[OOC: This is just a catch all for any stuff I do with Cain in the month of august. So far there is one open prompt featuring a very friendly cat.]

~Nya~ Open/All

Cain was smart enough to know that his stealth cat shouldn't be the same as one he wandered out in public in. And he also knew that Captain Shiki had told him to be discreet-and he didn't want to disappoint her-but he really wanted to practice in the mean time, and what better way to do that then making friends with everyone?

So there was now a very large, very fluffy orange maine coone cat wandering around the streets on the local divisions, chasing down any diversion he saw and rubbing up against various yokai legs. It was much easier to find people in this state, with his sense of smell and willingness to be pet. He had a time limit to work on, so he couldn't do this all the time-plus it left him exhausted-but every other day or so he could stroll the markets.

Fellow Lost Souls were no different-as soon as he scented them, Cain was jumping down from his perch on a couple of boxes to come over and start rubbing up against the person's leg.

[ooc note: anyone who can sense magic or magic abilities will probably be able to tell the cat is magic or at least not a normal cat, but there's no real threat or sense of danger to him otherwise.]

Cain's sort of running on a wierd mix of instinct and observation, but this is probably the cat version of patting someone on the head. Maybe he should think more about how maybe this might be a magic creature too, but well, the other cat was being cute.

He'd let the white cat lick him, though it would be a large chance that he'd just get masses of fluffy fur rather than something else. Cain probably should change back soon seeing as how his time limit was stretching on, but that would probably scare his new friend away. Well, they can sit here for a few more minutes at least.

Yes, this is socialisation! They’re socialising! Except the socialisation might be a bit unequal, because one cat is both socialising and struggling with the other’s long fur. It’s messed up that his new friend’s greeting is so nice and comforting, very much like a headpat, that he feels almost like purring- but there is so much fur in his mouth, that his single lick does not find an end, and he has to shake his head to get it out.

Logically, Yizhi knows that there is an end to fur. This guy is lickable. But alas it must take a stronger cat than he, for when he studiously makes a second attempt he fucks up again, and has to sneeze.

He probably should be going too before his own timer runs out, but in the moment he’s too distracted to remember.

Cain is purring but-oh, looks like his new friend is having trouble. He's not entirely sure if it was intentional to be so fluffy but it was definitely causing issues now. And that was his timer running out so he should probably..just...

The other cat pulled away suddenly, and then in a poof of magic, the former maine coone was back to being a slightly rumpled wizard sitting on the floor. "Hey, buddy, you don't wanna choke on the fur. I'm not a real cat anyway."

Hopefully the cat didn't run away as he reached a hand out...

The white cat reacts to the sudden transformation like a cat to a cucumber, leaping backwards with a yowl. And funnily enough, there is a second poof of gold-lit magic and the yowl cuts off into distinctly human speech, as the cat lands on the ground in the form of a second rumpled guy.

“-aahhh!! Fuck! You’re a human too??”

Yizhi pauses, his eyes still wide as dinnerplates.

“Oh, this is really awkward, sir! Uuuhhhh-” He’s less concerned with being caught out than he is with being caught half-lying on the ground in the middle of a street. Yizhi looks in alarm at all the passerby- they don’t care too much, actually, but he does- and immediately shapeshifts back into the white cat. Meow Yizhi shakes off the residual gold light still brimming at his eyes and hightails it into the nearest alleyway.

Oh-that's....that's not what he expected. Cain was tired after losing the transformation and didn't have the energy to switch back. It didn't matter either way as the man looked at him, sputtered, then turned back into a cat and hightailed it out of there.

Was he embarrassed getting caught like this? Did Cain do something to offend him? Despite his fatigue, he's still scrambling up and after the cat/human.

"Wait, come back! It's okay, really! Are you okay??!" He's chasing after the feline the best he could.

Turning into the alleyway, one finds Yizhi back in human form, sighing heavily as he dusts himself off. He’d been more tired than he realised too. He looks up at the sound of Cain’s footsteps.

“Eh-” What do you say to a guy who was previously a cat when you were also a cat? His life experience did not give him the words for this. “Uh, hi… sorry about earlier?”

That doesn’t sound right. Yizhi lets out an awkward laugh and tries again. “What a weird way to meet, huh! You’re okay, right?”

Well, Cain didn't seem all too weirded out-just startled and worried about the way the man just took off. Thankfully his training was enough that he wasn't too winded at this sudden burst of activity.

"Yeah. You sure you are? I'm sorry if I startled you-I didn't know you were also a person? And didn't mostly I didn't want you to choke on my fur or anything." He's saying this like it is matter of fact (which to a wizard it is, because he's done this kind of shit with wests before), but the concern is genuine. And he's holding a hand out, glad he could still see someone even after he was no longer a cat.

“I- yeah. I thought you were a cat too.” This isn’t an everyday occurrence for him (yet), so Yizhi struggles a bit longer to hold up a ‘business as usual’ attitude. He pauses to take a deep breath, centering himself, then looks down with some relief at the outstretched hand- he’s glad he’s seen a handshake greeting before! He’s glad he knows this.

Yizhi takes Cain’s hand and shakes it. “Do you come here often? As a cat, I mean?”

Cain's having a far easier time composing, but he's used to stupid shit like this happening all the time. He's glad the man accepted the handshake! "A little, but it's been a relatively recent habit of mine. I'd have greeted you properly if I'd known!"
