1. WELCOMING COMMITTEE

The influx of Lost Souls means the factions need to have a little welcoming party of sorts. The leaders of each faction each send a message to their new recruits, telling them to meet at their respective headquarters.

The Shuten Clan directs their new recruits to the Arena. There’s plenty of food and booze to go along with the exhibition matches from the toughest fighters they’ve got. Enjoy the view or get involved in an arena fight, if you’re feeling spicy. If bloodsport isn’t your cup of tea, there’s a number of gambling games to partake in, too – don’t worry, your money isn’t at stake here, unless you want it to be.

The Tamamo Clan recruits are sent to the brothel Mizukume. Hosts of all sorts are there to fill your every need. If you’re not one to be doted on, there’s also exotic dancers in every state of undress for you to look at. You may be tasked with being a host or a dancer yourself. If you’re not in the mood for that, there’s plenty of food from Tamamo-controlled restaurants to eat and seemingly endless drinks. The drinks may or may not have a little something extra in them, so check the labels carefully.

The Sutoku Alliance meets at the nightclub Konoha. It’s truly a celebration with an enormous amount of fast food from every joint in their district and an equal amount of cheap drinks. Sing your heart out with live band karaoke – don’t worry about them not knowing your song, they seem to have a depth of knowledge beyond this world. Once that settles down, there’s plenty of dancing to do or you can be a wallflower, whatever suits your mood.

The Department of the Enma meets at a meeting room on the top floor of Kaigo no Bou. The room is uncomfortably opulent and wouldn’t be out of place in a Heian imperial court. Fine silk tapestries cover the walls, richly lacquered wood is inlaid with gold, and it all feels like it was decorated by someone with more money than taste. There’s fine food and even finer drink available. Various multi-armed youkai play in a jazz band, playing their instruments in a much more complicated manner than strictly necessary. Stretch your legs and dance. Take a peek out the window for a bird’s eye view of the city. If the interior is too stuffy for you, escape to the roof for some fresh air – just be careful not to fall off.

2. PARTY TIME

After everyone’s had their fill of food, drink, and entertainment: the party isn’t over. They’re told to make their way to Konoha with the instruction to show their faction’s pride. That’s a careful way to tell them to raise hell. Upon arrival, all recruits are provided with an advance on their pay by The Enma. Food is provided by the Shuten Clan, a variety of all sorts of meaty foods. Drinks are provided by the Tamamo Clan, but be wary because some may have that special Tamamo kick to them (read: aphro). It’s technically a neutral meeting place, but there’s almost certain to be a fight sooner or later. Entertain yourself, meet the other factions, and raise some Hell.

( she huffs, holding the clothes up to him, still. look... she knows that his taste is 'old man chic' but that's exactly why they need to switch it up?

wrinkling her nose, her gaze follows his to the suit — she then turns her head away from it with a pout, as if the suit had slighted her, somehow. )

Clearly, you can't be trusted with these kinds of decisions. That suit is boring! At least try the jacket, it'll go with your hair!! ( shoves it into his hands... shove... shove... slowly shoving him back into the dressing room... dw about it )

[ he's being shoved into the room against his will. it's funny because dimitri can crush a man's skull in his hands and yet here he is. he thinks that he perhaps has to accept the fact that he's being bullied. it's like fighting with annette if annette didn't care about the fact that he was a prince.

he wears the gold sequined jacket. he comes out with gold sequined jacket. ]

Nia. I look like the treasury. [ he's unhappy with it! ]

[nya]

( according to her, now shut up and put the jacket on!!

she's seen what he can do, when angered — it remains a constant in her mind, when interacting with him, and... at the same time, she has to wonder whether it was the same dimitri who's letting her push him around like it's something he can't stop. maybe it's him... maybe it's the mental illness... either way, the two just don't seem to quite match up.

she's only further convinced of this when he puts the jacket on and comes out, all sparkly and gold. gold is a good color. )

Uwah! So shiny! ( can you tell she's amazed? wide eyes and all. ) You're totally right... you look like a treasure! So cool! Oh, we can discard these... clearly, the jacket needs to be a centerpiece. Can't have anything flashy distracting from it.

( she throws the obnoxious clothes away and looks at him thoughtfully. )

Maybe... a white shirt and black pants to go with it? What do you think?

[stubboarn]

[ dimitri would agree to such boring colours, because they appeal to his stalwart nature. ]

Yes. I'm fine with that.

[ maybe it's the mental illness!!!!!! in any case dimitri does have to agree, unfortunately, that if the jacket was made to be the centrepiece then he doesn't look too bad at all, so he patiently just waits for nia to sort things out as he sits down in the waiting room. he is handsome with it. the gold brings out the blue of his eyes. but he also looks so strange to himself, having worn the dark blues and greys of fhirdiad all his short life. if he ever wondered what he'd look like in alliance colours, well. he need not look beyond this experience. ]

( she only suggests them because the jacket needs to pop out! but he seems agreeable, at least, and she storms out to find something that fits, leaving him to ponder life in the dressing room.

to be fair, she genuinely thinks it works on him. he's made to wear flashier clothes — nia supposes it might be the noble blood, but the way he carries himself doesn't always remind her of a noble, but rather a sullen animal... which isn't particularly flattering. is it a confidence issue? probably the mental illness again, if she had to guess — )

Here. ( she returns after a moment, with a plain white t-shirt and skinny black pants. ) And stop sulking! It'll look better that way.

[stubboarn]

[ the pants ... girl .... do you want the heft and girth of his lance showing? ]

I know you won't listen to me either way, but this is sort of embarrassing.

[ a deep sigh. well, maybe he can wear it to another one of those meet and greets they have which is a bit less formal? or when they set another party in one of tamamo's many clubs? he doesn't know how to make room for this in his wardrobe. the white shirt has a cute print on it. because dimitri is a sucker, he wears them for her and comes out looking more like his age. how unfortunate. ]

( yes that's the whole point

well, not really. she just can't get over the fact that he hides his body in clothes that don't really fit him. hug that frame a little and he's going to be the talk of the town? duh. )

Don't care! ( she announces, just in case he forgets, as he enters the stall and changes. what comes out is basically a totally different person? she gasps, as if surprised, covering her mouth with her hands.

... it's not that dramatic of a change, but good lord. )

I don't think I looked as bad as you were suggesting; please don't overexaggerate things.

[ he sighs as he looks at the mirror. his hair is rather ... well, commonplace and boring given the kind of hairstyles that people are sporting around here. but he likes it enough. he pushes his bangs to the side and they stubbornly fall in front of his face anyway.

there are uses for good appearances; nia has helped him. he sighs, and makes a decision. ]

I will buy this for you, and wear it occasionally. I suppose we can make a date out of it so it matters.

[ anyway he leaves her with that lovely thought as he goes back to the dressing room to change. ]

I'm not exaggerating!

( he wishes he didn't look as bad as she was suggesting. it doesn't matter now, though, she guesses, because he's being a good boy and listening to her — and though she has about as much knowledge about modern fashion as he does, at the very least she picks out something more form-fitting so he doesn't look like he's wearing an old potato sack.

at any rate, she has won, and is therefore a pleased cat. )

Heehee, that sounds fa — h... hey! A date?! ( startled by the suggestion, she watches him leave to change, a little stunned — since when did he learn how to tease people? insane.

huffing in embarrassment, she slips out of the dressing room and glances around for something that'd maybe fit her. hmm... something that'd be easy to move in freely... )

[ things are pretty quiet after that: he buys the items, they put it in a fancy bag for him. dimitri can't wear his old clothes seeing as nia wrecked them, so he does wear the ones that he'd bought for her. he supposes he blends well with the crowd. ]

Nia. Where are you staying? Did you find a place to live in?

[ out of curiousity, in case he needs to raid it or something. ]

[nya]

( and their journey continues. she's pleased with herself, considering he'd gave in and got the clothes, so she's in a pretty good mood as a result. )

Hmm? Oh... I did find my place, but I'm rarely there. ( she muses, arms crossed behind her head. ) I've been spending most of my time at other people's places, actually...

( invading them, in other words... )

Why? You need somewhere to crash?

No, I have my own. But it's a good idea to keep track of friends, don't you think?

[ it's nice that she's spending time with other people as well, he can totally imagine her doing that regularly, and it's ... kind of cute tbh ]

I am still learning how to cook well, but if you want, you may also come and visit me anytime you wish. I will do my best to cook something nice for you.
