This is a post to facilitate shenanigans regarding the Underground turf war! Feel free to park your toplevels below and tag around!

Summary of what’s going on:
The Underground is the network of subterranean utility / sewer tunnels under the city, previously held by the Kappa tribe. After the April 2022 Event, the Underground has been cleared out by the Department of the Enma and is now mostly unattended.

The Tamamo Clan and Shuten Clan have received orders from their leaders to take over the Underground. Unfortunately, there's two of them and only one Underground, so the two clans are fighting over it. (Tamamo Meeting Log) (Shuten Meeting Log)

The Sutoku Alliance is not willing to fight for the territory, but are intending to work out a deal with whoever wins the turf war to get the kappa back to work. The Department of the Enma is also more interested in investigating the Daitengu’s assassination than the turf war, but that means their Lost Souls can bring popcorn and watch the show. [Just when Dante was about to join the fray after much deliberation, something hits him in the back of the head so hard that he's seeing stars. He can taste blood on his tongue or whatever fluid that constitutes as blood while he's in his devil form. It's a bitter almost acidic taste, one that still has the telltale metallic scent of blood. It takes him a brief moment to regain his balance but once he does, he quickly lets out a frustrated growl that gets immediately cut short once he realizes who attacked him.]

Bishop!?

[The betrayal is evident in his tone. He's completely blindsided by this sudden turn of events, his mind racing a mile a minute to comprehend what's happening here. He figured that Bishop wasn't particularly fond of demons but what's with the sudden blood lust? This is completely different from their time at the casino. It's like his buddy is a completely different person right.]

Whoa! Calm down!

[He puts up his hands in mock surrender once he put some much-needed distance between them. Dante is quite aware of what Bishop can do, and he's not looking forward to getting stabbed tonight.]

[ He fortunately didn't have anything sharp to introduce to Dante's gut but he does have his fist raised to strike at a point that will absolutely hurt. Until he hears the familiar baritone and he pauses, confusion evident on his face. ]

D-Dante???

[ He looks at him from head to...talon. Still curled in a defensive stance ready to block and counter is this is a trick. Although, demons like that don't raise their hands like that or back away. ]

Why do you look like a...a...

[ Like a that. ]

Like a demon?

[It's easy to finish Bishop's train of thought, especially since the guy looks like he's three seconds away from punching the daylights out of him. While Dante really doesn't have an easy answer for that, he settles on humor to help deflect the seriousness of it all. He just hopes that Bishop doesn't try to kick him again.]

You already know about the birds and the bees, right? Except instead of bees, replace 'em with demons.

[Terrible joke aside, Dante slowly starts to revert from his Devil form back to his usual wisecracking human self.]

And before you even ask--Yes, I'm a half-demon.

[That means mommy-dearest was human, buddy. Half-demons like him are a rarity even among demon kind. They're not supposed to exist but lo' and behold.]

Well,yeah I figured that out! But why do you look like that k-

[ He cuts himself off and swallowed his words. His mind raced, analyzing and comparing the facts he knows and the ones he's just received - or confirmed, rather.

He released his stance and started to return to the state Dante is used to. ]

....Nevermind. You okay? I got you pretty good.

Well, I have a nice boot-sized dent in my cranium now.

[He's joking, of course but there's nothing funny about the sudden migraine he has. While his healing abilities are second to none, even someone like him has their limits. He's going to take it easy for the next few minutes. The last thing he wants is for this migraine to get even worse.]

Besides that, I should be just peachy! But yeah, I was trying to stay incognito, man.

[So much for that shit, huh? Dante isn't triggering his devil form while Bishop is around. That's a definite "No" from him.]

So what's your deal again? You're a demon hunter, right?

[getting_better]

That I am.

[ The twinge of regret over what he did to Dante aside, he's glad that somehow he can still feel that primordial feeling. He hasn't lost his touch, he just needed that trigger to remind him that it's still there. ]

Hard to stay incognito when you light up like a furnace. But that's good card to have in your hand.

[ Dante's half demon nature wasn't hard to figure out, but the extent of his unholy lineage was surprising on many levels. But he was from another world, so perhap he shouldn't be too surprised. ]

Oh, cool! We're in the same business.

[Yeah, he's a cambion who hunts other demons. Isn't that kind of nuts? Dante and his less than merry band of friends are all that's standing between humanity's plight against the Underworld's nastiest critters.]

Fair enough but no one would've guessed I was some sort of biblical horror monster from hell.

[He's quite aware of himself, especially nowadays. He can't help but poke fun about it.]

Do you always do a flying drop kick first when you see a demon as ugly as me? Or was that a new move?

[Dante is almost tempted to find out first hand if Bishop humors him with a spar.]

No. I usually just shoot, stab, or cut them in half.

[ He's no longer of the 'the only good demon is a dead demon' mentality since people can be just as bad, if not worse, but he would still kill one with no hesitation. ]

Man, I could use a cocktail right about now.

[ Now that the adrenaline has subsided, the rage brought with it a fierce headache. ]
