Yeah! Um... it's like a prison that keeps people honest with their emotions. When we perform, we can make it look like anything we want.

[ fields of flowers. a stage. a church-esque arena with huge stained glass windows. ]

[ vampires can't lie, he says. almost the same as how wizards can't make promises. intriguing. ]

What does yours look like, then?

A field. Full of blue flowers and grass and sunshine. A wide open sky...

[ he closes his eyes as he thinks about the last time he remembers performing with OZ. ]

... it was beautiful. I could hear the voice of every fan cheering us on. I've never had a more fun time in my life.

[ a pause, before robin opens up his eyes so he can smile at shylock. ]

Do you have a place like that? Somewhere you would feel safe and happy no matter what?

[ hmm. the scenery matches robin very well. shylock could tell how much this boy loves what he does. ]

I do. We call those certain places a mana area, actually. In my case, it is a winery. The dim space combined with the carefully preserved temperature and the efforts of the winemakers as their products sit in to age for hundreds of years... It is a place like no other.

[sweetsong]

A mana area... it really does sound similar, huh.

[ he rubs the back of his neck. it's nice that, though he's clearly no expert bartender or wizard, he still feels comfortable around shylock? a nice man?? certainly kind enough to give him an opportunity to work here. ]

Do you think I could ever see it? I've been in a few wineries before.

[breweries]

Do you mean mine? [ he shakes his head. ] It's long gone, Robin. But I make do any winery available, so long as they fit my standards.

[ that's the stark difference between the two. but anyway, since he'd just hired the young boy on the spot: ]

Now, then. Let's talk business about your stay here, shall we? [ he smiles. they have a lot to hash out, given how impulsive this has been. ]

[sweetsong]

Oh... that's kind of sad.

[ he'd hate it if he lost his own special place, but then again--- if he did, then that'd have some frightening implications all on their own. how else could he fight other vampires using music, swords, and feelings??? ]

And sure! I'll be happy to do whatever you ask. I promise I'll be your hardest worker.
