1. SUBSTORY - ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US (nerd mode)

[Hey...are you here checking out this internet cafe with all of its issues, too? Well, someone is already here, dark blue eye makeup and all, putting his hands on his hips as he continues on with some kind of argument with the owner.]

Look. All I want to do is like, put a virus on there. I'm no programmer, but it shouldn't be too hard. If those guys want to steal it, then they'll pay the price. ["I don't want anyone to put viruses on my computers!"] Look, don't you get it? They won't come back if they know that its not worth it, w-what- [And now the owner is just throwing their hands up and walking away.] Come back here! It's totally a good idea! Mathematically sound, in fact! Ugh!

[Don't mind him, he's just going to move to slump in a seat with his head in his hands going UGHHHHHHHHHH]

2. SUBSTORY - BOUNTY HUNTIN' (crime mode)

[Moriarty is playing nice. Of course, he'll be a diligent little worker for the Enma. Sometimes, one has to do exactly what they're told before they can get anywhere - he doesn't have a hold in this world like he did when he was alive, or in that dream of a Singularity, so play nice he must, for the information, at least.]

[Which is what he's doing now, scouring the streets for anyone suspicious, or interesting - even if he recognizes a face or two, that isn't stopping him from walking up, dark eyes narrowed as he says in his most authoritative voice.]

You, there. Tell me what you're doing in these parts.

[And if you're a fellow Enma, he'll simply sniff, unimpressed.]

3. GENERAL - COSMOPOLITAN CALLED THEY WANT THEIR ADVICE BACK (crime or nerd mode, you choose!)

[When he has downtime, a certain someone can be seen browsing through some magazines at a local stall in the Tamamo district - he's bored, obviously. There's a lot to keep his mind on, true, and he is meaning to find out more information, but he, out of curiosity, has picked up what is obviously a trashy romance magazine, complete with 100+ NEW SEX TIPS and IS YOUR BOYFRIEND CHEATING ON YOU? TAKE OUR QUIZ TO FIND OUT stickers emblazoned on the cover.]

[Curiosity killed the catboy, however, and he's making random disgruntled noises as he flips through it, finally stopping at a page - he squints down at it.]

"Cook dinner topless, put a little tomato sauce on your chest, and ask him to lick it off?" [He looks APPALLED.] What kind of nonsense advice is this? Who wrote this?

[And then another flip of the pages, another noise of disgust.]

"Use a ruler to gauge how much his di-" [A look of >:O] That's NOT how you use a ruler!

We are all about pleasure and indulgence. Now, those may sound rather scandalous, but one doesn't purely derive those two things from sex alone. You can indulge in plenty of other activities as well, and you won't have to measure anything if that makes you happy.

[ a pause. ]

[Pleasure and indulgence, huh. It sounds foreign. There's pleasure to be found in a good problem, or chasing down one's nemesis, but...its not something indulgent, is it?]

[ thankfully, hemlock is only a few blocks away. moriarty is free to take in the dimly-lit and luxurious interior as shylock takes his place behind the bar, as if he's always meant to be there. ]

[He frowns. This feels...off, somehow, Like being lured into the lion's den by the collar. But he can't help it - his curiosity is piqued (isn't it information to gain, in the end) and he moves forward (he's smart enough to get out of any circumstance, right? panic cut and all...)]

[The bright red lights of the inside blind him a little, and he twitches, glancing around - but its an interesting place, all the same. He wouldn't say it isn't. Moriarty approaches the bar, eying this new "bartender" with a raised eyebrow.]

As a matter of fact.

[ he beams, then does a small bow. ]

Shylock Bennett, lieutenant of the Tamamo clan, owner and proprietor of this establishment, and a wizard of the West. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, sir...?

[He thinks on that for a moment. A lieutenant, too...]

You can just call me Ruler.

[breweries]

Yes. There's plenty of us, in fact. I wonder if you can spot them all in each faction...

[ yes he's going to turn this into a game. ]

A Ruler who owns a ruler... How may I differentiate between the two? And who's to say that you aren't one of nobility from your homeland? A ruler with a ruler named Ruler.

[ and yes he's going to be annoying about this ]

What a lovely name. But it's rather odd to give your ruler a unique moniker before yourself, don't you think so?

I have a name! I just...it's, like, Servant rules not to just tell anyone we meet.

Come to think of it, I am well-acquainted with someone who calls himself Rider, only to introduce himself with his actual name. Is it the same with you?

[Rider...? He has met a couple of Servants already, but they have shared their True Name already, not their class. Which is the Rider...?]

He's a bit of a fool to do that...but yes. Yes, exactly.

[breweries]

I see. While I don't quite understand the purpose of hiding your real names behind these so-called classes, I shall bide my time until you're comfortable enough to share yours with me.

Till then, if you were given a chance to give yourself another name, what would it be?

[He puffs his cheeks, momentarily, at the idea that he could be comfortable enough to share his True Name (and ignoring all the times he just shared it with people here for one reason or another).]

Oh? Another name? [He has to think about that for a moment. James? No. Too on the nose. Something like a title. Something representative, but not overly revealing...] Butterfly, I guess.

[ he nods. ]

Please to make your proper acquaintance. Now, what drink will you be having?

[Tries to pretend he doesn't like the sound of that. It's so fancy.]

Mm. What do you recommend? I'm not the type to go to bars.

[ he wants to know his alcohol tolerance first. maybe a simple wine should be a good start... ]

[Firmly. He doesn't like the idea of losing control.]

Something mild to start. Besides...I want to be able to talk to you.

[ simply adorable. shylock places down a wineglass, and a bottle of moscato wine floats over from the wine cabinet behind him and tips its contents into said glass before shylock serves it right up. ]

There we go. This moscato wine contains notes of white peach, melon, and sweet apple -- see if you can detect them all. If not, that's all right too.

Now this, my good sir, is another form of harmless indulgence that one can only find in Tamamo territory. Well, I'd say "harmless" because I didn't add anything into your drink, but other bars have that propensity to do so if you're not careful.
