[ Yuri shoots Robin a mock-devious look. ]

Maybe I shouldn't push my luck. Who knows what else might fall from the sky.

[ But his expression soon softens, growing more genuine as it often does around Robin, and he laughs. ]

Have you made a wish, songbird?

[sweetsong]

[ hm, what else could rain down from above other than spooky cursed blood and/or maybe some kind of demon or... actual stars... or...

robin giggles. what an expression yuri's making! ]

I have. It's a silly wish, but I guess it couldn't hurt if I shared it with you.

[ but he does leans into yuri, bringing his hands up and cupping them around the other's ear, and whispers: ]

I wished for everyone else's wishes to come true.

[playfoul]

[ It's a lovely wish, and so very like Robin to ask nothing for himself. ]

How kind of you, songbird. Well, now I feel as though I have a shot.

[ It inspires him, even. He knows what he wants to wish for now. Reaching for a pen, Yuri begins to write. ]

How about this? I'll wish for the best dessert this realm has to offer. If it comes true, we'll split it between us. If the heavens decide to toss vegetables at me, I'll feed it to the moon rabbits.

[ How's that for a foolproof plan? ]

[sweetsong]

The best dessert...

[ well, that makes robin think pretty hard about what that could be? would it be a gigantic cake with the most decadent frosting and richest chocolate? would it be a ton of cupcakes of various flavors, from the cake to the decorations? or what if it happened to be some kind of frozen treat, like ice cream or shaved ice or something in between? ]

[ there's an unlimited amount of things that could be, and it's all something that makes robin already excited...! ]

... it better come true! [ he laughs, looking upwards toward the sky. ] You'll have to make sure the wish gets up there... the highest possible...

[ and away from the moon rabbits who would love nothing more than to take that wish away so they could enjoy some tasty veggies. ]

[playfoul]

[ Yuri doesn't expect anything to come out of it,
but seeing Robin so excited, he can't be half-hearted about it now, can he? Reaching his arms up, he ties his slip to one of the upper branches.

Then he clasps his hands together and closes his eyes to say a quick prayer. Dear goddess...or is it gods? Please grant him the best damn sweets on this side of hell, whatever that may be. If not for him, then for dear Robin, who deserves everything. Agreed?

Yuri might not be the most reverent in his prayers, but his belief in the higher powers is sincere. Opening his eyes, he turns his gaze upwards. ]

Not sure where that went, but it's out there. Looking at these stars, it doesn't feel like we're underground.

[sweetsong]

[ he watches yuri pray, and joins him. hands together in front of him, robin closes his eyes and whispers words just loud enough for yuri to hear. after all--- his prayers have always been spoken plainly in front of others. ]

God... you may not hear us from down here, but please love us all the same. Please take Yuri's wishes and make them come true. Whatever they are, whoever they're for. Please do it for me.

[ and he knows that his god owes him nothing. after all, robin chose to become a vampire. he chose to become what most religions would call a monster. but even still? robin prays.

as he opens his eyes and looks to the stars, he hums. ]

You're right. Lady Tenkohime is amazing, isn't she? What she can accomplish, by herself or with others... it's breathtaking.

[playfoul]

[ He can't help but overhear Robin's kind wish, but more than that, it's praying together that gives him a sense of comfort. Growing up, his mother always prayed, and Yuri would join her to wish for food on the table or warm clothes to tide over the winter.

He believes in himself and the things he can achieve on his own, of course, but he's flown so high and reached such heights only because the goddess has been the wind at his back. ]

It truly is breathtaking. I'd like to steal some of their knowledge and take it back to Abyss. We could use a sight like this below ground.

[ Imagine bringing the heavens to the dreary lives of those living in Abyss. It would do wonders for the spirits. Yuri's head turns as he searches the blinking constellations. ]

I was born under a particularly lucky star, you know.

[sweetsong]

[ they're beautiful. sparkles of light that flicker in and out, almost responding to when a pair of eyes catch them. they give him hope, despite the fact they're some kind of magical illusion, that perhaps the real ones watch over them too. ]

Then, do it! I'm sure if you wanted, you could probably trade something to get that knowledge! Perhaps I could talk to Lady Tenkohime, see if she'd be willing to share anyway, and...

[ yuri's words make him go quiet, out of curiosity. as he leans into yuri, shoulders touching shoulders, robin hums. ]

Which one? Is it here? There? .... anywhere?

[playfoul]

[ Yuri hums thoughtfully. ] I'll need more than knowledge. Tools, electricity, equipment... Perhaps I'll get them to amend my contract. [ He says with a chuckle, but later he'll think it through with the due consideration of someone brewing a plan. Even plain lights would be a good start. Maybe he'll get Constance, with her thunder magic, to work some miracles. ]

Let's see. It should be especially bright this time of year...

[ He was born this month, after all, in the fading summer of the Verdant Rain Moon. Yuri hugs Robin by the shoulder and turns them away from the two lovers to a different part of the sky. ]

Over there, see that cluster of stars? The one that looks like a hook, or a sickle.

[sweetsong]

[ whatever yuri wants to do, robin has no doubt that he can make it happen. it's not just blind confidence! he knows that yuri can find a way to get the stars from here and take them down to his abyss, wherever that is. those people that live there probably deserve it more than the ones here, tbh.

in a way, he's not surprised that he can see the bunch of sparkling and twinkling lights exactly where yuri points. it's not a constellation that's familiar to him--- he only knows what the big and little dipper look like--- but it does have a sort of shape to it. ]

I do... huh. It really does look like a hook, doesn't it...

[playfoul]

It's the brightest one there.

[ Well, if he's not mistaken. There are a dozen constellations that blot the underground sky, and he's just a boy from a dirt-poor town who doesn't know the first thing about the stars he's named after. ]

We call it Regulus, the white star the goddess herself made a disciple. Doesn't really suit me, does it?

[sweetsong]

... I think it does.

[ robin laughs, as he raises his hands up toward the stars. he makes two Ls with his index and thumbs, then puts them together into a rectangle. basically, a picture frame. and then when he frames the stars, he frames yuri's face. ]

I think I would follow the brightest one no matter what.

[playfoul]

[ Yuri peers back through the frame, his expression unreadable, but then his lips slowly curl into a smile. ]

I'm glad you think so.

[ Maybe someday, he'll lay the whole truth bare. For now, he's content to trust Robin with this much of himself. Yuri hooks their arms together, his grin turning playful. ]

That means you'll accompany me, won't you? I'm feeling like a bite to eat after that wish.

[sweetsong]

Of course! Wherever you wanna go, I'll be right behind you.

[ for food. for drink. for pleasure. into hell. they're already in hell but hey. ]

I don't think you'd lead me astray. Or am I trusting you too much, Yuri?~

[ he takes yuri's hand and gives it a squeeze. ]

[playfoul]

I won't let you come to harm. You have my word, and I don't give that to just anyone.

[ He replies, hand over heart, with a mock bow to go with it. As for leading him astray, well, he'll make no promises there.

Though Robin has grown capable of looking after himself, Yuri will still come to his aid in a heartbeat. That's how dear Robin has become to him. Of course, he doesn't intend to lead him anywhere dangerous if he can help it... just back to the festivities to enjoy the rest of the night's delights. ]

[sweetsong]

[ good. no need to go anywhere dangerous. it would be a shame if anything bad happened here, but robin almost expects it. what's good can easily turn into something awful. it wouldn't be that out of the norm, but...

well, with yuri? he doesn't feel so nervous about that. he was there for the first and second times. so. ]

And I, you! No one can stop me when it comes to keeping my loved ones safe.

[ Loved one, hm? Yuri's still not used to love being given so freely and openly. Ever since he left home, he's had to guard his heart. But with Robin? Those walls seem to fall away. ]

Thank you, songbird. I know I'm safe with you.

[ And that's no exaggeration. Robin is someone he can trust with a more genuine side of himself. ]
