No, I meant something like what my little sister had. She had this purse, dark teal that had a sparrow stitching on the corner. I meant something like that. Not too eyecatching, but not something that blends into the crowd.
[ A beat. ]
But what do I know? My only reference for your tastes up to the bag was that kimono you wore.

I see what you mean. It does sound like that would be kind of my style... [She taps her cheek, thinking.]
Outside of this kind of work, I like some bright colors, but my clothing style is fairly low-key. The only thing that makes me stand out in a crowd would be my eyes, I think.

I don't know if it's about not wanting to stand out since I like attention a normal amount. It might be more that I just naturally decide to fade into the scenery.
You see, I grew up with my grandparents. So even though I was definitely rebellious and misbehaved a lot, being around them made me calmer than not.

[Monts tries to make up for it by being very helpful around the household and taking care of matters that her grandparents can't necessarily take care of themselves due to cultural and language barriers.]
My grandpa looks tough, but he's a gentle old soul. I think he went through the most trouble trying to get through to me when I was younger.

So is you're grandpa the type to chase aways guys who try to court you? I bet he is, isn't he? Then grandma would have to come out and scold him, take him away even - maybe by force, right? I'm right.

[They're an odd pair really. Her grandfather had a solemn, but serene air to him while her grandmother had a fiery and stubborn temper that was channeled into housework and her part-time job. Both regarded their granddaughter with a unique kind of love that was shaped differently based on how inhuman she was.]
They know I can take care of myself and I prefer for them to not interfere with my affairs, whatever they may be. Lately, though, I've been helping them out since I was busy as a barista so there's not a lot to lecture me about aside from usual future discussions.

Yes, that one you're right about. Outside of them, I don't have anyone else I care about as much in my family.
[Again, she thinks about her father and brother and how little they want to do with her.]
The job I had at the time paid me decently, even for a barista. But to be fair, I was working for a witch so she needs to compensate me well for me to stick around. I guess I'd have to think about another long-term career if I want to take care of my grandparents until their time comes.

[She says that with some degree of fondness since it is kind of fun to dispel his assumptions about her life and the people she knows.]
It's a very normal cafe. Well, it can connect to other universes, but we prepare most of the items very normally.

That was one of the first things I thought about as my way out. But no easy escape for me since I'm still here with everyone.
[And linking the Grind to Jigokucho... Well, it's part of her contract for a reason, but she won't say anything about that.]

No. I think it's good that we're not trying to stick dangerous things inside each other, and have gone back to....trying to stick other things in one another.
[ She's free to interpret that however she wishes, but he knows a certain clan mate of his is happy over that. Not that he thinks the turf war would have stopped him he thinks. ]
I'm just the type to always expect the unexpected. Stay frosty at all times. [ Says the guy who literally an hour ago was hung over and wanted to murder his own subordinates. ] Really relaxing is just something I never learned to do. War would do that to a person, I suppose.

[Monts won't hit anyone for their bad jokes but she will smile in a very strained manner; it's still pretty and presentable, but yeah.]
Hm. Well, it does take some learning to switch from work mode to relaxation mode. Although maybe some people just don't do so well because that whole time you're trying to calm down, your brain is yelling at you to do more instead.
As for me, I rarely feel guilty about doing what I want!
