Ancient Arts (OTA Tamamo)

[ The issue is that some would-be colleagues seem like they wouldn't even hurt a fly. Whether he's had the pleasure of meeting them before or not these are the ones he specifically goes about addressing during the drills. ]

You know I've been thinking?

[ A pause. A flimsy fold-able chair is brought over to be among company; he promptly settles on crossing his ankle over his knee upon it. It's posture that's too at ease for the topic being brought to the table. ]

...That you have the look of someone who might hesitate in hurting someone else! Did I guess right? Well it would be irresponsible to put these veeery dangerous weapons in the hands of someone like that. So? Let's start small.

[ Gogol offers a black hand-held box out. It's a taser. A very regular taser. Taser him! It absolutely has no batteries in it (unless..?). Either way he's not telling anyone if there is or isn't but he will act like it. ]

Can you stomach it?

[ That sickeningly easygoing demeanour remains intact throughout the day. Especially, it would seem, when a real threat to his well-being approaches in the shape of a certain red-headed someone. He waves Chuuya over with the taser visibly in hand. ]

Yoo-hoo! Isn't this the exact thing you were thinking about doing to me before, hm? Chuuuuya-kun? Now's your chance.

[ If the set up and all doesn't work then the fake over-familiarity should, he thinks. It's a theory worth testing since he hasn't figured Chuuya out yet. ]

[Oh, it works very well indeed. Sure, Chuuya's pretty sure he can't actually kill the guy without causing himself problems since tenkohime took the clown on as well, but he can at least take his pound of flesh.

Quite literally, if he has his way.

Chuuya had been fiddling with some throwing knives when Gogol showed up, which just means he gets to enjoy being Chuuya's target instead of the well mangled practice dummy. Gogol better look alive, there's something sharp being flung his way.]

How kind of you to offer. I might have to take you up on that.

["Letting" is the operative word of the day! Gogol is letting people try things out on him. At the end of the day there's a fine print, of course, and that is it's an eye for and eye deal for those who decide they want to go too far.]

What can I say? I can be accommodating when I feel like it. With you and me it really seems like we got off on the wrong foot. I was thinking you could—

[Gogol lifts an arm to put emphasis on his words. In the same moment he casually leans sideways without leaving the chair. Just in time, it seems, considering the blade that embeds itself all the way through to the back of the flimsy plastic. There's hardly a pause where he taps a staccato beat against the arm of the chair before continuing.]

—vent about your hurt feelings. Then maybe you won't miss!

[Is his immediate knee jerk reaction to being told he doesn't look like he'd hurt another. Thank you, he works very hard to look like "Just Some Guy" with variable results.

He actually does not know what a taser is, and it's the only reason he's hesitating.

How do you use this? If it was a gun, he'd have a good idea on how to use it.]

[ You know as the guy offering to get tased he's getting some sadistic enjoyment out of watching someone else struggle to figure out how to tase him. Gogol waits a solid 15 seconds in total silence before abruptly providing some cheerful "encouragement." ]

Well? Go on. Don't you know how to use it? It's so easy, I promise.

I've never seen one of these before.

[It doesn't feel or look like any kind of weapon he'd find back home.]

[ Gogol plucks the weapon back into his hands with a laugh. The compulsion to taser someone who doesn't know better is rising. ]

Ehhh? You don't know? Well! You see this part here?

[ He taps the pronged part at the front. Oh yes, it's one of the ones where you have to wilfully hold it against someone. ]

You hold that part up against someone else. That way it doesn't stun as much as it causes a lot of pain.

[Ah, okay.]

There have to be better weapons for this.

[This is not nearly enough range for him, and so he dismisses actually using it for any kind of combat. The further he is, the better he can work.

He takes it back and puts it against Gogol's arm.]

Of course there is⁠— eep!

[ As far as the taser goes: nothing happens yet. Still he shrieks and shrinks in on himself as if in abject fear... Even though the instruction to pull the trigger didn't have the chance to go out. ]

Just like that? Hey! Are you actually a lot more brutal than I first thought?

[He didn't pull the trigger did he? He's pretty sure he didn't.

He will pull it now, see if this guy will actually stop talking.]

[ There's one blissful second to consider the consequences of his choices because the batteries are in there. ]

[ An intense rip of electricity crackles for as long as Nero pulls that trigger for. Almost immediately it's followed up by screaming that sounds like genuine pain is involved. That or Gogol has heard other people scream that way enough to be able to convincingly replicate the way a voice will break halfway through a shock that strong.

It's a little column A and B. ]

Stop it! STO—P!

[Hm.

The yelling might be worse than the yapping away.

He lifts his finger off the trigger, and moves the taser away from this Gogol's skin.]

We're done here, ain't we?

[ Gogol stop making sound challenge: Impossible. But speaking of things that are irritating he grabs for the hand holding onto the taser to hold it hard enough so it 1. does not go anywhere 2. hurts a little. ]

Wrong! Believe it or not you actually failed the test.
You'd really stop immediately if someone begged you?

[It's really not the worst pain he's ever been in, so he just continues to look vaguely annoyed.]

I wouldn't use this in the first place. You have to be way close to the target to do anything.

[He's a distance fighter. The fact Gogol can just grab him is even more proof to him that being far away is better.]

Do you think I'll disagree? But it's a good point. My own preference is up to 30 meters after all.

[Gogol lets go to wiggle his fingers to demonstrate he's choosing to. Possible he could get tased again for it; something tells him he might not. But he's decided, just now, that if he does without giving the go ahead someone is going to get hurt.]

What do you do when someone does get this close, hn?

If you agree, then why are you makin' people use a taser for this stuff?

[There's a slight blue glow to the taser, as it floats back to the weapon box. Nero can only assume it came from there, and there it will return. If Gogol wants it back, he can get it himself.]

I'm so glad you asked! Since you did it so nicely I guess I can explain it.

[ --and get momentarily distracted by the way the taser floats away to be one with the weapon box. Gogol's head follows the movement for its entire duration. Then he throws himself right back into his spiel like that didn't just happen--although there's an entertained look on his face that wasn't there before. ]

I wanted to see how many of you would let guilt make you hesitate... But the taser part is just for fu~n!

[ Yeah Okay. Says the person who was down to taser Gogol as soon as it was possible. Enjoy this smug smile. ]

Are you saying that it didn't make your heart skip a beat?

[He tries so hard to be boring and fails at it so often.

Nero gives a little shrug of his shoulders and starts heading off.]

[ As soon as Nero turns his back Gogol drops his previous boisterousness to quietly watch the retreating figure leave. There are no additional attempts to heckle.
In a way, if he knew of that motivation, he'd sympathize even if he wouldn't relate. ]

[ No causing problems on purpose for this interaction. At least it's not in his intentions this time. In fact Gogol chooses a calm and deliberate approach with his palms shown as if to declare the unarmed status. Catching wind of both the regular and the particularly bizarre gear a certain Department has been trying to pawn off sounds more like a boon, if you ask him. ]

I can take that one off of your hands. [ A point. ] --with no questions asked! In exchange I'll help you figure the rest of them out.
