[ Majima says it with a little bit of strain. He and the snake are having a problem, which only becomes noticeably apparent when he mutters warily, ]

[ Nope, it's over for him. The bowl is picked up and the entire thing is put down his throat with a couple scrabbling motions of the chopsticks. That's not how humans eat things and Majima gives a sputtering cough with his head tilted back. When he is able, Majima mutters thickly, ]

Fuck.

Hm.

[ The snake's voice returns with snide contemplation. ]

I am Chijoku, you are 'Andy'.

[killtime]

[ This display earns an arched eyebrow as Andy watches Majima inhale the product of her efforts in a manner that seems almost anatomically impossible. By the time she even has the passing thought to maybe do something — stop him, maybe? Fuck if she knows — he's already finished, leaving her to eye him with her cigarette idly burning between her fingertips. Well, fuck. Okay. Maybe he could eat an entire cow.

After a little pause, a bit unceremoniously — because she can't follow that scene any other way: ]

...That's what people call me. Among less flattering things.

[ Usually deserved, too. With a twinge of wryness, then: ]

If I'd known we'd be meeting, I might have tried to clean up a little.

[no_kyouken]

Oh, we have met... I am always here.

[ He knows every action and every word. ]

You're a lonely thing.

Joku, fuck off with this.

[ Majima interrupts wearily. ]

No, I don't think that I will.

[ So he just shoves Majima out of his way. He takes the body fully, sitting forward to look at Andy more closely, cold as a snake. ]

[ Something twitches her face at that — lonely thing, the snake says, and she can't help the way her eyebrows draw together ever so slightly. But she doesn't defend herself either. There's no point. He's not wrong. So, instead, she just takes another drag off her cigarette, her gaze steady as the snake scrutinizes her.

Maybe this should surprise her more. Maybe it would, if it had happened two months ago. Or if she were less fucking tired. Instead, a little dryly: ]

I'd thank you for keeping him alive if I didn't think you would've done it for yourself anyway.

[no_kyouken]

Thank me anyway, it is only polite.

[ Chijoku has a languid, crooked smile that shows one of his fangs. He finally takes the cigarette from behind Majima's ear and extends a hand for a light. ]

I might have done more, but the Ungaikyō really take a fascinating grip of him.

[ His worst enemy is himself. Chijoku laughs with bitter bemusement. ]

Even I cannot save him from himself.

[ Andy gives the snake another pointed little look — she knows they both know that manners aren't her strong suit. It doesn't take much time in her company to figure that out. But still, she obliges him, taking her lighter out of her pocket and flicking the small flame to life before leaning in to hold it out for him.

She knows it could have been worse. Maybe a lot worse.

Finally, a bit quietly — and maybe more sincerely than she expected of herself: ]

[ The snake smiles at her, like a bastard. ]

Aren't you welcome.

[ She could say something - some smart ass shit. The rotting gods know that Andromache of Scythia has never been especially good at holding her tongue. But she’s not so prideful as she seems, and her ego can tolerate a little bruising. The snake can have his way. She meant it, when she said thank you, and to bare her teeth now would take away from that.

Instead, she just puts her lighter away, tucking it back into her pocket. Then, with a quiet distance in her voice: ]

I would have done more, if I’d known how.
