[medicative]

[they're in the clinic, managing something as they always do - there's a look of concentration on Emily's face that means something's on her mind, before she finally speaks.]

Something's been bothering me, Aerith...and I wonder if you've felt the same.

[she sighs, finally looking at her.]

Have you noticed that...well. It seems among the Lost Souls, there are more than a rare few who happen to be quite young?

[everblooms]

[ There's a certain amount of work that must be complete daily. It could be simple; managing quality of medication they have is easy to do. Harder yet is keeping track of medical records of repeat patients, though most of the Lost Souls are capable of reminding them. Still, it's good to have notes for when someone else has to take over. ]

The kids?

[ Though Aerith is rather young herself, a fact that must be clearer to Emily when they lock eyes for a moment, she's still an adult who can't help but think of someone in their teens as a child. So yes, she calls them the kids, even if they're perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, and her. After a moment of careful consideration, she decides that disagreeing in the interest of trying to keep Emily from being worried is not necessary, and would be a simple lie. She agrees, making a noise of confirmation, as she tidies up a medicine cabinet. They've begun harvesting from the garden with a frugal mind, despite the fact Aerith can make what she requests. ]

I thought about keeping them busy with me, but, to tell the truth, they're still working pretty hard. [ It's not like her flower garden is performing poorly, and the mentions of making a real business out of it are still kicking around in her brain. ] But, you know, worrying still happens...

[medicative]

Yes. It's not so much that they've been brought here, but...this place isn't terribly peaceful. It's risky, each and every day and I just wish I could do something for them.

[she can't stop them being young. can't shield them from harm. what could really be done for their welfare?

noting down their stock of one medicine, she shakes her head.]

If they could at least be assured to run and protect themselves, I'd worry less. And I know I can't take care of everyone, but...even here...

[their younger volunteers. she doesn't want to smother, but she also wonders how they fare when they're not there.]

[everblooms]

[ Silence falls over Aerith as she considers Emily's words, listening intently. She looks over her, the worry lines in her face, the way she tells her concerns in little ways. Flickering gaze, pursed lips, tight breathing; it all paints an image of a woman who holds it together but still, but still, she worries. Aerith waits a moment longer, but she knows what the solution is, now. ]

Oh, yeah? [ A simple smile makes it's way across her lips finally, and she turns to Emily. ] In that case, what do you want to do about it?

[ She has an idea, but she's rarely been the one to posture them herself. Besides, Emily already knows, doesn't she? ]

[medicative]

I don't know. If I knew, I wouldn't be here talking about it, I'd be putting together a plan and asking for your assistance.

[but glancing the younger woman's way, her eyebrow lifts.]

Judging by the look on your face, you do?

[everblooms]

[ With a nod, Aerith continues eagerly. ]

What if we offered them some self-defense classes? I'm sure between us, we know a few fighters who would be willing to teach them a bit. Right, Emily?

[medicative]

Self-defense classes?

[from the look on her face, that never occurred to her. or at least, didn't seem possible.]

It's an idea...and if it was there, I could at least suggest it to our younger volunteers. But who could do such a thing? Most of the fighters I know are either terribly busy or terrible with youth.

[still, she's considering it.]

[everblooms]

[ With a twist of her lips, Aerith puckers in a thoughtful manner. She considers her connections, the people she's met... The top of her list would be Cloud, in truth; he has SOLDIER training, after all, so he has some experience from watching, maybe... (Her head aches in response to this though, though. Strange.) ]

Well... maybe. [ She twiddles her thumbs, then turns back to Emily. ]

I do know an older woman... I could ask her. Feels like she knows almost everyone in Tamamo at this point! But, she has these... muscles... what do you think?

[ She hums, softly. ] Or should we still to the Lost Souls?

[medicative]

Tell me about the woman you know. What's she like, personality wise? Would she be open to compensation?

[they aren't going to beg anyone for charity, after all, and Emily can negotiate some kind of deal. with the influx of new doctors, she can take another regular shift at the club and cover the kids that way.]

[everblooms]

[ If Emily is starting to get the impression that Aerith's moments of consideration, of thought and careful handling of her words to be a little strange... that's certainly a thought.

Anyway, in truth, it dosn't take long to decide on the answer. ]

Do you want me to ask? I think she would, but... [ Leaning in a little more, she turns conspiratorial. ] She might scare some of them. Or... do you think that's for the best?

[medicative]

Intimidation doesn't seem a problem to me. They'll face plenty of those who are more so in their daily lives here. If she can get them to listen, all the better.

[she nods decisively.]

Please, ask her, Aerith. Let me know what she says - if she'll need convincing, I'll step in to aid on that front as well.

[everblooms]

[ With a laugh, Aerith waves a hand. ]

I don't think she'll need much convincing... But I'll have her down here tomorrow evening for saying hello, at least. She's good at keeping secrets.

[medicative]

Thank you, Aerith. This will be a great boon, and regardless of what she says, it gives me a new goal.

[she says it so seriously, before breaking out into a smile.]

Of course, no one's allowed to practice in the clinic!

[everblooms]

But it's the best place to train! We're right here for patching them up, you see.

[ Two can play this game. ]

[medicative]

We have fragile equipment, patients that need care, and a standard of cleanliness to uphold. No.

[she's not having training in her clinic!]

[everblooms]

[ hmm... ]

Guess we'll have to see about a training area. Maybe she'll know. [ Aerith gestures, as if measuring something out— ] Her muscles are this big, at least.

[ Totally. Definitely. (no.) ]
