bold mischief that he himself finds amusing. Ethan's not the only one frustrated by the lack of action on the Daitengu's part. ]

Maybe some friendly competition is just what we need to encourage them to get serious about the job.

[ After all, it's not hard to be a better boss than one that's playing dead all month. He chuckles at the thought of a chore wheel. Utterly chaotic, but isn't that what the last month has felt like? ]

What would you do as Daitengu for the week?

Yeah, huh. I figure at least Shuten and Tamamo their leaders fought their way up it the top but maybe the Daitengu needs a good shove from underneath.

[... he doesn't want to be the one to do it, of course. That was the big problem of it all, wasn't it? So many of them down at the bottom not really ready to grab the power at the top. Had to channel all that frustration somehow. He takes a swig of his ramune.]

I wouldn't play dead, that's for sure! [he rocks back onto his tail before bouncing forward]

If it was a totally peaceful week... maybe organize a food festival? Get people to bring out all the weird and expensive delicacy kinda stuff!

[he grin even though, well, the odds of it being a totally peaceful week were pretty low]
