This is a post to facilitate shenanigans regarding the Underground turf war! Feel free to park your toplevels below and tag around!

Summary of what’s going on:
The Underground is the network of subterranean utility / sewer tunnels under the city, previously held by the Kappa tribe. After the April 2022 Event, the Underground has been cleared out by the Department of the Enma and is now mostly unattended.

The Tamamo Clan and Shuten Clan have received orders from their leaders to take over the Underground. Unfortunately, there's two of them and only one Underground, so the two clans are fighting over it. (Tamamo Meeting Log) (Shuten Meeting Log)

The Sutoku Alliance is not willing to fight for the territory, but are intending to work out a deal with whoever wins the turf war to get the kappa back to work. The Department of the Enma is also more interested in investigating the Daitengu’s assassination than the turf war, but that means their Lost Souls can bring popcorn and watch the show. [ Fast. That was the first thing she thought she clocked that demon barreling down on her. This guy could move, and given his size, that also meant if he caught her in a wild swing, she'd be showing up at Emily's door with a lot more injuries. Somehow the idea of putting Emily through more trouble was a lot worse than actually getting hurt, herself, but...

Either way, with the flash of her eyes, she was moving, too. What did her Heavenly Eyes tell her? This guy... was pretty straight forward. He was going to lead with his right arm, wasn't he? Right...

Three steps. With three steps, she finally moved, shifting to the side to slice at at his incoming attack. ]

[Speed is the name of the game here. This oversized demon is trying to rush her down in hopes of getting a quick win. However, Dante forgets that he's a creature of habit. He always leads in with his right before suddenly switching towards his left. It's the only predictable thing about him since he's classically right-handed despite being fully ambidextrous. His brother, Vergil, is ironically the opposite.

If that's something that Musashi remembers from their first duel, then she already knows he's about to swing that massive black sword from the right. He manages to parry her incoming strike in the nick of time before attempting to get the jump on her again with another powerful frontal slash. Little fiery embers trail after every strike despite the Devil Sword still within its concealed state. While Dante may have gotten his DT back, it's obvious he's not at full strength yet. He's a little stronger than your average guy but not by much since Musashi is already giving him a hard time.]

Just fuck off and go home!

[He yells before attempting to stab the pink-haired swordswoman for a second time. But if she notices carefully, he purposely delayed his strike just enough to give her the chance to parry.]

[ It didn't escape her, particularly with her Heavenly Eyes shining through the dark, catching visions of his upcoming strikes, all of them following a similar pattern...

She wasn't completely surprised. Not everyone in Shuten was out for blood, they were just trying to pressure the Tamamo to get out. And she couldn't say she wasn't grateful either, still only fighting with one arm...

But she still needed to buy a little more time. She followed up her parry with a turn on heel, throwing his momentum forward and slicing upwards. If he moved the way she thought he would, he might just drop his weapon entirely...

... not that he looked like he strictly NEEDED a weapon. ]

[That mystical "eye" magic is a problem. A problem that Dante is quickly discovering once Musashi manages to anticipate his next move. He knows that Pinky here is a good swordsman. That much was apparent when they first met but the second he loses his grip of his sword, Dante changes tactics. He lets go of the Devil Sword after she slashes upward at him but instead of trying to dodge the strike, he bloody parries it in a flash of brilliant golden light with his massive forearms.]

Royal Guard!

[An explosive forcefield surrounds him momentarily most likely throwing his opponent off balance long enough for him to following it up with a punishing shoulder slam. He typically only saves this style for showing off but right now, he needs to get Musashi off him long enough for him to reclaim his sword. The faster he can get done with her, the better. It's pretty obvious that the Tamamo Clan has something up their sleeves.]

[ Oof.

She should have figured he had something like that up his sleeve. But her Eye wasn't perfect... it felt especially imperfect now, fighting with only one arm. More than that, she felt like she'd made her point... he wasn't going to be able to just brush past her, but hopefully it looked as if his might could prevail...

Which was why she stumbled, when getting back up. Her shoulder legitimately felt like hell, but she had to bear it for another moment longer. At least her wince wasn't an act. ]

Well... shoulda seen this coming, huh?

[ Heh. "Seen". Regardless, she prepares for her next move, a secret technique she valued above all others... ]

Run away!

[ She turned on heel and started hoofing it down the dark tunnel. Hopefully the big guy would give chase... ]

HUH?!

[Dante nearly does a doubletake once Musashi high-tails it out of there. He knows that the pesky woman can be a bit of a pain but he didn't expect her to flee. After all, they're almost evenly matched now that they both got some of their powers back. However, it seems that Musashi is taking the coward's way out of here. That sucks since Dante was almost looking forward to a proper fight.]

Get back over here, pinky! I got your number!

[He chases after her on foot at first before eventually catching some air to glide. While he's almost certain that the Tamamo folks have a metaphorical ace up their sleeves, Dante is confident than he can handle it.]

[ Wait, "pinky"? Was that...

Well she didn't have a lot of time to consider it as she beat her path down the tunnels, taking seemingly random turns. ]

I think the only thing you've got is "jack" and "squat", buddy!

[If the "pinky" comment wasn't a dead give away, then maybe all the fussing and cussing that comes later is. Dante really hates this mess. He rather be at the bar chopping it up with a few friends rather than participating in this poor reenactment of the Warriors right now. He doesn't give a damn about the Underground or about Toraguma's hairbrained scheme to set up shop here, but he doesn't have a choice in the matter. None of them do.]

Bullshit! [The demon nearly roars as it turns the next corner looking positively livid at this sudden bit of cardio.] Don't you start acting all high and mighty with me!

[This is borderline comical since here is this 8ft tall monster yelling at Musashi like an angry frat boy. Its grumpy tone really doesn't match its fearsome appearance. It's quite odd, honestly.]

Your arm is busted and you're probably hung the hell over right now. So just give up already!

Plenty of water and salty foods, remember!

[ Okay that was definitely Dante. She'd ask about that form he was in, but it really wasn't the time. Hell, she'd get her chance pretty soon if she played her cards right. Just one more turn... ][ ]

[Wait, huh? Dante almost flew into a wall when she said that. His little unhinged rant gave definitely gave him away. Oh well. It's not like Dante went out of his way to disguise his voice. Even when in devil form, he still sounds like himself.]

Lies! I tried that and I'm still shitfaced!

[But he thankfully doesn't have a headache thanks to the gallon of water he drunk. The sake they tried together kicked his miserable ass the second he mixed it with shochu. It was a stupid idea but a very tasty one.]

C'mon, pinky! I'm getting tired of chasin' you!

[The demon yells once he turns the next corner.]

Well that's good, at least!

[ Musashi suddenly turned about, sliding to a stop. She flashed a bright grin towards Dante at the other end of the turn, wild and barely containing her glee. ]

Because now the chase is over, and you're gonna have something new to complain about!

[ She slammed the pommel of her sword against a seal that was placed on the wall beside her, activating it. The kanji for "wall" grew, shining brightly, before Dante suddenly found himself being pushed off the foot path and towards the rushing water in the center. He had a split second to react, and Musashi kind of wondered if he'd be able to manage it, or wind up taking the plunge... ]
