(That is the opposite of lucky. He'd rather drown alone than let multiple people see him in distress. He's full of pride and foolish.
Luckily, he does know how to swim and it's enough to keep him from completely succumbing to the water but he wasn't ready for the splash at all. He struggling to really get his bearings and regain his composure right now. It's hard to get something like that when you hit the water without warning. He's also holding onto his sword with one hand and it just makes trying to swim awkward. When he sees something floating towards him, he's quick to swing his arm over it, making sure his sword arm is the one that holds on.)
[Unfortunate for Hizen that he now has an audience! Fortunate for Enty in case something bad does happen. Which it apparently does when he swings his arm out at her. A few shouts can be heard and someone was rushing to grab a line for them.
She's quick to push herself a little bit aways. Enough to keep him from endangering her. Or tries, his hand hits something soft and round.
Ah-
Her mind's elsewhere, however. And her body leans itself back to take full advantage of her makeshift floatie.]
Please try to remain calm. Don't grab. Just relax your body.
[Not that her voice alone will do much beyond maybe help him realize that he was swinging at another person. She'll do her best to make use of the swinging arm to try and pull him tight against her body once more. His back to her front.
An effort to keep him from going under and continuing to panic as she relies on her makeshift pfd to save them.
(Look he's just trying to stay afloat okay. It's difficult for him to relax even when he's not drowning and he's struggling right now. He's trying but it's hard when he keeps losing his breath and going back under the water. It's hard when he can feel the water in his sheath, his sword under the water with him, and it's like drowning twice at the same time.
With something to support him though, it's easier to get himself together again and though he's still clearly flustered, he's at least able to stay above water long enough to cough up some of the river muck he's swallowed and catch his breath again. He doesn't even notice the crowd gathering around them.
At least, right now, he's not flailing. It should be easier to tow him back to shore.)
[Her grip on him remains iron clad as she holds him against her torso. Protective.
No one would drown today, she told herself as she kept him above the water and a chance to breath. While also allowing her own body heat to transfer to his. Helping to give Hizen that extra bit of warmth in the cold waters. Using that warmth and the soft form of her body to help him relax just a little more.
Her luck still remains strong as the nearby fishermen throw a line out to them. Right in reaching distance of one of her hands. Lovely.
But yeah, she grabs hold of it and holds it against their bodies. Allowing the crowd to pull them ashore.]
Almost back. You're fine.
[She breathed out. At least he's stopped flailing about now. For a moment the Kan sen was worried she might have to knock him out. These bridges must be a lot more dangerous than they first appear for him to fall through like that!]
(Once they're into the shallows, he can begin to help himself. Hhis feet touch ground and he can drag himself out of the water, splashing onto the shoreline and just
collapses into the banks on his hands and knees. There are people coming to check on him, piling jackets on top of him and asking if anyone has called for an ambulance or something.
[As she feels the muddy banks brush against her bare back and Hizen pulling himself to the safety of land, Enty relinquishes the rope. Undoes the makeshift floatie around her neck, the jeans now soaking wet, and sits herself down in the grass and mud, and rocks. Keeping her eyes on Hizen.
Then scoots her way over to him.
He was breathing, but with how he was choking up water there was always the case he might need to help filling his lungs and clearing them out.]
...No, you need to keep your body warm now.
[It was said firmly, in the form of an order. Like that of an officer. She could hear multiple people calling emergency services. Good. She was mentally kicking herself for not doing so beforehand.
She does move to help wrap him up in the offered jackets tight and snug. Someone was already bringing her own, dry clothes to her and offering her a jacket in turn.
Really, they were very lucky here. If there weren't others here, if he had been more panicked. Had the seas been more violent and cold and deep... She frowns as a flash of something passes through her again. Welling in her eyes.
No, no time for that. Her tone takes a softer turn.]
...Please. Just relax and sit with your body leaning forward.
[Hands on knees. Please, just keep talking and coughing.]
(And what's most important right now is his sword which hes' kept tight in his hand this entire time. He can feel the water in the scabbard and he hates it. Once he's regained himself, he starts to sit up and
draws his sword which makes the crowd back off. His blade in the grass, he starts to shake his scabbard dry, letting the water fall out.)
Tch.
(It's obvious he isn't going to do anything to hurt anyone but still... you don't just go drawing swords!!)
[She doesn't back away when he takes out his sword and dries off his waterlogged scabbard. When he doesn't do anything else the crowd would most likely calm down and stick around with a few dispersing.
She still frowns at him.]
That is not fine.
[That is one of the most horrific fates that can happen to a person.]
Drawing your sword around others who were helping is not fine. Coughing up water is not fine. Getting soaked is not fine. Freezing because you're soaked is not fine.
(When you aren't human... dying is agonizingly slow and painful. He wonders what would have happened if he'd been somewhere out at sea like other swords had been lost. Would his spirit drown without release until the water rusted at his blade?
... He doesn't want to think about it. It's sobering and he sits up, shrugging off his pile of jackets and looks down at his sword.)
No, you need to dry off first and warm yourself up. Then things will be better.
[Hizen can act as tough as he wants, the danger was still there. To freeze, be washed away and sink lower and lower as the water crushes in around you. Filling up your lungs. Where you can't breathe, only panic.
He's better and fine and on the safety of land. Enty knows that but...
She still has a reflection of worry in her eyes as she adjusts the jacket she was given and thank the person who brought her clothes to her. While others go and grab their own jackets once they were sure Hizen was fine.
Her hair was still dripping wet and smelled of the river. She doesn't even want to think about what it would take to get the smell out of her pants. Ugh, well that was still the last thing on her mind. She even goes ahead and reaches to push one of the jackets back onto him.
FROWNS.]
...But yes, you're alright now. How did you fall anyway?
