Oh, yes. You can.

[unlocking the door, she opens it so that Aerith can come in and give her opinion on it. maybe the frills aren't right for her, or maybe not the color. she'll leave it to Aerith's discretion - but she also knows those scars are right there.]

[ When the door opens, Aerith eagerly comes in, face lit up with a brilliant level of excitement. The scars are the first thing she sees— raised and highlighted, the blossom across Emily's side in a way that reminds her of old, forgotten bouts of anger. They had once been deep set gashes, she thinks, a terrible wound likely all inflicted at once. She hums in a thoughtful sort of way. They must be at least partially why Emily's more set on a one piece, but the truth is that a bikini with a low back accentuates her figure well. The dip of her hips, the shape of her legs like long, willowy branches, scorched at the ends. The wings, too, even if that's something she's used to. ]

You look so pretty! [ It's a sincere remark, and as Aerith settles in closer to direct her to the mirror, she adjusts one of Emily's shoulder straps, just to make sure it doesn't come tumbling down with the movement. In the mirror is the reflection of two women, one younger and beaming without abandon. ]

I like the cut on your body. Maybe no frills. They look hard to swim in! Hmm... Are you set on a one piece?

[medicative]

[the compliment brings a little color to her cheeks - pretty said so sincerely with that light touch means a lot, and she modestly looks away, letting Aerith's assessment stand. it would be hard to swim with wings regardless, but that's something else to manage later - what matters is looking good to properly participate in this event.]

No, actually...it's just the most familiar thing to me. But are you sure? I don't want to end up in attire that doesn't truly suit me, in the end.

[everblooms]

[ A curious tilt of her head lets her look at Emily with a level of playfulness that she's likely come to expect from Aerith. ]

Aw, but you're sexy in a bikini!

[ Pulling away, Aerith thinks to herself that she wishes, earnestly, that someone like Madame M were here to help out. She knows how to make a girl really shine. ]

How about you pick the color, and we'll find another bikini? I got an idea.

[medicative]

[the word sexy deepens the blush on Emily's cheeks - she's not used to often thinking of herself in that light, and it's noticeable. but she's trying not to protest or minimize - that's not the point of today, and instead turns her mind to color.

it's true, blue seems to call to her, but...]

Why not yellow? That speaks most of summer.

[and she hasn't worn that color in quite some time.]

And then, we'll have to find something fitting for you as well.

[everblooms]

[ Yellow. A bright, chipper color— it speaks of the sun's rays. Fitting, she thinks, with Daitengu being the one behind the artificial sunlight they'll be finding themselves enjoying in a few short days. Aerith nods. ]

Right. [ Is that an agreement to letting her pick out Aerith's swimsuit? Perhaps yes. But Aerith dips out, slinking out on to the shop floor again. Something had caught her eye at the beginning, but Emily had struck Aerith as a wallflower... Now, though?

When she returns, it's with a yellow swimsuit with an open back. ]

I've got just the thing for you, Emily. Yellow's a good color for a beach party. The Daitengu is hosting the sun for us... since you're in Sutoku Alliance, what better color for you?

[medicative]

Oh, it's beautiful.

[it's a bright color, but there's a warmth to it, and she feels her heartstrings tug, yearn for it some. the open delight and desire is written across her face, and she takes it in hand, gently closing the door to try it on. this one doesn't make her stop and stare and criticize - the woman who wears this should be more confident, or at least try to be. it's a tall order, but she does open the door back up, so Aerith can see what her new idea looks like.]

What's your opinion of it now?

[at least she knows it would be a novelty.]

[ Emily is part monster— transformed by who-knows-what or always born that way, Aerith isn't sure. When she turns to drink in the sight of Emily, though, a smile dances across her lips in a slow movement. Her nose had been buried in a rack displaying sunglasses and jewelry. Accessories are a necessary part of the outfit, too, she knows. ]

It suits you.

[ There's a note of fondness bleeding warmly through her voice. Feather-light as always it may be, but it is still heavy with sincerity. ]

I really like it. What about you?

[medicative]

...It makes me feel like myself. But a more confident version of myself, if that makes sense.

[a version of herself that would actually wear something like this, and the smile that crosses her face is a little more real than what it might be otherwise. hopeful, really, that this will be a fun endeavor, and that it won't end in tears and flames again.]

I'm going to get it. And when I'm changed back, it's your turn, so be prepared for it.

[ What a surprise it is to hear such a comment from the demure Emily, with her straight-slicked back hair and tight posture. Aerith's expression twists in a playful manner, and her arms fold. ]

That a threat?

[ The lilting tone in her voice makes it clear this is a tease, of course. She'll wait, idly rolling back and forth on her feet in front of the dressing room. It still houses Emily's rejected swimsuits, as the employees give them space to shop. When Emily returns with her goods, she'll find Aerith with her hands behind her back in a relaxed post, humming. ]

[when she's redressed, she brings the swimsuit she's settled on to the counter so they can hold it, and then comes back to Aerith.]

Now then, tell me what you'd like me to keep in mind as I search for you. Any colors, cuts to stray away from, or the like?

[there's already a few in her head she'd seen and will have to find again, but part of the fun in this is keeping an open mind. perhaps something with a print, or a particular pattern...something that might set off the green of Aerith's eyes would truly be ideal.]

[everblooms]

[ The laugh she can't hold back bubbles out of her in a surprised manner before Aerith considers what Emily asks. A moment of deliberation later, she speaks, looking out into the ocean of vintage clothing— a mix of western and eastern influences peek back at her. ]

Not much. Just make me look pretty, okay? And maybe.... something under budget?

[ Her tone is joking, but surely Emily knows how tight money can be in Hell, especially. ]

[medicative]

[she nods, heading back to one of the racks to examine its offerings.]

No one needs to "make" you look lovely, Aerith, you do a fine enough job of that on your own.

[is pink too obvious? no, but it can't be her only thought....and Aerith is bolder, so she won't mind a two piece, but it still should cover her.]

[everblooms]

[ It is a good thing that Emily is looking away from her, in truth. Aerith does not blush quite as obviously as someone else might, but her cheeks do burn in a way that makes her nervous. She looks to the old, sticky carpeting of the shop, biting her lip. Emily's already gotten her back. ]

How about... you pick something like you like, then? I'll try it on for you.

[ Very subtle, Gainsborough. ]

Entrusting yourself to my sense of style? That's quite brave.

[whether she got the implication or not, Emily's eyes remain fixed on the clothes, and she takes one suit from one rack, then heads over to find another. one a lovely shade of rose pink with bows, one with light blue stripes and a rose pattern. both are more modern in their cuts, but she thinks they'll flatter the other woman, and offers them both out for her approval.]
