[While this specific method of wish-making is unfamiliar to Lalli, he gets the general concept of it. Make a prayer to the gods- in this case ones named Orihime and Hikoboshi, apparently- and they might grant your prayers. But Lalli is hesitant to pray to a god besides the ones from his own pantheon, and he's staring down at the strip of paper in his hands with a frown.]
This won't offend my gods, will it?
[His gods aren't that mean, but he does feel like they would be annoyed with one of their own mages making prayers in another way. What to do, what to do...]
[Lalli had actually not gone to the Palace of Sai to spend money or live in luxury for the night. Even though he's frugal with his money and has a decent stash tucked away, he still wouldn't go spending it on booze or consorts. No, he had gone to the palace because it was shiny and new and Lalli is as curious as a cat. Everyone's talking the place up, so he might as well see what's up here.
But now he's hurrying down a corridor as fast as he can speedwalk, and a pretty consort is following after him and calling out to him.]
'Oh, not that way! Our room is over here~'
[How did Lalli make a consort thing he wanted a private room? Good question. Lalli himself looks like he would rather be anywhere but here and is actively searching for someone to help him escape the consort. Help him, he's bad at saying 'no' properly and he'll go broke within an hour at these drink prices.]
[Lalli doesn't get involved in the initial scuffle. In fact, he's far away from the action, watching it all from a perch near the back. But after Toraguma kills the assassin and the young woman gets kidnapped, Lalli finds himself scowling at the mess.]
This happens every time they try to have a party. They need to stop having parties.
[Lalli has seen a pattern and he is Tired of it. Who wants to complain with him?]
[Meanwhile, as Hu Tao was ready to tie her paper to a tree, she raised an eyebrow as she heard a familiar voice. Releasing the branch, she made her way toward him before tilting her head to the side.]
I don't think so. You're not in their world anymore so I don't think they would be mad.
[Although, that does make her question what his world was like. What kind of gods would be mad over something like this?]
[This is true, he's not in their world anymore. They haven't responded to his prayers, and though he can feel the faint tugs of his magic it isn't the same as it would be back home. This magic is coming from within, rather than from the gods.
Perhaps becoming possessed by a youkai has changed how his magic works entirely. Hmm. What a thought.]
...Kissa is Japanese. So she can write one.
[He is not letting his youkai take control of his body. He will just write a prayer for her instead.
[She asked before pondering to herself. She didn't know what he was talking about but that didn't stop her curiosity getting the better of her. Now that she got a look at said piece of paper?]
Whoever she is though, she sure seems rather...fishy.
[He pauses, listening to Kissa's chiding in his mind. Hu Tao might even notice how his gaze drifts slightly upward and to the right as he pauses there for a moment.]
[He squints when he hears that Nero is from Tamamo.]
But you don't look beautiful.
[What he means is that when he sees people from Tamamo they're usually dressed to the 9s and look amazing. Like their leader, they're always looking their best in public. And Nero is just a normal guy.
[You know when you get insulted but you're just not prepared to be insulted that there's just a weird awkward pause. What is he supposed to do with that? He has no idea.]
Thanks.
[That's... a response. Sure.]
You know somebody has to cook all the pretty food they're serving.
[He cooks with no magic because it's more fun that way. He's so funny, he could be doing so much cooking with magic, but no. For some reason he's a purist.]
The kitchen's got more than ten people in it, but it's an all hands on deck kinda day. [Though considering this kidnapping and stuff... maybe some of those hand should've been on the lookout.]
Sometimes, but only ever to me. She doesn't like coming out much. There's too many youkai stronger than her here and she doesn't like it.
[Kissa is already chiding Lalli for telling secrets like that, but it's not really secret-worthy to Lalli. They'll both get stronger over time, it's fine.]
