Underground Turf War Catch-all! [OTA! Come toplevel!!!]
Who ⬤ Open to all!
What ⬤ Catch-all log for the Underground Turf War
When ⬤ Throughout April: Dates within
Where ⬤ The Underground
Content Warnings ⬤ Please tag any cws in individual toplevels / threads!

This is a post to facilitate shenanigans regarding the Underground turf war! Feel free to park your toplevels below and tag around!
Summary of what’s going on:
The Underground is the network of subterranean utility / sewer tunnels under the city, previously held by the Kappa tribe. After the April 2022 Event, the Underground has been cleared out by the Department of the Enma and is now mostly unattended.
The Tamamo Clan and Shuten Clan have received orders from their leaders to take over the Underground. Unfortunately, there's two of them and only one Underground, so the two clans are fighting over it. (Tamamo Meeting Log) (Shuten Meeting Log)
The Sutoku Alliance is not willing to fight for the territory, but are intending to work out a deal with whoever wins the turf war to get the kappa back to work. The Department of the Enma is also more interested in investigating the Daitengu’s assassination than the turf war, but that means their Lost Souls can bring popcorn and watch the show. (more info here.)

tamamo clan
She takes the bottle and nods. ]
Being ready for anything is almost impossible. Once you know what you're dealing with, it's not so bad.

Musashi hummed. ]
You've got your escape route memorized, right? And how to not trigger the traps yourself?
[ She did. Haruka had told her she did. And yet Musashi kept asking. ]
no subject
Right.
[ She's actually been thinking about how she can potentially trigger the traps offensively if she has to. She might not be a fighter, but she has enough spirit and she's more clever than people assume. ]
Do you think the war is going well, Miyamoto-chan?
no subject
[ Another thing she feels they've gone over before. Still, it helped her relax a little, sighing. ]
As for this situation... It's hard to say. We've had a lot of skirmishes so far, but it's really hard to tell who is closer to taking the territory. At some point you'd think the Shuten would just give up, with all the traps we have set up...

[ She's careful to keep her voice low still. ]
The underground is a pretty important piece of the city. It's an easy way to travel if people don't want to be seen and anyone who controls it probably has access to places people don't even realize, like the insides of buildings. My... an old friend of mine used to hide in the sewers when he didn't want to be found. It let him work without being interrupted.

[ Musashi chuckled, shaking her head. ]
I've heard a lot of folks in the clan dismissing the whole premise of the idea, fighting over an icky, stinky sewer and all. But from a tactical standpoint, this place is invaluable, even if the boss lady wasn't planning on converting it into a pleasure club.
no subject
[ Oh jeez, yeah, she can't help but remember that. ]
I'm sure the club will be really neat. I've seen a place done up like that before, but I didn't really get a chance to, um, enjoy it.
It was pretty to look at, though.

[ The modern world sure had a lot of wild things in it, huh? Then again, she supposed she shouldn't consider it that unusual. ]
We can also negotiate with the boss lady to get the Kappa their jobs back, too. Can't trust Toraguma to do anything like that, given his attitude.
no subject
[ She can't help but smile a little as she thinks back. Gosh, she was young. ]
There was a fighting ring, gambling, hostesses and more. Business men would come to have fun in secret.
[ She nods at the mention of the poor kappa. ]
I definitely think they'll have a better chance with the Tamamo. The lady was... I'm sure she's formidable, I could tell that much. But it seemed like she wants to let everyone have a place.
no subject
Yeah, Toraguma's an Oni's Oni. He feels responsible for the community, but there's no room for weak people in his own command... He'd probably give a bootstrap speech to the Kappa and expect them to fend for themselves.
Boss lady at least has ears open about alternatives.
no subject
[ The talk they'd had, short as it was, had had quite the impression on her. It helped that she couldn't help but compare her to Park-san in her mind. As a compliment. ]
no subject
[ Musashi sighed. ]
Like... I really don't like that you're down here, too, even if you've assured me you'll be fine.
no subject
[ Quiet. But firm. She's aware that's the case at all times, when it comes down to it. But they're a bet that can also win.
She lets out a breath. ]
I'm part of the family. That means I help the same as anyone else. I've been through danger before, I promise.
no subject
[ Musashi hummed, taking up another drink before setting down the canister and leaning in to ruffle up Haruka's hair some. ]
But... I'm glad you're here, either way, Haruka-chan. I feel like I've got a goddess of victory on my side.
no subject
I promise that when we finish, I'll do a victory dance for you, okay?
[ She nudges Musashi in return. ]
What should I be doing?
no subject
[ Okay, mostly teasing... Mostly. It was definitely not an appropriate time to to be making serious passes at her, regardless. And besides, she'd asked a question... ]
So I'll send instructions to your phone on how to activate the traps. Basically, all you gotta do is keep an eye out for Shuten guys and let us know their movements. But if one spots you, run 'em to one of these traps and activate them okay?
no subject
Maybe.
[ She's still adjusting to things like that, whatever her faction. But once Musashi gets down to business, she nods and pulls out her phone, holding it up to show that she's got it to check. ]
Got it.
no subject
Okay... And when we're done with out shift for today, how about we grab a drink?
[ "And maybe see about that private dance" was left unsaid, but... she did give a rather knowing wink. ]
no subject
All right. I found a nice bar not too far from my apartment. The bar mama likes me so she always adds a little something. Then I can share.
no subject
[ Musashi's laugh was more nervous, rubbing at the back of her head, realizing she'd forgotten to mention something very important. ]
I got a raise, you know? And my debt cleared! I can actually treat you for once!
no subject
Then we should definitely go out to celebrate your raise!
no subject
[ She takes one last swig of water, before letting out a cheer. ]
Let's get to work so we can get to partying later!
