OOC Context: Yuri is coordinating relief efforts for the displaced Kappa and mods have approved temp housing for them in a warehouse provided by the Alliance. He'll need help from Lost Souls to get supplies there! Sutoku members will receive a message from him. If your muse is not Sutoku but would like to pitch in, you can assume word got out through the grapevine.

Hi gang. Been a fun month, hasn't it? Especially for our Kappa friends.

On a serious note, the Kappa are in need of shelter. I spoke with the Alliance and they've agreed to convert an unused warehouse to housing space. I'm looking for help with set up and supplies, as well as with getting the word out.

Message me if you can lend a hand. Every bit helps.

[ If you express interest, Yuri will follow up with details and the address of the warehouse. He'll ask you to use discretion who you share the location with since he doesn't want to attract trouble for the Kappa.

When you reach the location, you'll find a warehouse with running electricity and racks that have been pushed to one side to make room. The warehouse has been sectioned off into a sleeping area, a common area, and a storage area that the Kappa have been filling with equipment they've managed to retrieve from underground. ]

[ Yuri will be seeking volunteers to serve food at the food lines the Alliance has negotiated for from local restaurants. We'll need drivers to help transport nonperishable donations to the warehouse. People to carry it all. Bookkeepers to track the numbers. Anyone willing to network with nearby businesses to procure supplies or temp jobs for the Kappa to get back on their feet. Idk... morale boosting activities? Maybe someone can hook up a karaoke machine. Feel free to bring your own ideas!

I. Wildcard.

[ The Kappa getting kicked out of their underground territory hits a little close to home for this sewer rat. Throughout the end of the month and into the next, Yuri can be found on the floor of the warehouse coordinating the Kappa's rehousing efforts. Whether that's helping you carry something in, answering questions, or lending you a hand, if you run into a problem, he'll make it vanish (or do his best to). ]

II. No rest for the wicked.

[ ...or so they say, but Yuri will come around to thank volunteers for their help and remind them to take breaks. He's even brought with him a cooler filled with refreshments that he sets down with a thud. ]

Take a rest and have something to drink. There's water, tea, and ...hm, not sure what those are.

[ It's those fizzy ramune drinks with the marbles in it. If the beverage can be bought from a vending machine, assume it's there. ]

III. Suggestions

[ After a particularly hectic morning, Yuri can be found going over the logistics in his head. He's been a leader to his people back home, but he knew the Abyss like the back of his hand. Jigokucho is its own beast. He combs a hand through his hair. ]

Is there anything I'm missing?

Emily will pretty much immediately come to offer aid to the Kappa, and though she hates her promotion she'll offer to use it to negotiate more with businesses to get more supplies on hand as well as funds if she can manage it, pointing out how much to their benefit it is to do charity work and the boost to reputations.

Beyond that, she'll do what she can get her hands on, like serving in the food lines, but she'll also want to look at anyone sick or with injuries from the...everything that just happened, since that's her area of expertise. In short, what free time she has, she'll spend it on this.

Ryouma has been trying to build relations with the local businesses since he got here, so he'll be using his recent promotion to capitalise on that as much as he can. He'll mostly be helping out with fundraising efforts because that's what he's good at and he wants the community to feel like pulling together to help the Kappa is also pouring money back out into the community beyond the Kappa too (so come and get your two for one deals and special limited-time promotions!!!).

Beyond the logistical business side of things, Ryouma will be helping out with moving supplies around. He doesn't mind a little manual labour and thanks to being a Rider-class Servant also has the benefit of being a really good driver!

If anyone has any money/business type dealings they can go to him reliably with anything and he'll help out!

I think you're doing well enough that I can't think of anything you missed off the top of my head. I did want to talk to you about something though, if you have any room for more...

[ he smiles because he knows exactly how that sounds. ryouma sympathises though; he's also a little out of his depth and in a very strange place, so he understands the feeling very well. ]

It ties into this though, so there's that.

Wei Wuxian's been trying to build decent relationships with the nearby businesses (he's probably done odd jobs for a few in the Sutoku neighbourhood rather than sticking to one steady job). He'll use that as an in for further networking and negotiations for supplies while he's recovering and can't do physical fetching and carrying as well.

Keeping track of that on paper is how he gets roped into the bookkeeping side of things! He is actually pretty good at that when there's a pressing reason to sit and concentrate on the numbers, though he's slightly alarmed by modern calculators.

Sure, I'm listening. We're talking room for more what...?

[ Oh boy, are there refugees he doesn't know about or something. All in all, Yuri's determined to make things work. Taking care of those in need is what he does, and it wouldn't be the first time he's had to make supplies stretch. ]

Yuri will appreciate Emily's help, especially with her going out of her comfort zone and using her promotion to fundraise. I'm sure we have kappa recovering from this...hellish month dare I say. We're lucky to have a medic with us!

Room for a little more on your plate, I mean.

[ not to worry, not a sudden influx of refugees or anything, at least! ]

This is a good thing you have going on here and you pulled it together quickly. I've had an idea kicking around but I couldn't figure out the last piece I needed until now. At the risk of sounding too ambitious, if we manage to get the right people involved we might be able to lay the groundwork for a long-term solution.

Nice! Ryouma's help will be welcome and Yuri would ask him if he'd be interested in taking lead on the fundraising efforts. Ryouma strikes him as organized and capable what with his quick action getting everyone together after the parade.

And we are certainly in need of good drivers. Yuri's riding skill is E rank with a growth penalty so even if he knew how to drive, I wouldn't trust him in a vehicle.

Wei Wuxian's help is appreciated! Yuri will nudge him away from all lifting and physical work while he's recovering. Please rest, my friend.

Modern calculators are wonderful and unsettling, Yuri agrees.

In spite of starting off his time in hell with his ‘indifference is my goal’ attitude Junpei is not actually capable of that and has sympathy for the kappa. He’ll show up and be best suited for work where he doesn’t have to socialize much, so carrying things most likely.

It probably doesn’t hurt Yuri is the organizer and he’s someone Junpei trusts.

Oh, I love ambitious.

[ Now there's an interesting idea. No reason not to consider it. Yuri's gotten enough help that the workload isn't overwhelming right now. Sutoku you are all champs. ]

With how things look underground, the Kappa could use a new base of operations. What are you thinking?

A fundraiser, first of all. More than we're doing right now, since ultimately as generous as the businesses have been it impacts them as well. So instead, we should encourage as many people to open their wallets as possible, especially the big fish!

[ when you're doing it for a good cause, you can totally be excited about getting people to throw their money at things? ]

One night only, a huge party in the Underground! Of course, there's the little problem of an ongoing war, but I'm confident if we play our cards right we can get the clans on board at least long enough to call a temporary truce. Then, we get the Kappa in there to help set things up but I don't want this to be something we do right under their noses without their input. They're living like this right now and had all their leaders killed, so they really don't have a lot going for them right now. They need to be involved in this because whatever we create, I want it to be in the hands of the Kappa in the end.

[ it's easy to want to launch into details but if he's allowed to be a little ambitious here, he'll share what his ultimate goals are. ]

If we can get the factions to come together for one night it means opening the door to the idea that the factions can work together long-term. If we can make this work once and everyone benefits, why can't we build something permanent together?

[ Oh, he loves a party, too. Yuri's mouth curves up in amusement. ]

An Underground occupied by all three Factions... you really are ambitious. I'm intrigued.

[ The territory reminds him of Abyss, and Yuri hates to relinquish it to the other Factions. Ryouma's idea has appeal. Who said there couldn't be both a gambling den and a brothel down there? ]

The last time we tried to throw a peaceful party, it ended in assassination. What do we need to do differently this time? More alcohol?

[ He's only half-joking. ]

As for fundraising, the more sources, the better. Though I've never known the rich to open their wallets without wanting something out of it.

Yuri will be glad to have Junpei's help! He'll find time to check in on him, and if things ever calm down a bit, his dinner invite is still on the table.

Well, something like that. The idea is for it to remain an Alliance-held territory but operate as a neutral zone.

[ he'll take being called ambitious even if he doesn't think of himself that way at all. that's how it looks to anyone that isn't in his head, knowing the weird way he thinks, so it's not unreasonable. ]

Money is the key. The Night Parade was a community occasion for everyone. This will be a lot more high-profile. First, if we control the area we control access. That's why I'm willing to settle for partitioning off a section of the place if they won't give on the whole Underground. [ since it's a big place and all. ] People have to pay to get in. The more expensive the ticket, the more you get out of the experience. I bet you'd see a lot of rich people paying out for exclusive benefits other people can't afford. That also adds a layer of security.

[ because if their real enemy finds the idea of faction unity distasteful, ryouma is well aware of the fact that he's painting a big target on this entire operation, so security is key. ]

I want the clans to see how much money they can make with this because profits speak in ways all of us standing around talking about peace never can. Once they know the potential we can set up a more permanent operation down there. Big companies work because they have a lot of different people investing their money together, so that's what we want the clans to do. If they have a real stake in what happens down there, they're less likely to want to go to war.

But he’ll accept, he likes spending time with Yuri.

Kimmuriel is not super good at the physical side of things so he will contribute mostly by helping with book-keeping and stock-counting and all that resource tracking busywork that needs doing. He has a Vested Interest in keeping the kappa at least somewhat loyal to the Alliance so it's not all done out of pure altruism but hey, he's willingly contributing.

If the Kappa need a little more fortification in their temporary home to feel safer, he will also suggest ways to basically boobytrap everything for security, as well.

[ As the man in charge of the operation it was normal for Yuri to be busy. Xingqiu won't approach him immediately, or actually, at all. Instead, he has a look around the place. Well, he knows about warehouses, his family deals with commerce so, of course, they have more than a few of these structures but not exactly like this. The building material is different, is that a cooling system? Fascinating. He can already see the division made for use in the space.

And now he is going to waltz himself right towards the sleeping area, and finding one of the cots he settles there. This was... well it would have to do for the Kappa. He doesn't move from there, as per usual it was time to read that is until the man he seeks to speak to approaches. He is polite enough to sit up. ]

Good morning. I hope you're not displeased, it just so happened you were quite busy previously and I didn't plan to disturb you. Although perhaps inadvertently I've managed to achieve just that. Anyway, I heard of your effort, you did make it known after all. So I suppose, I'm willing to provide some aid. Although I can't say I have much to offer.

Honestly, it looks like you have something going on here, are you delegating tasks?

[Ethan replied almost immediately after the call for help went out. He showed up to volunteering with a grin on his face, although there are moments when he's not talking to anyone that it starts to drift away from his expression.]

[He's not the most diligent worker but the time he takes away from the direct task is usually spent chattering away. There's something to be said for the social aspect of it all. The Kappa had been shoved around and for what? One bigwig to get another one's attention? Ethan has to keep reminding himself that there's things he can and can't do. If he wanted to help the Kappa, this was the way to do it. There were people here who got that. He tugs down his headphones when Yuri comes over with the drinks, the faint sound of rap music coming from them,]

Ah, break time? Don't gotta tell me twice!

[he peers over the options,]

... oh, this kinda thing... [he plucks the ramune bottle from the cooler, rocking it back and forth to see the liquid slosh.]

It's like a soda with a fancy bottle. There's like a marble or somethin'? Only had it once or twice.

Artemy will come to help the Kappa; he actually does have the muscle to be able to carry all the items that need to be moved. So, leave it to him! He's Kin-borne, steppe-tough.

As far as morale building goes, he'll attempt to trade with the Kappa. Not anything of great worth or gain; it's items that he has -- pieces of chalk, paperclips, etc. He offers them and gives a piece of himself with each item. Figuratively speaking, it's a custom back home to trade and offer what you "have" -- your strength, your compassion, your warmth. He'll give those to the Kappa that are trying to find their own; something to hold until they can give it back to him, to the Alliance.

He'll be willing to trade with other Sutoku, for they are his family and to give to them is to give to the whole.

Now that's a language everyone speaks. When Tamamo and Shuten have fought themselves into a stalemate and worn each other down, I think they'll begin to see the appeal. What would be even better is if they could reach the same conclusion themselves. Have you seeded the idea with anyone?

[ Convincing the clans will be an uphill battle that will take a miracle, but Yuri likes the idea. A classy Underground to bait the rich is the kind of scheme he can get in on. ]

The Underground's going to need a whole lot of fixing up or the wealthy will turn up their noses at it. The merchants won't want to move business somewhere risky. Seems it all comes down to securing the place first. Our Kappa friends can help, but they're not fighters. Are you going to sneak them down there?

Why a marble, of all strange things...

[ Feels like a hazard. Yuri shakes his head as he watches the marble roll around. Must be one of those modern day things he doesn't get, like the Kappa's insistence that the warehouse really needs Wi-Fi.

Anyway, he's grateful Ethan's here, and as Yuri sees it, the time he takes to chat is as valuable as the time spent working. It's the sort of normalcy they need right now. ]

Thanks for helping out. Feels like we've been hung out to dry this month. [ And the Kappa wrung twice over, especially. Just what was the Daitengu thinking? ] It's heartening to have everyone's support.

[ Bit by bit, the shelter is coming together. The Kappa themselves are a tech savvy bunch who have quickly hooked their devices into the warehouse's outlets to do who knows what sort of work. Yuri has just come out of a conversation with a pair of Kappa trying to procure internet connection, which apparently is up there with food and supplies in terms of importance. A concept he's still wrapping his head around when he spots Xingqiu with his book. ]

[ He might have taken it upon himself to organize the effort, but he's just another Lost Soul and not the boss of anyone here, so no need to be formal. ]
