[ at first, the sound of nishitani's voice startles him and ryouma turns and... points a gun at him. his eyes are wild and unfocused and an unnatural shade of gold, at least for someone who otherwise appears human. the only reason he doesn't shoot is because he knows this isn't someone he knows. a stranger dressed like he is? probably not a ghost.

ryouma is alone at the moment, although the shadows around him have a tendency to move in a way that shadows aren't supposed to on their own. which is fine. ]

Go home. Ain't safe out here.

[ says the guy pointing guns at strangers but whatever!!! he's not wrong. and he's actually gotten a few people to run away like this, so it's working? in any case, ryouma is not really thinking clearly and so he's not really minding his accent either; the tosaben might sound familiar, seeing as he comes from the same place as izō. ]

[ Nishitani immediately steps back from Ryouma when the gun gets turned on him. Okay, okay, this makes the entire situation worse, and Nishitani looks over the balcony to the road below, wondering if he'd rather jump and maybe break his ankle or maybe get fucking shot. ] Why do you have a fucking gun? Give me that thing, you're going shoot yourself in the dick like that!

[ The shadows, the nightmares, haven't yet hit Nishitani. For now, he has his mind, the manic, intense energy of him fending off the worst of the energy pouring down on them. ]

What?

[ that seems to have diffused things enough that he's at least not going to shoot right now. so good job, buddy. for what it's worth, it's an old gun too. like an 1860s army revolver old gun. perfectly normal things.]

[ Nishitani will ask about the age of that gun later, because right now it's still live and Nishitani's been shot before, he's not exactly eager to do it again. ] Because you're not thinking straight, idiot. You'll get it back when you're not swinging shit around wildly.

[ so the gun goes back in its holster. look at his annoying smarmy face. ]

What d'ya want? I'm busy.

[ Nishitani wants to beat in this kid's fucking face for that comment, but for the sake of not getting fucking shot again, Nishitani bites his tongue. ] Busy what? Getting killed? I'll take you back to the Arena where it's safe.

[ that much is genuine in that he needs no compulsion to wander around out here for the sake of others despite great personal risk, but his delivery suffers. ]

[ Nishitani looks around Ryouma and clicks his tongue. ] Pal, you don't have any people around you right now except me. [ Okay, so getting this idiot to safety isn't going to be the easiest thing in the world. Fine. Nishitani loves a fucking challenge, especially when all hell is breaking loose. ]

If you want to protect people, you're gonna have to follow me.

[ the shadows do that thing again where they move when they shouldn't when nishitani points out that they're alone, like he (it?) wants to prove they're not. ryouma rolls his eyes a little. ]

What about yer wastin' my time didn't ya understand? Why should I bother followin' ya?
