it's not something barton immediately, outwards reacts to, expression remaining inscrutable - of course not everyone's cut out for it, much less something they're willing to risk. but shin surely had come here for a reason, beyond just affirming that he doesn't like using a gun, right...? ]
Then don't carry a firearm - least, not a loaded one. Anytime you take a shot, yeah, you're risking that. [ he huffs a sigh, arms folding over his chest. ] But, gun or not, I still think you should have something on you to defend yourself.

he's not magical like most people he's met, can't even catch a bird in their hands like everyone else. he might have gotten his own powers, but even if they can be destructive, is that something he really wants? to give some emotional damage is not the same as incapacitating someone, drawing blood.
the thought never ran through his mind, it never really had to.
it's hesitantly that he approaches barton, unsure if he should, if he can. even while he was hugging the other, it was comical, less personal. it's different from how he's just trying to lean on the other, silently asking for strength.)

barton is - notoriously, predictably - not fantastic at this type of thing. but then, shin's not precisely asking for much. it is frustrating in a way he can't articulate, having encountered so many over the years that just can't bring themselves, either mentally or physically, to violence, even if only in self-defense. but that's the duty of people like him, isn't it? ]
[ he lets the kid rest against him for a moment, and he's quiet until he eventually puts a hand over his shoulder. ]
You already know what I told you. [ in guaranteeing whether he'd be able to arrive anywhere in time or not. barton resists another sigh. ] But, fine. You can always just give me a ring.

(he doesn't really know what to say. he's really tipping his hand here. it's not an act as he puts up to others in exchange for protection, it's actual vulnerability that leaks through the action.
he doesn't even remember that he has a power when he speaks, honesty rather than an attempt at flattery to bring barton's mood up.)
