Made a promise, Izo. Ain't goin' anywhere.

[ And that's simply the fact of it. He'll sit here in the garbage with him, if he has to. ]

[ Majima isn't the first person to say that and he probably won't be the last. It's still difficult, if not impossible, for Izō to understand. He's not worth that kind of trouble. Why would anyone actually want him around?

It's the same cycle of self-loathing it always is. He shoves Majima away and starts off towards the street. ]

Then I'm goin'. Quit tryin' t' find me...

Ya know I won't.

[ The pure force of his devotion has kept him alive long past when he would otherwise have given up. Saejima. Makoto. Izo and Emily. They deserve the best of what he has inside himself to give and there is nothing that is going to change his mind.

But when has talking to Izo ever solved a problem? That's never how they've communicated. So he just kicks him off of his feet. ]

[ He's tired and half-starved, so his instincts are not what they should be. Izō falls on his back with an indignant shout, grimacing as he rolls onto his side. Fuck, he'd almost forgotten about the whole getting shot thing until that moment. ]

...That's how it's gonna be, huh?

[ He doesn't have it in him to properly fight back. That doesn't stop him from trying. He lunges for Majima, much weaker than what he usually gives in their little scraps. ]

[ He knows a shitty fight when he sees one, but at the moment lacks another way to get across how serious he is. They end up on the ground, Majima's knees into his shoulders. He gives Izo a shake that probably bounced his head on the concrete a little, but that's how it be. ]

You're my brother, Izo. I need ya.

[ At least it's a new and different pain. It does wonders to settle Izō down. He stops struggling after a few moments.

Majima's words actually get through to him for once because they hurt in a different way. Izō's need to keep away from everyone sudden feels incredible selfish. His justification for his behavior is that it was for the good of everyone else. Now he questions that...It's doubtful anyone holds his frenzied behavior against him. It's not like any of it was truly his fault. ]

...Some brother ya got. Nothin' but a fuckin' coward...

[ There's the self-loathing again. ]

I don't care.

[ It comes out of Majima with hoarse strain and emotion. ]

I don't fuckin' care, Izo. Ain't no spare kyodai lyin' around, yer th'one that's been there every day.

[ Even Emily doesn't see all the bare day to day truths the way Izo does. There is a space that's just the two of them, trust and familiarity that isn't afforded to anyone else. It's entirely selfish: Majima doesn't want to lose the tiny scraps of peace he has. ]

[ Again, he hadn't considered anyone else in his decision. The way Majima speaks makes him keenly aware of that. That is something he missed more than anything, their little shared space. It was messy and they argued over petty shit, but it was still their space. They saw the ugly parts of each other, the little pieces they carefully concealed from everyone else. Their vulnerabilities were on full display because it was safe.

A safe harbor for each other. Izō needs that now more than ever; Majima probably does, too. ]

...Let me up. [ Quiet, apologetic in its own way. ] I ain't gonna run.

[ Now he just wants to hug Majima and apologize for hiding, for worrying him and probably everyone else, for everything. ]

[ He doesn't move immediately, not because he's worried about Izo running but because he is busy forcing himself not to cry. He's been through too much shit to still be crying about it. His shoulders are tense, breath heavy, but after a moment he sits off to the side. He sits back on his hands with his long legs settled haphazardly. ]

[ Izō is crying enough for the both of them. It takes him a moment to sit up, a moment used to scrub at his face to try to conceal the fact he's crying. It's a poor attempt, one made futile when he suddenly hugs Majima and buries his face into his shoulder. ]

'm sorry...

[ This isn't the first time he's cried on Majima like this, but it's definitely the hardest. He doesn't have the excuse of being drunk, either. It's just shame, exhaustion, and the trauma from the nightmares pouring out of him. ]

[ Honestly, sometimes Majima is relieved for Izo's tears. He can do it for the both of them and Majima can stay a little more in control, for the both of them. So he just hugs him back. ]

Listen t'me... There ain't nothin' you're ever gonna do that's gonna change my mind. Cuz I know who ya are, an' I love that. Even when he's fuckin' stupid an' messy. I'm pretty stupid an' messy too, 'case ya hadn't noticed.

[ He's crying too much and too hard to respond to Majima in the way he deserves. Izō hears him, though, and clings to him like a lifeline. A constant, consistent source of support, someone who actually makes him want to be a better person. It's hard to feel like he's worth any of the effort, but he's grateful for it, nonetheless. ]

Dunno what I'd do without ya...

[ It's going to take a little bit to collect himself after being so neatly shattered. When that time comes, he sits back with his head bowed and hands resting on his thighs. Shame still eats away at him. ]

C'mon, I'm tired. Em's gonna put us up until we can find another place, all right?

[ He gives Izo's filthy hair a tired pat and then hefts himself up, extending his hand. ]

[ He takes Majima's hand and pulls himself to his feet. He doesn't let go; holding his hand gives him an anchor. Another few scrubs at his face and he feels somewhat more stable. ]

...Yeah, alright. Better'n what I was doin'.

[ Izō doesn't want to face Emily after the way he ghosted her. He has to. Nothing is going to break the promise they all made to each other. ]

[ He will absolutely let Izo hold his hand the whole way back, he doesn't care. ]

Least we got rid've that fuckin' couch, huh?

[ Weary humor. He does fiddle out a couple of cigarettes one-handed. Might as well before they're back at Emily's place which they do try not to stink up. ]

[ The cigarette is very welcome. Izō laughs quietly. It's the first time he's felt like laughing since all of this started. ]

Yeah...an' that shirt'a mine ya hated. Guess we need a new couch...an' I need a new shirt.

We'll get a new place.

[ Majima makes a perfectly fine income, most of which gets hidden away with Emily and never spent. He doesn't mind dipping into the fund to put their lives back together. Why the hell else was it there. ]

Don't worry about it.

I ain't worried. Th' place don't matter...So long as we got each other.

[ Yes, he's still feeling pretty sentimental. Forgive him. ]
