HEY CREW. Sorry this took me a hot minute to get together, life has been a diggity drag.

Here's what we know:

* Majima and Azem went to the Kappa family offices and got a map of the sewers.

* Ethan gave them a tip about how the Kappa's path correlates above ground as well!

* From the mini-event description we know a little: "they’re building something down there."

* The mods approve us to find:

They will probably even catch a glimpse of... the machine.

Which without someone with extensive mechanical engineering experience, they'll genuinely have no idea what it is or what it does. What they can figure out is:

1) The machine is hooked up to the main waterworks, and seems to need a lot of water to function, whatever that function might be

2) It's location is pretty conspicuous, lining up with the location of the central stop on the parade route.

Our crew's skills:

* Majima - Moderately stealthy, has his catnip mouse that lets him walk silently
* Aerith - Sewer sneak extraordinaire
* Azem - Ninja stats
* Six - Assassin stats
* Emily - On distraction duty for escapes

General plan:

* Use the map and Ethan's tips to figure out where to station each person so they can signal to others to proceed.

* If you want to get caught you have the option of either escaping their capture with Emily's help, or actually getting caught and punished! If you want to get caught for real consequences, head over to the Substories page to let the mods know.

Format:

* I'm going to make a a couple of top levels for a full group thread. I'm going to suggest that we don't pay too much attention to tagging order so that it can flow freely. (I know I'm not moving too quickly atm and I'd hate to hold you guys up.)

* Group thread 1: The plan and heading out

* Group thread 2: The machine? (If we do anything to it, we should note it to the mods.)

* The reason I suggest that is you can then make your own top levels below it and break into pairs (or whatever) to tag with whoever meets your speed, so please don't feel like it's exclusionary. It's just to offer different options for engagement. Choose the one that works for you!

* Get with Emily (medicative) if you want a distraction/escape thread! She has a TL here!

* Definitely please try to do whatever you're feeling, I'm not here to constrain you. I really tried to think up a format that would be flexible to everyone.

[ Azem tries to watch his hands but finds herself distracted by the rest of his appearance. He reminds her of a partial transformation or a familiar. Part of her wants to ask, but another part of her feels that might be a little rude, especially with how this place has so many different and interesting people from all over. ]

A window sounds doable. [ She's not a large person so slipping in through a window should be easy.

To the rest, however, she hums thoughtfully. ] If we can do this without hurting anyone, that would be preferable. [ The less evidence they leave behind the better, right? ]

I'll follow your lead, however. Where would the map most likely be kept?

Upstairs. Probably pinned up on a board with their instructions.

[ Asking the average yakuza to manage a computer is no go, half of them barely finish middle school. Which is to their benefit, things will be around in paper form. ]

So if we can go straight t'an upstairs window, cuts our work in half.

[ He glances with a faint smile, ]

How's yer climbin'?

Easy enough to find then.

[ Considering she doesn't know the first thing about computers, it's probably a good thing things aren't digital.

She grins up at him. ]

Pretty damn good, if I do say myself. [ While she might not have a lot of practice climbing up the side of a building, it can be that different from climbing cliffs and trees. ]

All right... Now we just gotta scout out a point of entry without drawin' anybody's attention. Guys'll probably be comin' in an' out to smoke an' stretch their legs.

[ A social hub for the family members in-between tasks, but also home base when they come back with collections. Majima's idea of being incognito for the moment is the quietly swap his eyepatch for a pair of big sunglasses. It really doesn't work that well, he's still the same gaunt snake man with the ponytail, but it does remove the most obvious distinction from his face. ]

So somewhere on the side of the building if there's space? [ She's not entirely sure how many entries and exits the place might have.

Azem, on the other hand, affixes her black mask to her face and pulls up her hood. Once done, only the very lower part of her face is left visible. Not exactly incognito but it'd make her harder to recognize if she doesn't wear the mask and robes again. ]

Yeah, let's take a quick peak. If we can't see nothin' from th'street we can take a service ladder up one'a th'nearby buildings.

[ His cigarette droops from his lips and he puts his hands in his pockets, the loose confident posture of any other yakuza bro around town. He walks ahead at an unhurried gait. They're not here for anything special, just walking by. ]

[ Azem nods and lets Majima take the lead. She'll hang back so they don't appear to be together as they make their way past the building.

Sharp-eyed as she is, the mask and hood do limit her vision. Still, she does her best to scope out the building without making it look as if she's stopping to stare at it. ]

[ He moves around lazily, pausing across the street with his cigarette like he's just stopped there to smoke. If he stays too long they'll move him along, there's half a science to not drawing their eye. He doesn't see much of anything from the front, see he keeps ambling down the street at a lazy pace. There's a street vendor selling baseball caps, so he pauses there for a little while to pick one up. Pulls his hair into a little bun too as he puts it on. Just a little more obfuscation to his look and different than the last time he swung by.

He didn't see much from the front, so he points Azem down another alleyway, peering around for a service ladder to climb up. He finds one and starts up it so they can get a look from another angle. ]

[starshepard]

[ Azem finds herself tempted to go invisible as she scopes the place out, but she's not sure if she can, how long it'll last, and if she can do it more than once. It's better to save it, she reasons.

She continues to follow his lead. Though she takes a moment at the bottom of the service ladder to tie the length of her robes up into something resembling shorts before climbing after him. ]

[ He keeps just behind the stairwell's housing, leaning around to peak with his good eye. ]

Gonna be too much t'hope their roof door's unlocked but we could go try it.

[starshepard]

I might be able to help with that if it is. [ While picking locks isn't something she's ever had to do, after all, magic was used for pretty much everything back home, she could possibly brute force it.

Though it would be easier if the door was unlocked. ]

[ He gazes around, first to the other surrounding rooftops for anyone up there smoking or meeting a friend for lunch... Then his eyes scan for any open windows they might get to instead. ]

Might make too much noise if we bash it open, it'll echo down th'stairwell.

[ But he's going over there anyway because if they have to find a window, it will be able to climb down from there. ]

[starshepard]

No bashing necessary. I might be able to force the lock with a bit of magic. [ She flashes a little grin, though doesn't make a move for the door just yet. She'll wait for his opinion on the matter. If there's a window they can use instead, that'd probably be better. ]

[no_kyouken]

[ He inclines his head. Well, hey, he sure doesn't have any magic at his disposal. ]

Let's try it.

[ If it's quiet enough, they can fail gracefully and try something else. ]

[starshepard]

[ Azem nods and moves over to the door. She gives it a careful try just to make sure it's not unlocked before leaning down to inspect the lock. She can't tell much about it so she shrugs before pressing the palm of her hand against it. She has no idea what the inside looks like but still, she makes an attempt at creating a magical key.

There's the soft creak of metal before being forced into a position it wasn't meant to go but it doesn't unlock. ]

Well... [ She draws back with a frown. ] I could try again...

Go ahead, I'll look around.

[ Take a glance on the other sides of the building for open windows and ways down. ]

[starshepard]

[ Azem bobs her head in a nod and gives it another go. While there is a discouraging creak from the metal, this time she manages to force it open. ]

Lock's probably broken but... [ She slowly opens the door, praying it doesn't make a lot of noise as she does so. ] We're in.
