March 2022 Mini Event

MAIN NAVIGATION
The Night Parade is fast-approaching and each faction will be busy with their own preparations.
1. SHUTEN CLAN
The Celestial Phoenix Casino, a fairly popular casino in the Shuten territory, is overdue on its protection money. This money is sorely needed for parade preparations. Unfortunately, the casino has decided it doesn't need to pay up because they've hired some new unaffiliated muscle. Neither the manager nor their new muscle are the type to listen to reason, so be prepared to exert some intimidation and force to convince these new bodyguards to take their business elsewhere.
The brute squad working for the Celestial Phoenix seems to be made up of several different youkai. Some of them are more human looking than others, but you'll notice no Oni. Even independent Oni wouldn't dare turn against the Shuten Clan. Even lacking in Oni, these thugs are armed to the teeth, swinging several deadly weapons and even a few firearms. This could get rough, so be prepared for the worst. Take the gangsters protecting the Celestial Phoenix out or convince them it’s not worth it.
Once inside, you'll discover that the owner, in a panic, has locked himself inside the casino's value with the protection money owed. This might take some doing to get open...
2. SUTOKU ALLIANCE
The Kappa want to be left alone and the Daitengu has asked Sutoku Alliance members to assure their wishes are respected. Members are tasked with convincing people to stay away from the Kappa's riverside facilities by whatever means necessary. Of course, you may want to take a look for yourself to see what they’re being so secretive about. That’s not recommended, if you don’t want to get into trouble.
It’s not just strangers who are nosy, though. Retinues from both the Shuten and Tamamo clans are making an appearance and asking why the inspections are taking so long. Why are the Kappa dragging their feet? The Alliance prefers to avoid direct violence, so it's up to you to talk to these clan captains in a way that convinces them to leave the Kappa alone.
If you're curious enough to dive deeper into the Kappa's business, however, even your Alliance membership isn't going to keep you safe. The Kappa themselves seem to disappear from sight the further into the sewers you go, as if invisible. Preventing yourself from being spotted by a security camera or a patrolling Kappa is almost impossible. Cover your faces, stick to the shadows, and you might just notice that... they’re building something down there.
Something for the Parade? Who knows? But it’s definitely not decorations or a float...
3. DEPARTMENT OF THE ENMA
The parade route for the Night Parade needs to be "cleaned up". The Department is tasked with getting the low level street gangs and squatters to clear out. The homeless population will resist and may not be so easily persuaded to give up their spots. Your best bet is to offer them food, booze, or shelter for the night. The street gangs will assuredly fight back. Use your strength or your wits to get the job done.
The gangs will not typically be that tough, most don’t want to step up to the Department's goon squad too heavily lest they wind up in a cell for the rest of their lives. Still, some might be hopped up on encouraging substances and try to escalate. Don’t worry, though. You have the authority of the Enma on your side! Don’t think they will get away with waving a weapon in your face.
The homeless, though, lack strength or weapons. They are more fueled by desperation to keep their spots. Winter hasn't been kind to them, after all, and they don’t have much respect for the Enma's authority. Their belligerent behavior is loud, and often violent despite their absence of means to properly defend themselves. At worst, they’ll probably try to use biological warfare. Don’t ask what's in those bottles...
4. TAMAMO CLAN
Parade costumes need to be designed, crafted, modeled, and then likely mended knowing the rough and tumble yokai. The textile shops and tailors of the area need Tamamo Clan members to help them out. Costumes vary from extremely ornate to extremely sexy. These costumes need to merge form and function, for the Tamamo clan parade marchers that means they need to be able to sell their specific wares while wearing them. (wink wonk)
None of the costumes are floor ready and the shop bosses urge you that these cannot be seen by the public until they are ready. This won’t stop some peeping toms and tammies from trying to scope out the goods. Most of the voyeurs are spying for perverted reasons, but some are from shops outside of Tamamo’s influence trying to copy the designs for themselves. Either way, Tamamo Clan members aren't expected to be just pretty faces. So rough’em up.
5. TASTE TEST (ALL FACTIONS)
For those less interested in their faction's work, the restaurants in the Tamamo territory also need help finalizing their menu offerings for the Night Parade. Taste testers and creative cooks wanted! These aren’t just any dishes though and may have some interesting effects. One may be so spicy that everything burns, your face turns red, and you need to cool yourself off. Or maybe your dish is so good that you need to take a nap – it doesn't matter where you are, you'll just fall asleep right on the spot. Another possibility is a dish that gives you unstoppable energy – literally. It will make you want to get up and go and never stop moving. If you stop moving, it may cause a bigger problem.

Someone I've met here! His name was... ( .... she's been calling him tora-chan so much she kinda forgot... ) ... oh, right! Sukuna! That's what he said.
( now, moving onto the actual issue she'd approached him with: the hand. she glances at the cut, holding onto his palm gently, and runs a finger over it. )
... I can heal this. Just don't freak out, 'kay?
no subject
well, the sweet moment didn't last.
the name drop of the king of curses is enough to suck away what little joy he had in this miserable city, and itadori's expression flattens into a tired frown; lashes low. of course she met sukuna before him. he gets the nickname, so that means— they are already somewhat close with each other. this cute girl has sukuna's scent all over her. the innocent beauty tainted under his nasty claws. on a positive note: she still wants to help and heal him? ]
It's very difficult to freak me out.
[ with a sigh, he hunched forward, watching as her finger brushed over his skin. ]
Long story short, we share the same body. Even though I'm not responsible for his actions, I'll apologize to you in advance. He's a menace.
no subject
Oh yeah? ( she doesn't sound convinced; listens to his explanation, pausing for a second. same body... does that mean they are one, back where they came from? interesting. something to ask sukuna about, since she remembers him avoiding the subject before, probably to save face.
having to admit you're dependent on a teenager to live sure does sound uncool — )
Pffhaha, just a little! He's mostly harmless. Really into laying around. ( just... lounging like a lazy cat... sometimes all day...
anyway, The Menace aside, she brings a second hand to place over yuuji's, still holding it up. the severe limitations of her power are something she's almost used to, by now; she feels the flow of ether, feels the way magic curls at her fingertips, then — stops, not allowing any further cast. it's fine; it's not too deep of a cut, and he might feel a wave of soothing, cool energy coil around his hand — almost as if he'd just submerged it in water. when it's over, she pulls her hand up and peers over at his palm.
... it's still bloody, because this isn't Cleaning magic, but the cut is closed up, barely a scratch left on his skin. )
no subject
Are you friends with him or something?
[ if they were having this conversation back home, itadori would've handled it differently. he'd be more assertive, warn her not to approach that curse again and never look back. however, in a world where they're technically 'dead'— hell itself, did they have anything to fear here? is sukuna an actual hazard when his threats held no meaning? when killing someone had no intimidation behind it? perhaps in a fucked-up manner they are keeping each other company, with no animosity or poor intent, and sukuna might have no interest in abusing her. it still didn't feel right— especially when this girl is so, so kind.
as promised, itadori didn't flinch throughout the whole experience; putting his trust in the other. once freed, he flexed his fingers, using his other hand to wipe the blood off. ah, it's gone. fully healed. like nothing has happened.
he looks up to her again, lips curling into a small smile. ]
... Thank you. I owe you one.
no subject
( it's a little hard to describe it, but she wouldn't classify their relationship as anything particularly close. to begin with, even though he reminds her of a companion from back home, she knows full-well he's not a good person. that, in itself, is a pretty big setback. the nickname might seem personal, but it's more of a habit than anything else — a way to find her footing with other creatures; a point of familiarity, perhaps, as someone who's more versed with dealing with animals than human beings.
or so she thinks, at least.
touching this boy's hand felt a bit like outstretching her hand towards the sun. his aura, the way he carries himself, the undeniable scent of a human being — it's so different from sukuna's, she can't quite get over the whiplash. there's a familiar warmth to him, and she nods when he thanks her, peering over at his face.
before she can stop herself, or even as much as consider she's invading his personal space, she reaches out and brushes her thumb over his cheek, a small claw resting curiously at the mark beneath his eye. the four eyes she's seen on sukuna... it figures he doesn't have the additional pair — he's human — but still, it looks like a spot made just for that. )
Are you hurt anywhere else?
no subject
No. We're not related. I was his vessel. Again, long story ...
[ oh no, she's too close all of a sudden. the touch of her fingers is ridiculously soft against the callous texture of the scars under each eye, and he couldn't help but stare. yeah, he'll call it a scar— sukuna is roaming free out there, and what is left is just a souvenir of sharing his body with the unwanted prisoner. the question unfreezes him and itadori finally breathes; his lids dropped low over his eyes, resisting the urge to lean into her hand. instead, he slowly shakes his head to reassure her that he's fine.
this shared moment between them is oddly sedating. so soothing— he almost forgot their surroundings for a second. god, he's so pathetically touch-starved. before he catches himself slipping, or saying anything stupid, itadori clears his throat and sobers up.]
You really need to be careful when you're around him. He knows how to hurt people, and it doesn't necessarily mean physically.
no subject
despite everything, she did land herself in hell, after all. )
A vessel... ( like a body to either hold him prisoner or allow him to roam free. either way, she understands what this means — this boy and sukuna have been one, at some point. two souls in one body: a concept she's familiar with, actually.
now she's wondering if they could've switched as easily as mythra and pyra... ) Sorry. That must've sucked.
( her approach to his is oddly casual, but she means what she says. having someone so different from you share a space that should belong to you, exclusively — she's not sure if she'd be able to endure it. in the other hand, the thought of sukuna contained within a teenager does make her a little amused; for all his grand speeches, he's had a share of weaknesses, too. )
No need to worry about me — I can handle myself, y'know? Besides... shouldn't you worry about yourself? I dunno your relationship, but since you're not fond of him, I'm guessing he returns the sentiment.
no subject
[ and his response is just as casual, throwing in an easy smile too. he's not about to start a pity party, which is why he's subtly avoiding getting into it too deep; keeping the conversation shallow while giving her a fair warning of her new buddy. he hums for a bit, then shakes his head with a shrug. ]
Sukuna doesn't care about me. [ 'hate' requires effort; it begs someone to give a shit enough to be resentful of the other— sukuna just didn't care about anyone. he's that damn cocky. ] And I'll worry about you. Sorry. Nothing can change that.
[ he's not calling her weak, no. but, they are powerless. how can she defend herself when they're stripped of their abilities? they're all vulnerable, right? however, sukuna is still strong, even without his curse techniques as well— itadori would know. they share a body, after all. he then shoves a hand down his pocket, only to pull out his assigned smartphone, the one they've all been given upon arrival. he unlocks the screen before handing it over to the other girl. ]
I know the network is public, but I want to be able to reach you without screaming about it in front of people. [ mainly sukuna, ahem. ] So, type your number.
[ just like that. there is no attempt to be smooth or sneak his way into it; forward and simple. ]
Oh, I'm Itadori Yuuji by the way!
no subject
is that why he feels so warm, when she touches him? like a cat, she wants to curl up in the ray of his light. )
... stupid. ( is what comes out of her mouth, cheeks puffed up. ) Worrying about strangers is —
( dumb and pointless, she wants to say, but then he hands her his phone and she gets distracted. listen... these small technological devices are still so fascinating... her ears perk up, and she taps the screen with a claw. )
Ah... one moment. Normally, Tora-chan carries my things... ( but since sukuna isn't here to act as a mule, she has to reach into a thigh-high to retrieve the phone stashed there. don't ask, she's got nowhere else to put it. at the very least, she's now phone-smart enough to find her number and tap, tap, tap it into itadori's device, with a little bit of struggle.
the claws aren't that helpful when it comes to navigating touch screens...
once that's done, she hands him the phone. she saved herself as "nya 😽". )
I'm... Nia. ( ... said like nya... anyway, she takes this opportunity to turn away from him and place her hands on her hips, resolved. ) And since you're a fight-happy dummy, I guess I'll look over you, too! Be grateful!! ( did she get embarrassed and turn into a tsundere? no... maybe... yes. )
no subject
[ he blinks at her with a tilt of his head. he's unsure what triggered that reaction, whether she truly hates it or not. well, if she did, nia wouldn't entertain his request of exchanging numbers. before he could ask her, she dropped another bomb-
the infamous 'tora-chan' submitting and carrying a young girl's items? the image of sukuna being smitten by someone just enough to allow this ... is so amusing. itadori couldn't help but scoff, quick to slap a hand against his mouth to muffle a chuckle. oooooooh, he's going to get that curse the next time he sees him. fun fact: he'll probably carry nia's stuff if she asked to. he's a sucker like that.
he watched her pull out her phone from that interesting spot and for some reason, itadori felt like he should be looking away, give her some privacy, but whatever. it's hell. it's fine! upon getting his device back, itadori does his part by sending her a short text. a simple 'yo! it's itadori!' — just so she has his number too. All done. ]
Heh, your name matches you perfectly. Nya! [ tsundere or not, itadori had no shame with the following confession— ] I am grateful! Please do your best. I'll need it in this place.
[ she'd soon find him right in front of her, and that's when their height difference hits on another level. (173 vs 148 asdhsf;) ]
I better get back to work. Since you're not an Enma, you shouldn't be here. It's not safe. Do you want me to walk you home?
no subject
Right... nya! ( she nods, a little amused. well, it is a common part of her vocabulary, as he'll discover upon hanging out with her more, so — he's not wrong on that.
glancing up, when he suddenly sneaks to stand in front of her, she blinks and shakes her head, still a little flustered. )
No, no, it's fine! I can take care of myself, and all. ( she doesn't want to bother him more than necessary, though having an escort is always nice. ) I might not look it, but I'm actually a pretty capable fighter, y'know? It's just that my sword isn't here right now... !
no subject
[ those thugs always had some weird weapons within their possession, itadori is pretty sure he can confiscate a sword from one of them; find the best looking one out of a diverse selection. it might not be as 'advanced' as the one she had back home, but it's better than nothing.
okay, she said 'no'. this is a word that should be taken seriously, especially from a girl. (it's one of the few lessons he learned from kugisaki. bless her heart for smacking some class into him) but— is it really okay to let nia walk home alone, in this shady part of the city, and without any weapons to defend herself?
he's suddenly nervous, because — girls are somewhat complicated; one wrong word and he'll fuck it up. it felt like defusing a bomb. the reluctance is evident in his tone when he decided to ask one last time, just to reassure himself it was a firm 'nope!'. ]
Soooo ... are you sure you'll be alright?
