1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party of sorts. The leaders of each faction each send a message to their new recruits, telling them to meet at their respective headquarters.

The Shuten Clan directs their new recruits to the Arena. There’s plenty of food and booze to go along with the exhibition matches from the toughest fighters they’ve got. Enjoy the view or get involved in an arena fight, if you’re feeling spicy. If bloodsport isn’t your cup of tea, there’s a number of gambling games to partake in, too – don’t worry, your money isn’t at stake here, unless you want it to be.

The Tamamo Clan recruits are sent to the brothel Mizukume. Hosts of all sorts are there to fill your every need. If you’re not one to be doted on, there’s also exotic dancers in every state of undress for you to look at. You may be tasked with being a host or a dancer yourself. If you’re not in the mood for that, there’s plenty of food from Tamamo-controlled restaurants to eat and seemingly endless drinks. The drinks may or may not have a little something extra in them, so check the labels carefully.

The Sutoku Alliance meets at the nightclub Konoha. It’s truly a celebration with an enormous amount of fast food from every joint in their district and an equal amount of cheap drinks. Sing your heart out with live band karaoke – don’t worry about them not knowing your song, they seem to have a depth of knowledge beyond this world. Once that settles down, there’s plenty of dancing to do or you can be a wallflower, whatever suits your mood.

The Department of the Enma meets at a meeting room on the top floor of Kaigo no Bou. The room is uncomfortably opulent and wouldn’t be out of place in a Heian imperial court. Fine silk tapestries cover the walls, richly lacquered wood is inlaid with gold, and it all feels like it was decorated by someone with more money than taste. There’s fine food and even finer drink available. Various multi-armed youkai play in a jazz band, playing their instruments in a much more complicated manner than strictly necessary. Stretch your legs and dance. Take a peek out the window for a bird’s eye view of the city. If the interior is too stuffy for you, escape to the roof for some fresh air – just be careful not to fall off.

2. PARTY TIME

After everyone’s had their fill of food, drink, and entertainment: the party isn’t over. They’re told to make their way to Konoha with the instruction to show their faction’s pride. That’s a careful way to tell them to raise hell. Upon arrival, all recruits are provided with an advance on their pay by The Enma. Food is provided by the Shuten Clan, a variety of all sorts of meaty foods. Drinks are provided by the Tamamo Clan, but be wary because some may have that special Tamamo kick to them (read: aphro). It’s technically a neutral meeting place, but there’s almost certain to be a fight sooner or later. Entertain yourself, meet the other factions, and raise some Hell.

Felix, I don't intend to just eat cheese. And I'm not going to cry over a stomach ache.

[ duh. not to worry. he also puts beef jerky in there. he then looks over at his cart - ]

What do you have?

Whatever.

[ ... ]

What I have is literal...

[ Felix begins to say 'none of your business' but stops even though he appears annoyed because Dimitri is actually looking, and there's no point in saying since Dimitri now knows. Anyway it's just a few things at the moment. Most of it is like just various meat or stuff with meat in it (including some jerky.) ]

I have enough, clearly, and that's what matters.

... I think your father will be upset at me if I didn't take care of you.

[ not to mention glenn, screeching in the darkness of his mind, but felix doesn't need to know that right now. all he needs to worry about is the fact that dimitri picks an entire bag of oranges and dumps it in his cart. ]

That's healthy, at the very least.

Excuse me?

[ ... ]

You're unbelievable! Going on about taking care of me and all that nonsense. Fine then, if you believe I can't take care of myself when you're the one who acts like such a thoughtless animal...

[ He angrily knocks an apple or two into Dimitri's cart and looks at him with an expression that reads "Just try and stop me". ]

I mean -

[ oh. okay? now he has several apples. dimitri just stares at his cart and at felix's defiant face, not sure what to make of this gesture. he's taking care of him? he's taking care of him angrily. that's ... on par with felix, he supposes.

so all he says is, ]

- thank you. Um, that will go well with all of my cheese.

[ and his one packet of beef jerky, which, you know, is necessary. ]

[ Your welcome for any more extra apples Felix has whacked into the cart, Dimitri. ]

Hmph. Your cheese and whatever other meat you're going to pick up, I imagine.

[ As far as he's concerned, he has done enough. But that is him judging the little piece of beef jerky. ]

...You would also do well to keep your mouth shut about 'taking care of me' and 'my old man' in the same damn sentence. It doesn't matter what he thinks anyway, considering our situation.

[ Felix doesn't think it matters what Rodrigue thinks at all, actually, but he also believes he doesn't need to spell that out. ]

[ dimitri frowns, and opts to ignore the comment on his food in favour of saying - ]

... I will take care of you.

[ because, you know, felix didn't say anything else and as prince, it is his prerogative to ignore the rest of what he said. ]

That's what you decide to focus on? You're unbelievable.

[ He will just turn away from the prince. If the blond can't see his face, he can't tell that it took him a bit off guard. The way he said it, so insistently...Dimitri is fortunate that is what he ends up focusing on mostly. It is because there is still a part of him that desires to cling to the prince, to hear such things despite the fact his pride is present, and yet he has a hard time acknowledging it. ]

I can take care of myself. Besides, you don't go around hearing me say that "I'll take care of you", do you?

You were never one for being so articulate where that is concerned; I've learned to accept that you have always been a man of your actions. Now and ... before.

[ he sighs as he turns away. it is very much like felix to do so. ]

Nevertheless, I intend to make good with it as a promise. For your father, for myself ... for you.

[ Felix doesn't exactly (he doesn't at all) object when Dimitri states that he is a man more well-suited to actions. ]

Stop bringing my old man into this—he's not even here, and here you are, acting like it is such a good thing to be in his good graces.

[ His fingers clench into fists, before deciding instead to place one on his hips, and another on his face. Despite what he has said, all he can do is focus on when Dimitri has said for you. He starts to think back to what the prince said when they first met up here, and he still can't turn around. Not yet. ]

Seriously, what's wrong with you? Saying stupid things like that.

Is it not? Rodrigue has always been good to me.

[ he had acted like a second father to himself, and he misses him entirely.

though felix is now looking at him in that rather pinched way he has reserved for himself, and dimitri thinks, ah, we're getting somewhere. necessary for his interaction with felix is a catalogue of his faces. ]

It's not really that foolish ... I thought I made my intentions clear before.

Anyway, as we are both new here, come and visit me at my place. We can have dinner together. [ like always, but with the entirety of the lions, and with felix hating every second of it but not really. ]

[ Felix would absolutely say he does not have a face for Dimitri if someone brought it up, but that would be a lie. ]

You're so full of yourself. That old man wouldn't know how to be anything but good to you, so I'd hardly consider it anything noteworthy.

...Hmph, I also suppose you did make your intentions clear, as annoying as they were.

[ He'll take down the hand away from his face, which he had been using to try to obscure his own expression. Dinner with the boar prince, hm? It would bring a feeling of nostalgia before things went to hell (literally now), and he has...missed it. ]

What, are you saying for us to have dinner as soon as we're done shopping here, then?

[ He asks in such an unpleasant tone that he can have plausible deniability that he is actually amenable to the idea. ]

Well, why not? It's not like we have any work to be concerned with right now.

[ he has missed it, too. ]

I'll invite Yuri as well, and the three of us can have fun together.

[ you know, that thing that felix says to everyone he doesn't have? anyway, dimitri hopes rodrigue is proud of him. ]

You're ridiculous. This isn't some kind of little party.

[ Felix doesn't sound nearly angry enough as he is trying to, so it really is evidently just hot air. ]

But it's not like I can stop you. Just don't get any ideas about having anyone else come on by last minute or else I'm not coming. Or if I do come, I'll leave. Immediately. Got it?

[ There. Now they can start to finish up here, and he'll leave nabbing Yuri up to Dimitri since he said he's going to invite him or whatever. ]

I mean, I do want it to be! There's no reason why we can't enjoy each other's company.

[ folds his arms disapprovingly over his chest. ]

I don't intend to invite anyone else, just you two.

[ He allows a little huff to escape him at that. ]

Of course you would say something like that. So, what, you're going to suggest we do something like play party games or some nonsense?

[ ... ]

But, glad to hear that you won't make this anymore annoying than it'll already be. The last thing I need is to be crowded in some room with a bunch of fools that I've never met.

[ dimitri frowns. ]

I mean, if you want to? I'm not very good with them, but I can pick up a few if needed.

[ by 'party games' dimitri assumes they are board games, completely forgetting video games are a thing. anyway ]

I don't have a lot of friends here yet. But rest assured, once I meet them, I will introduce them to you. [ that's a threat ]

[ Well, once the two of them learn video games are, in fact, a thing, there will be no such thing as peace.

Felix's focus has been on practical things and keeping his skills sharp even though they have just "arrived" not that long ago. ]

I never said that I wanted you to. But if you're going to go ahead and do it, I won't stop you. Just don't waste too much time.

[ One of these days Felix is going to stop being difficult. This day isn't one of them. ]

...I don't want to face a hoard of whoever decided to befriend a wild boar.

[ hmm. ]

If you're going to play with me, then I will put in extra effort to find something enjoyable.

[ yeah!!! yeah!!!!! playing with felix like felix understands what fun means -- ]

... I'm sure it'll be fine, Felix. It's just meeting people.

[ Felix let's out a small scoff, turning away. He's prepared to already beat Dimitri and Yuri in whatever game this will be because what are playing those things only for the sake of only ~fun~. ]

I've already met enough people.

[ He says, like it's one of the worst things since being sent to Hell. ]

Let's just get going already. Grab some more meat and I'll meet you at the front.
