grasshopper picnic hydrangea on the menu beauty and the beast Majima had a lot of people to coordinate, so the calendar invites were sent to phones a few weeks ago. The festival was a working event for him, not something he could really relax for. As a compromise to those who wanted to spend more time with him, he's arranged the picnic. No, he didn't make any of the food, don't be ridiculous. He paid a caterer. He and the birds did, however, find a few thrift stores to rummage up blankets, baskets, and pillows. The flowers arranged around the area are an array of different colored hydrangeas chosen by Emily from Aerith's shop. There is also a corgi puppy lying on a blanket and watching with curious, baleful eyes. He is a visitor from Izo's shelter. Taro needs help with his socialization, be gentle with him! 🧺🌺🐶 The three of them are there ahead of everyone, playing with the puppy and drinking tea and snacking on fruit. But they're waiting for you; the river glittering at a distance. The weather is good and the company is fine. Say hello to your illustrious hosts: 🐍🕊️🦅

[ It's been quite some time since Azem has attended a picnic. Back home they used to find a lovely location somewhere on their travels and make note of it just so they could take friends out there later to enjoy a good meal and company. This place doesn't afford such locals quite as often. So they're more than pleased to be attending. As usual, they stand out with their ridiculously colorfully patterned clothing.

Especially now that Hythlodaeus is here. Whom they bring along so they can properly introduce him to quite a few of their new friends.

They're happy to mingle. Munching on or sipping something as they chat with anyone. And they're absolutely delighted to play with the puppy if it so allows. They might even conjure up a treat or two to sneak to the pup. ]

[And it's been quite some time since Hythlodaeus has attended a picnic, as well. He's very pleased that Azem has invited him; it reminds him of old times. And, of course, he's always happy to meet new people, especially people that Azem likes.

He dresses up in his Tanabata outfit for fun, and to get used to wearing more than just his robes. It still feels a bit strange, but it's hard for him to complain when he looks this good. Wink wonk.

Don't mind him lounging decadently against some pillows with a little cup of sake in his hand.]

You truly have excellent taste in friends, dear Azem. And they have excellent taste in liquor.

[ Azem chuckles. They've been enjoying the sake as well. ]

Of course, I have excellent taste in friends, you're one of my friends after all.

On account of my extraordinary good luck, yes. [Hearts <3 Now, he's fairly certain that Azem mentioned that one (or more?) of the people here are their...partners; it doesn't bother him at all - they've always been open with each other about such things - but he does make sure to put his arm around their shoulders instead of somewhere lower. Just in case that would be slightly rude in the presence of said partners. He wants to be a gracious guest!]

The puppy is rather charming, too, hmm? [Watching it run around nearby.] I wonder if I have the room for one. Or perhaps a smaller creature?

And your sense of humor. [ Azem chuckles once more.

They've noticed how careful Hythlodaeus is being about his hand placement and it almost irks them. But they're not to the point of calling him on it, not yet. They do take the arm around their shoulder as an invitation to lean into him and rest their head on his shoulder. ]

It is, though I've been told most places don't approve of keeping animals. Which is a shame.

Hmm, I shall have to keep my wits sharp, then! [Look, Azem, he would be MORE than happy to make out with you in front of your paramours, if y'all are into that! He just doesn't know if y'all actually are into that. He shifts a little for them to be more comfortable, leaning back against them as well. Though he frowns slightly at the idea of a pet restriction for his apartment.]

Don't approve...! Well, perhaps they wouldn't have to know. [pause.] If it were a very small and easily concealable dog.

[writes "I will not get Hythlodaeus a purse dog" 20 times on the blackboard :( ]

[ As much as making out with anyone here, especially Hythlodaes, appeals to Azem it's probably not the place.

She snickers at his response. She knows well enough that little rules like that never stopped either of them. ] Perhaps. But they can be quite noisy how will you ever play that off?

[He taps his lips for a moment. One can practically see the ideas forming in his head.]

I shall play loud music at all hours. It will cover the sound of barking. [ c: ] Surely they have orchestrions or some such here, yes?

[And now one can practically see the little voice of reason in his head begging him not to say this next part...]

And if it is bad-tempered, then I can name it Hades.

Oh but then you'd get complaints about the music. I'm sure you've noticed by now how terribly thin the walls are. At least the dorms at Academia had thicker walls.

[ The only thing they had going for them in her opinion.

The last bit is met with laughter. ] Suitable, though Lahabrea would also be acceptable.

Yes, but at least they won't know about the dog. They'll be far too distracted. [He gives a dramatic flourish of his fingers.] Besides, my taste in music is impeccable! I daresay it will improve the entire building's spirits.

[He knows that's not true, of course, but he's having fun with this hidden-dog fantasy. (Also it would probably be funny to do for a couple days...)]

Ah, it will be more lovable if it's named Hades, won't it? Not that I mean the illustrious Speaker any offense, of course...

[Briefly he recalls being told that Lahabrea was also one of the Unsundered. He wonders how much that had changed the man. Well, something to worry about later, perhaps.]

I suppose that is true. [ They laugh, nodding.

It is a silly little fantasy and Azem is happy to play along. ]

You make a good point about it being more lovable when named Hades. Though there are these grumpy little dogs that very much remind me of the Speaker.

[ Azem is still unaware of all of that. ]

Hmm...the ones with the wrinkly faces? [I mean, Emet-Selch also has furrows on his face, but maybe Lahabrea has a few more...:X ]

Yes, those ones! Though they are certainly cuter than Lahabrea.

[ Azem probably wouldn't be saying any of this if he was actually around. For all that they tease others, they do legitimately fear and respect the Speaker. He might be the only person aside from their dear mentor. ]

Personally, I think I'd like a cat. [ An animal that certainly has Hades' temperament. ]
