[Sheliak felt his careful mask slipping the more he spoke with Samatoki so he was relieved when Samatoki turned back to their mission and he followed his example. The sooner they finished this task the better. His eyes widened when he paid attention to the items on the shelf and he quickly took his hand away from something labeled kitsune tails.]

Indeed.

[What kind of nightmarish shop was this?]

They're probably called that because their appearance is similar.

[Right? Surely they didn't deal in real monster parts?]

[A shadow crossed over Sheliak's face at the horrific implications. As someone who was also not human the thought was chilling. He thought this place was safer than earth, as ironic as that sounded for somewhere that called itself hell. Luckily Samatoki provided him with a way to disguise his small shiver as something else.]

So do I.

[Sheliak scanned more labels with a quiet mutter.]

I've never liked the cold.

[A hint of annoyance replaced his unease. That reminded him of something and he suddenly pulled out a small bottle with what looked like white sand inside it.]

Didn't she say it would look like snow?

[It wasn't exactly the same, other than the color. Did he reach for the sand because it reminded him of home?]
