[Enty felt bad for the kid, she really did. Running your own business can’t be easy. Still this wasn’t exactly on the most up and up was it? Using older machines instead of anything more recent. Operating out of a garage. Not bothering to at least make the garage look decent and attractive. Then there was the problem with security.]
Keep in mind that this place is under the protection of the Sutoku Alliance.
[A bold statement to make as she kicks out a pair of would be thieves. The two look more worse for wear than Enty does.]
And don’t come back!
[A sigh before she looks over at the owner.]
This isn’t working, perhaps he needs to take inspiration from another business.
[Something to help him see just how one of these cafes are setup and ran.]
II – Substories – Drifter Grifter
Stop!
[She called out towards the man, her heels clacking on the pavement as she chased after him. Every trap he attempted to toss her way missing. Everything meant to block her off failing. Ever steps he stumbles over something, sometimes his own feet.
Luck did not seem to be on the man’s side as she was quickly gaining on him. Making the grifter curse. Enty doesn’t want to be too rough with him, but will if things escalate. Even now the grip on her bow tightens, but she doesn’t use it.
Not yet, there’s no need to. Instead she continues to follow him down the long streets, towards the docks where he was most likely looking for refuge.]
III – Plot-Relevant - Dogged the Bounty Hunters
Pardon me.
[She grasped the waist of the other person, pulling them out of the way of the oncoming blow before it landed. Using her large coat to help obscure her movements and temporarily blind the attacker. Skirting them back and away. Her grip strong and hard from years of working at sea and handling a bow. Among other things.
This whole situation is a shame, Enterprise thought to herself. To turn against one another for money alone. Well, she wasn’t here to lament. She was here to keep the number of people getting hurt to a bare minimum. Even if she was the one that had to play the part of the bruiser. Enty would rather things not get to that point. But acknowledge that it all too often does.
With that in mind, she lets go of the other person from her iron grasp. Focusing her grip instead on her bow. A large weapon that’s length stood well above her own head. The draw strength on it looked like it would be insane. Yet she still wields it with relative ease, pulling an arrow from her quiver and knocking it. Making ready to draw it should the other party not back away.
Perhaps, just perhaps, she could convince them to back away.]
IV – General – Drinking and Eating by the Water
I think I’ll try the Yebisu beer.
[Something to start herself off with as she sat at her table overlooking the waterfront down below. The city lights reflecting brightly off of the darkened waters of the river. Not the ocean, not even close to it. But the waterways still felt comforting as she ate out for dinner. A small way to relax before things truly kicked off.
There was another storm brewing. And things were likely to become ever more complicated than before she had arrived. They already are.
She was lost in her own thoughts right now as she looked out and down at the waters. What would it be like to take the plunge into them? Let its cold embrace envelop her as she sinks down to the murky bottom?]
V – General - Bathhouse
[This was something she had been tempted to try for a short while now. A local, open-air bathhouse. Normally she would have simply washed off at her own apartment, but there was something she found particularly attractive to the idea. Maybe it was the stories from some of the girls from back home. The ones about the Sakura Empire’s hotsprings and similar establishments. It made sense, given the local culture that things here would be more than similar.
Maybe its her being a bit touristy. But, really, can anyone blame her? Enty never really did get to explore the ports she visited all that often back home. Just enough to relax for a moment, be repaired, and then be placed back out at the front.
Back into the thick of things.
A groan escaped her lips as she dipped down into the warm waters. Her bath accessories closeby as she allowed the warm waters to work their magic on her tired, knotted muscles. Yes, this was the right choice indeed. She had been a little hesitant to strip down at first, naturally.
But, well, she guessed that she could get used to this every once and a while.]

drifter grifter
Following the trail eventually lead him to finding the man in question, but before he can even begin to approach he witnesses Enterprise initiate the chase instead. He could run after them and try to catch up, but that would be a little too much like compromising in his view. He's spent so long on this that he isn't going to share the drifter's capture with anyone, for better or worse.
So while the drifter's focus is entirely on the girl pursuing him and trying to evade her, he doesn't notice the presence of someone else, but she might. Throughout the chase, through the city, there's that sensation that something is definitely following them. Whatever it is it's keeping up, but it's clearly making every effort to avoid being seen...plus capitalizing on the fact she's got her attention focused on the guy she's chasing too.
Still, whether she notices or not along the way, she'll definitely notice once they reach the docks. A silhouette between two shipping containers watching as they pass, obscured by the shadows cast between them save for its eyes, two circular "irises" formed by red LEDs. If she tries to look again it's gone though. Maybe it wasn't there to begin with?
Maybe she should focus on her target instead.
Spooky.]
no subject
How that hole got there... well, it was just bad luck for him.
Now he was trapped, the river on one side, Enty behind him, and shipping containers surrounding all other avenues of escape.]
It's over...!
[She called out. Her heels clacking on the cement under her feet. Hands gripping her bow and an arrow. She doesn't want a fight but....]
For both of you!
no subject
[Their tag-along emerges from the shadows, revealing...!
A three foot tall robot hedgehog.
Okay, maybe not the most intimdating stalker that could have revealed itself. Regardless, Metal steps out into the open and approaches the drifter, all so he can grip his wrist and ensure no sudden attempts at getting away.]
You can leave this to me. I am with the department of the Enma.
no subject
...I'm afraid not.
[Far too many here want him to be "shaken down". While she doesn't doubt that this one isn't part of the Enma, she isn't about to leave the grifter with them. Not without first getting her own compensation and seeing him handed over.
Granted, handing him over to the Enma might be worse than a beating from the factions. But he would be caught anyway eventually. It would be better to see minimal damage done to him before she washes her hands of the whole affair.]
If you are then you won't object to me taking him in.
[It wasn't like he would be moving anywhere fast any time soon. She does take note of his current attempts to crawl away though.]
no subject
[Honestly, it isn't even about the compensation for him, it's just that he's spent so much time trying to find this guy he can't imagine wasting all that time for nothing.
...so he really should let her have this one.
But he won't.]
I will ensure your cooperation was noted.
[And being brand new he can't guarantee that'll mean anything on paper, but hey.]
no subject
[She takes a step back to stand next to the grifter. He was going nowhere, and Metal was being awfully insistent here. Setting her on edge all the more. She doesn't really feel any outright hostility from them. But they had been following the two of them for a good chunk of the chase.
Most likely they wanted the grifter and potential reward for themselves. Which should be expected.]
I would rather see to it myself.
[Part of her was working on a plan to how she can avoid needless conflict. There was most certainly going to be others coming after this guy.]
If you want to help me bring him though, I wouldn't say no.
no subject
[Despite the general stillness of his tone he says teamwork like it's a dirty word. He's got issues.
But he circles the grifter just a bit to try and keep himself between Enty and her target.]
It is in your best interest not to interfere. It is the duty of the Enma to uphold order in this place.
no subject
[She knocks an arrow, it's a subtle warning to keep his distance as he moves between her and her target. Said target was now sitting still and covering his head with his hands. More than likely rethinking his life choices by this point.]
The only one interfering here is you and others that wish him harm.
[Well, so does the Enma, she supposes. If anything, she's learned about them are true. Most of which more than likely are.]
If you want to uphold order, then the best decision would be to help me and work together. Rather than causing chaos.
no subject
[It might sound like a very machine-like answer, he's more human than he appears...which unfortunately means what he's really saying is "i dont care if he lives or dies"...personally, at least. He could be convinced ensuring his safety till they turn him in could be necessary though.]
no subject
[And if not the safety of the guy on the ground, then perhaps Metal might care for his own. Either way, it was clear the woman isn't backing down from this. If anything, she was doubling down.]
I doubt you've been permitted to dole out this man's punishment. Only to apprehend him. It wouldn't look good on you if something happened to him.
no subject
[Fuck. He kind of does really care about doing right by the Enma actually, if only because his contract is super important.
Metal falls quiet for once, not having an immediate comeback to shut her down as he has up until this point. His gaze falls onto the guy on the floor, then back to her.]
Should anything jeopardize his safety on return I am holding you responsible.
[Probably not, but he's annoyed he had to give in.]
no subject
We should get going then. No doubt he's already caught the attention of multiple others looking for him.
[And there was bound to be plenty at this point. Given just how prolific the guy's been.]
no subject
He's also quiet. It's one part he's just genuinely not much of a talker, one part he's still annoyed at her. Talk about a petulant A.I.]
no subject
She still keeps her bow in hand. There was going to be more challenges ahead now. Off in the distance she could barely make out the sound of yelling and questioning about "where he went". It wouldn't take much to know who they were talking about.]
We'll need to move fast.
no subject
[Because under normal circumstances, he'd carry him under one arm, her under the other and just fly over the city...fast.
Actually under normal circumstances he wouldn't bring her along, but details.
The point is as it stands, he's just strong enough to carry this guy, he doesn't have his jet and the odds are against them.]
We have to move smart.
[He makes a sudden turn rather than following the street they were going down. He expects her to follow.]
no subject
Not for them at least.
It might be for their newly gained pursuers.]
Right now, one of the smart things to do is keep a good pace and take the easiest path forward.
[She did have her own path picked out, something direct. But given that he, apparently, works for the Enma department, she does keep in step with Metal relatively easily. Or at least hopefully he knows a path of least resistance.]
no subject
As they near the end of the side path they took, he holds out an arm in front of her to block her from advancing forward. Just up ahead, some youkai can be overheard:
"When I get my hands on that guy, I'm gonna pound 'em into dust! Nobody tricks me and gets away with it."
"You say that every time you get scammed, man."
He watches them briefly before looking to her.]
Best to go around.
[Suggestions?]
no subject
To the left then fourth right....
[She thinks, going over the mental map inside her head and letting her feet immediately begin carrying her. They were still a good ways away from the Enma's headquarters. But Metal had taken them down a more discrete route.
With any luck it would help them avoid a majority of trouble.
It was a good thing luck is on their side.]
...Then we go straight ahead.
no subject
[And he follows too, without much of a fuss. Her knowledge is a resource he'll gladly take advantage of.]
How in-depth is your understanding of the city's layout?
no subject
[For the most part at least, really it was a matter of spending a few months wandering around the cityscape. There are still areas that she isn't aware of. But she was very much fine in navigating the more well-trodden paths.]
Have you not been here long?
LOCKED TO CROIX + DONNIE
Well, no matter. There was still the potential for this to be a big nothing.
But also, the potential for it to be something. And when there’s a suspected submersible of some sort involved, there’s usually a something there. It was that potential for something that led them to this point. Her pulling the strings the Daitengu had given her, Donnie and Croix working on the surveillance equipment. She’d made certain to keep as quiet as possible about this little project as well.
Contacting the two privately and organizing a meetup at Croix’s apartment. The setting is rather small, not exactly where you would want to work on the requested sort of equipment. But, well, there are worse and more strenuous settings to work in. Right now she was making room to place the pile of electronics and tools. It was a bit of a hassle to keep them separate from the computer parts left nearby.
Maybe she should also consider seeing if there were any components that Croix would like for her own, personal use?
Going off of memory for how they work, that should be about everything they would need. But that would also depend on what Croix drew up, and what Donnie would do with the blueprints.]
There, that should be everything. What do you two think?
no subject
It seems within my abilities. I just hope young Donatello is up to the task of interpreting my designs.
no subject
to be honest, he's raring to get started. twice he's already had to stop himself from tinkering with the equipment enterprise has been moving in. the most complicated work he's done since showing up here (and, truthfully, stuck much longer than he thought they would be) is simple mechanical repair. it's a bummer that he isn't working with his own designs, but maybe if he's economic about this he can take some parts home for his own use...] Inquiry: how do you feel about modifications?
no subject
[She very much believes the two are capable of it. More so if the Daitengu themselves felt they are. Creating a MAD and sonar equipment from scratch is still no easy task. She is, admittedly, a little worried that she might be asking a bit much. Particularly from Croix and her current state. But the duo looked and sounded like they were more than up for the task.
All she can do now is wait for the results, continue to call in requests for parts where needed, and hang out with them as they worked. They still had time on their side hopefully. Something told her the target was most likely in anchorage somewhere waiting for its next orders.
Orders which may not come for a good while.]
Modifications are fine with me. So long as the devices still function as they're meant and are small and compact enough, that they're able to discretely operate on a fishing vessel without notice.
no subject
[ Her tone and the way she smirked implied this was a joke. ]
Anyway, you promised food, Miss Enterprise. We have what we need, so I'm waiting for you to follow through on the other half of the bargain.
no subject
no subject
[Yes, she knew that he would be interested in the materials she managed to gather from the kappa. Military grade, expensive electronics. Things that would be more than difficult for the average person to get their hands on.
Now for Croix... she stands up and walks over to a large bag.]
You liked those Japanese cup noodles, right?
no subject
Yes, indeed. Do you have the goods?
[ As if she didn't have her own supply. But she'd happily take advantage of someone else's generosity to avoid cutting into her own stock. ]
no subject
whose ass does he have to kiss to get these hookups]
no subject
With Donnie now off in lala land she focuses most of her attention towards Croix.]
I do and was lucky.
[She brings over the bag for her to see... oodles and oodles of instant ramen. All sorts of flavors... all forms of varieties. Many limited and difficult to get. Some she may never have heard of.]
There was a sale going on at most of the stores I went to. Hopefully you like them.
no subject
Yes indeed, these will do nicely. [ She reaches in and selects one of the new types, before holding it out to Enterprise. ] The microwave is over there, by the way.
[ She says while indicating the kitchenette. Because it's not like she can get up right now. ]
no subject
[She goes ahead and snatches the chosen one before moving to prep it. Enty has never really had something like this specifically before. But it reminded her quite a bit of MRE's. Just add water and heat it up and it's ready to go.
She'll have to remember to grab some for herself on the way back home too.]
Oh, and feel free to take your time and plenty of breaks! Things shouldn't be urgent enough that it will have to be an all-nighter.
[She didn't think it would need to be at least. She still needed to procure herself a fishing boat as well.]
no subject
[ She looks back at her work, though remains cognizant of her guest. ]
So, tell me about yourself, Miss Enterprise. What is life like for you when you're not commissioning surveillance equipment and trying to get beautiful young witches to exercise?
no subject
Me?
[The question and interest is a little surprising. Just a little. She'd have thought Croix would be more interested in why the equipment was being commissioned.]
Usually... I try and enjoy the peaceful moments the city has to offer.
[When it's peaceful at least.]
Exploring the restaurants and stores, enjoying the festivities when there are any. And performing any jobs and requests made to me from the clan... nothing that would really excite a beautiful young witch. Unless she enjoys beer, barbecue and the local baths.
no subject
I see, I see. You're definitely more outgoing than me, then. The only luxuries I've enjoyed since coming here are Ursula's care-taking and visits to the ramen stands.
no subject
[She supposed that might be considered as outgoing. Sociable though? Hm... well, perhaps she has been much more sociable as of late.]
Honestly, I think it's more that I don't get to enjoy those things very often. And when I do enjoy what's offered here, it's usually by myself. Really, I'm just a little jealous, that you get to live, and spend time with, someone that you care deeply for. You and Miss Ursula are very lucky.
