[ Azem's been enjoying the day. She's been all over the place, experiencing anything and everything she can as it's all new to her. Even with all her seemingly boundless energy, she needs a break.

She settles down next to Majima with a lazy smile. ]

Hey. Tire yourself out already, hmm?

[ He clicks his tongue, air hissing on his teeth. Oh yeah, about that... ]

Got too hot. Went down like a rock.

[ He shades his eyes as he gazes out over the beach. It is actually pretty noticeable when you look at him: he clearly isn't sweating underneath all those scales. They're more pronounced than before, more layers with harder surfaces. His opalescent gleam is also more apparent. Of course he got too hot. ]

Fuckin' embarrassin'.

[ He doesn't sound that too put out about it actually, his acceptance of it all wry. ]

[starshepard]

[ Azem doesn't know a great deal about the biology of scaled creatures. Which might be a bit surprising for a being that has created concepts for living creatures. she does notice that his scales seem scalier. ]

Well, you know what might help that, don't you? [ A large mischievous grin spreads across her lips. ]

[ He laughs wearily, ]

Take it easy on me, clearly real fragile.

[starshepard]

Don't worry, I'll stick by you side.

[ She shifts, getting her feet under her before she quickly scoops him up and slings him over her shoulder like he's a very large sack of potatoes. As long as he doesn't put up a fight she rises easily and begins carrying him off toward the water. ]

[ He squirms a little and definitely outright squawks in surprise but it's deeply unlikely that Azem is going to do anything too untoward? Right? Probably? He huffs an incredulous laugh. ]

Geeze, forgot how strong ya are.

[starshepard]

[ Azem chuckles and continues on into the water until it's at least waist deep. Once there she lowers herself down enough to release him into the water. As she does she also casts a cure spell to help him feel a little better. With the bright sun it could easily be mistaken for a bit of sunlight glinting off of the water. ]

Feeling cooler already?

[ Well. He didn't even have to walk over here, so he's kept his promise to Emily not to do anything strenuous. It does get the wrap at his waist wet, which lets that hideous tiger-stripe pattern peer through the fabric. The absolute worst, but he just unknots the wrap and puts it over the back of his shoulders so that even with his head up he's still getting cooled. ]

That is pretty nice.

[ He agrees, smiling at them with dumb affection. ]

Doc probably won't be complainin' either.

[starshepard]

[ Azem smiles in return, letting a soft chuckle pass her lips as she watches Majima get comfortable in the water. ]

Good! You can cool off and we both avoid getting into trouble.

[ She reaches out to adjust the makeshift cowl. ] So what happened?

[no_kyouken]

[ He makes a faint, embarrassed noise. ]

Chijoku warned me this mornin' that snakes don't sweat, but I didn't get it.

[ Look, he's a middle school drop out. Expecting him to remember that snakes are cold blooded and what that even means was a lot to ask from him while he was also bustling around trying to help Gojyo. ]

So I get way too fuckin' hot standin' at th'grill out in th'sun an' just fainted where I was standin'.

[starshepard]

[ Azem's eyes widen in surprise. ] Really? I didn't know that, either.

[ She smiles and gently pats his shoulder, though the texture of the scales interests her so she runs her hand down his arm. ] Well, now you know.

[no_kyouken]

Yeah, well, just hopin' Toraguma don't call me over there t'play volleyball or nothin'.

[ He has a suspicion the oni probably wanted his top lieutenant over there to show off how much stronger he's gotten since he arrived here. ]

[starshepard]

Perhaps we just need to keep you too busy to get pulled into playing that game.

[ She grins as she slides her hand down to his and grabs it so she pull him toward the deeper water. ]

[no_kyouken]

Oh yeah, just hidin' behind th'girls so my boss don't find me.

[ But he does not resist actually and just squeezes her hands back. ]

That'll look real good.

[starshepard]

[ She laughs at that. ] He doesn't like me much, either. You probably shouldn't be seen with me.

[ And yet, Azem continues to pull Majima to the point where she can barely touch the bottom. ]

Hmm, might not be far enough out.

What did ya do t'piss off the old man?

[ A raised eyebrow, but he dips his head under the water briefly to soak his hair. It is significantly nicer being out in the water, she was right. ]

[starshepard]

Lets see... [ She taps her chin as she thinks it over. As she begins to list off the offenses she can't help but smile. ]

Well, there was that sumo thing. He didn't like that I beat several of his guys. And then there's the whole underground nonsense. I definitely sent a few guys running back with the tail between their legs and smashed bones.

And, while he can't prove I did a thing, he wasn't too happy about me tripping up an oni during volleyball.

Honestly, nothing that bad.

Guess he's just mad ya didn't end up on our team, huh.

[starshepard]

Could be. [ She laughs at that. ]

I do wonder why it is I ended up in Tamamo. [ She doesn't feel out of place, but she is certainly more of a fighter than she is anything else. ]

[no_kyouken]

Dunno, rather ya were on my team.

[ A fangy little smile. ]

But I can sneak around a little for ya.

[starshepard]

[ Azem smiles back at that. ]

Aw, you're so sweet. Though, yeah, it would make things easier. And as it is I seem to get on better with you guys.

[ She doesn't really have any friends within Tamamo. She seems to get on better with those in Shuten and Sutoku. ]

Th'Shuten guys are a pretty good bunch.

[ He likes them too. It's where he belongs. ]

[starshepard]

When they aren't trying to kill me. [ She laughs.

Then again, they had a rough time of their attempts. ]

Tamamo isn't bad. I just can't say I'm a perfect fit. [ She not glamorous or all that great at flirting. She doesn't understand fashion or half the things they do at all. ]

I dunno, I can see it. Yer a little too special t'be hangin' around Shuten.

[ Come on, the alien magic has a certain strange beauty to it. Of course Tenkohime wanted them. ]

[starshepard]

Azem barks out a harsh laugh at that.

Why? Because I have magic? I'm pretty average back home, you know.

[ That's underselling herself a bit. While she doesn't have the same set of skills as her friends (granted soul sight is very rare) and doesn't have the sheer amount of aether at her disposal like Emet-Selch, she's still rather exceptional. Though she is much more of a fighter than she is a mage. ]
