[OOC: This is just a catch all for any stuff I do with Cain in the month of august. So far there is one open prompt featuring a very friendly cat.]



~Nya~ Open/All

Cain was smart enough to know that his stealth cat shouldn't be the same as one he wandered out in public in. And he also knew that Captain Shiki had told him to be discreet-and he didn't want to disappoint her-but he really wanted to practice in the mean time, and what better way to do that then making friends with everyone?

So there was now a very large, very fluffy orange maine coone cat wandering around the streets on the local divisions, chasing down any diversion he saw and rubbing up against various yokai legs. It was much easier to find people in this state, with his sense of smell and willingness to be pet. He had a time limit to work on, so he couldn't do this all the time-plus it left him exhausted-but every other day or so he could stroll the markets.

Fellow Lost Souls were no different-as soon as he scented them, Cain was jumping down from his perch on a couple of boxes to come over and start rubbing up against the person's leg.

[ooc note: anyone who can sense magic or magic abilities will probably be able to tell the cat is magic or at least not a normal cat, but there's no real threat or sense of danger to him otherwise.]

Thankfully not. Otherwise, things would get very dangerous.

...Felix is also not doing a very good job of being disinterested, yes. Maybe because it has also been quite a long time since he has interacted with an actual normal-seeming cat. The fact that this one hasn't tried anything funny and is just being cute only fuels his interest, which ensures that the cat (who is actually Cain) gets more gentle pets.

"Hmph, look at you," Felix says, voice sounding pitched towards annoyed, but not quite managing. "Demanding more attention despite what I said just a moment ago. You're fortunate that I don't just shoo you away."

Good thing no one he knows is seeing him like this. He wouldn't be able to live it down...

Well fortunately, Cain was a person and liked tsunderes! Which will never come back to haunt Felix, ever. But he was really cute as he told Cain off while gently petting him on the head. The wizard-turned cat just purred, continuing to rub his face against the hand.

He's going to sniff at the sword too, since that's also something he was really interested on it. Surely he won't care if Cain just puts a paw on it...

LMAO all good...he is, in fact, not wrong!!

It absolutely won't, no siree. Anyway, there is just a teensy hint of a smile as he hears the sound of a cat purring. He has missed some semblance of normalcy, truly...

And then the cat acts like a cat. As in, rather curious as a paw reaches out to the sheathed blade. Though even when he notices, he is jerking it away on instinct eyes wide for a moment, before huffing. He murmurs to the cat, "As expected, you're far too curious for your own good. But even though looks interesting, it's not for you. Got it?"

Maybe he should get it a cat toy. Even if it is just a stray...

Well it wasn't for him, but Cain wanted to see the sword! He was a knight and this guy looked like someone fun to spar with! But he was a cat right now, wasn't he? He debated turning back, but he had a feeling Felix would not appreciate that much and he'd be too tired anyway.

So he just meowed back indignantly. Is that now a giant maine coone jumping onto Felix's shoulder? Yes, yes it was.

Still a fun guy to spar with. Maybe he can see the sword later when they meet face to face for a match! Yes, he is worried about hurting the kitty with a blade. Maybe that makes him a bit of a softy but that is how he is.

A surprised noise escapes him when the large maine coone jumps onto his shoulders. "H-hey! Hmph, were you really that curious about it? Or did you just want some more pets."

Honestly, thinking about it, maybe he should get a cat. All this time and he hasn't gotten one. Though what would he name it?

Well now he'd just have to bother Felix in the cat way. Definitely needed to remember him for later so he can go bother him as normal wizard form....

Cain just swished his tail into Felix's face, balancing precariously on the man's shoulders. He does not seem worried about the prospect of falling, just now rubbing his face on Felix's head and sniffing in his ear.

Oh my god. Felix can't believe he's being attacked by a cat! Truly, this is the most dangerous enemy he has ever encountered face to face...

It doesn't help the cat is absolutely and completely adorable. "Ugh, you're so fortunate that you're a cat. Otherwise, I can assure you that you'd never get away with this."

He manages to finally get his food after the person in front of him moves, though he gets some looks because of the sight with the cat on his head, and sniffing at him. Fortunately, no one dares to make a comment. Maybe because he throws deadly glares at anyone who so happens to glance his way.

It is just a bag of spicy snacks, honestly. But he is going to save those for later, raising a hand to lightly pat at Cain-in-cat disguise despite the angle, and movement.

If people saw Felix being nice to a cute animal then how could he ever live it down? There goes his stone cold reputation. But the cat-Cain did not care about his reputation and just kept licking at Felix's ear.

He could see why the wests bothered people as cats-this was quite cute from a seemingly otherwise serious young man. He's also sniffing at the bag but turns away pretty quickly at the strong spicy smell. Right, cats could smell better than humans-and wizards.

He's going to have to turn back eventually, though...and Cain wanted to be friends with this guy and not scare the crap out of him like the other poor man he encountered. So he's just going to keep riding on Felix's shoulder until he hopefully settled down for a moment.

it's all good, felix is always good for teasing even if he'll be grumps >u<

Felix absolutely feels embarrassed from looking so silly right about now. Even if people are mostly now minding their own business... for their own sakes. But truly such an image will go down in history, never to be forgotten. He huffs, "Ridiculous cat."

He has suffered greatly through these difficult times.

Anyway, finding a place to seat himself isn't too hard. Benches are not exactly impossible to find, so once he does locate one, he settles down, and pats the empty spot behind him. "You should come here, otherwise you'll get another whiff of these snacks."

Because 'later' does not mean hours from now. It can absolutely mean ten minutes. Anyway, it isn't as if the cat can talk back, but he believes for certain they can understand speech. Mostly.

It would be great blackmail material for Cain, but he is not a person capable of that. Luckily Felix does sit down, and Cain leaps gratefully down on the spot. Now he doesn't have to smell the spicy thing and he can maybe turn back without accidentally crushing his friend or something?

But first, he's trying to warn Felix beforehand, by meowing and sitting up on his hind legs like a groundhog.

...Well then, that sure is a warning.

Felix doesn't end up dropping his bag of snacks, but it is entirely possible that it's a near thing. He does move a bit away, expression curious, but also cautious. "Hey, what's wrong?"

At least Cain has more than enough room to transform back without crushing happening...

That was the plan! And transform back he did, though he steadied himself on the bench with a hand so he didn't just fall off like an idiot. Hi, Felix.

"Ah, sorry. I can't really speak as a cat. Or I dunno how to. Was just trying to warn you since I scared someone else the other day."

...Okay. Of all the things? Felix can't say he was anticipating this. Nope.

Indeed, there is no 'scare' on his part due to the warning. But once the other male has transformed back into his usual appearance, the surprise still is clear.

There are the bakaneko, but this is a little different, to be honest. "...How did you do that? You're part cat?!"

Well, at least he didn't absolutely startle this guy. That was a plus. He was, however, understandably confused.

"Uh, no? I mean I'm a wizard so I'm not human, but this is a power we all have. We can turn into a bunch of different things." Please don't hate him.

Okay, now he does feel foolish, but different worlds and different abilities, so at the least he acknowledges that there is a possibility that mages from various worlds can shift into beings like that.

"Mages obviously don't work like that in my world," Felix says in that harsh tone of his, but he is in actuality quite amazed. The experience with demon cats take away too much of the novelty, though the idea an actual human can manage that? It's amazing.

...Wait, he just said he wasn't just human? He actually looks a little confused, though. "With the appearance you have now you could've fooled me that you weren't a human if it weren't for that magic. But, obviously you're not some demonic mage either. Unless, I'm wrong about that too."
