[ Her manicure prickles at Kate's shoulder playfully as she leads the way. In general, they're already in an area that caters to the fashions of the moment, now they just have to choose their style du jour. ]

[ She pushes open a door with her hip and holds it behind her for Kate, gazing around the shop with a curious eye. The things in here look small for Goromi, but she's got a small companion with her today. ]

( Yeah, anything in this place would probably barely cover Goromi's shoulders. The sale rack at the front is stuffed to the brim with summer styles that need to be cleared out to make way for the newer, more carefully stocked racks of upcoming autumn trends. )

( Kate's attention shifts to said sale rack as she asks the question, nose wrinkling at a lavender coloured crop top covered in an unreasonable amount of bows. It was almost cute. Almost. )

[ She answers cheerfully, picking at sparkly things and bows with her nails. ]

Me an' my bro got ours when we turned 18. I swore into a big family, had to get somethin' fittin', right?

( It catches her attention enough that Kate stops looking at another sale item — a pair of high waisted jeans — and back to Goromi. She's guessing that's meant in the clan faction, whatever the hell you want to call these things, way.

Still. She's been around Jigokucho long enough to notice that those kinds of things are taken as seriously as any other family bond. )

[ She says his name out loud with cheerful reflection, like it's a trinket she hasn't looked at in her jewelry box in a long time. She's playing with a pair of big laser cut earrings as she speaks; neon green lightning bolts. ]

Real mellow, nothin' phases him.

[ Unlike Majima: frenetic and earnest and desperate to prove. ]

An' there ain't nothin' more important t'him than family. He's th'best thing that ever happened to me.

[ Majima wants her to shut up. Goromi pushes away that emotion like pushing away a misbehaving dog. ]

( The fondness catches Kate and hooks her in. The warmth emanating from Goromi distracts Kate from her browsing and makes her watch the shifts in expression, brings up that same fond pang for a brother left behind.

Marc's safer at home, and he should be there, waiting until the day Kate fixes everything for them, but it doesn't mean she doesn't miss the jerk. She'd even kill to hear one of his scientific rambles right now. )

He sounds cool.

( Isn't that just such a lame response for the love that Goromi's shown here and now? )

[ She laughs pleasantly. She looks up to Taiga so much. Someone who simply chose to do everything in his power for family, the complete opposite of everything Majima had experienced up until their meeting. ]

He'll be down here eventually. S'where all th'yakuza go.

[ She's waiting for him. Taiga Saejima is a vital part of everything that Majima does. ]

( Well, if nothing else, maybe that means Majima will understand when Kate eventually betrays him and whoever else she needs to for her own family.

But that day still has some time before it comes. Time where the truce still holds firm and they can shop like this. Talk like this.

( Seriously, having met some of the people hell deems appropriate to bring down, Kate wonders if there's anyone upstairs. If heaven is real, then who has lived a clean enough life to go there?

But never mind that because she's seeing a very nice pair of black sweatpants. )
