[ What's that saying, you shouldn't count your eggs before they hatch? While he does have confidence in the skills of those under Tenko-hime's banner ... well. Actually. Thinking about it, he doesn't really know many Shuten clansmen. It's hard to gauge how this will go without more information. ]
I wouldn't be surprised if she does, though. [ he sighs; it's a gentle sound. ] Once they are released ... things will still be difficult for them.
[ Poor guys. While Chongyun still doesn't quite know what to believe regarding their involvement in the assassination, they are in a tough spot. It's all going to trickle down onto innocent heads, he's seen it before. ]

[ Part of her understands there's a political gain there; if Tamamo manages to take the Underground, she almost gets the Kappa tribe part and parcel with them. But for her, it was just... the right thing to do. ]
So we gotta win this, if only for their sake. Can't just leave them behind, you know? And I don't feel right putting my faith in others to manage it.
no subject
[ Does he think they’ll fall apart? Not necessarily. Maybe that’s the benefit of being a banner instead of being headed by one imposing figure; when one drops, someone else can grab the baton. But who is going to grab it, and when, and how?
Sutoku friends … good luck. ]
Do you know many Shuten clan members? I don’t, so it’s hard for me to get a read on them.

First is a guy I know from back where I come from. A sword genius by the name of Izo. In a blade-to-blade battle, there's no one that can beat him, but his big weaknesses all fall outside of that.
[ And then... ]
Also Dante, this bigger, older guy. He's got a lot of skills, too, and is really strong. Again, not someone I think anyone should take on single handedly.

[ However, from what she says, they're both talented fighters. Chongyun's no slouch when it comes to fighting, but ... well. It does seem unwise to go straight in knowing this, and those are just two of the Shuten clan. A spar with them sounds fun for training ... but in an actual battle?
He sighs again, leaning back in his chair. Advanced planning and tactics aren't really his thing so he's going to have to follow the guidance of more the more experienced tacticians. ]
I'm grateful that the Tamamo are clever. I'm happy to assist where I can.
no subject
[ Mostly because she could tell Dante was a pretty swell fella who wouldn't actively kill anyone he didn't have to. ]
But Izo?
... that guy will definitely try to kill you.

[ TENKO-HIME... this really is starting to sound like a bad idea!! Not that Chongyun has any plans to turn tail or not complete what seems like a commission, but still.
Well. No point in fussing over it. They'll figure it out somehow, right? Chongyun nods toward her, offering a little bow. Much as one a guy can do while still staying seated; normally he would stand out of respect, but his whole body is starting to catch up now that the adrenaline of the fight has subsided. It isn't the first time he's been in a fight against guns, but the guns the Fatui use are a bit different from the ones that had been used by the black-clad assassins. ]
My name is Chongyun, by the way. It is a pleasure to meet your distinguished self.
no subject
Shinmen Musashi no Kami Fujiwara no Harunobu... But you can just call me Musashi, alright? It's nice to meet you, too!
[ Somehow, the idea of "distinguished" made her think of her full name... but she didn't really have much care for that noble heritage. Her dad had disowned her, anyways. ]
no subject
[ Though his expressions had been fairly even-keel before, he offers her a little smile now. Not broad and with no teeth, just a little slant of lips and crinkle between his brows. A gentle look. ]
As fellow Tamamos, I hope we can get along well going forward. [ he glances at her arm again and gestures, ] How are you feeling? I hope the wound isn't too bad.
no subject
Oh, it's nothing I can't handle! I had a real White Angel taking care of me, and if I follow her instructions, I should be good as gold soon!
[ Though probably not soon enough to help with the clan's plans for the Underground, or at least not help the way she'd prefer to. ]
no subject
[ You know... reaching the water pitcher on the table, or if she needs a hand to hold something since she only has one. His shoulder might ache, but thankfully he isn't actually down an arm for a bit. It must be frustrating! ]
Did she say how long recovery might take?
[ How bad was the hit ... ]
no subject
Well, she said I should see her for a follow up, but I know for a fact she got the bullet out as clean as she could. I'd be in a lot worse shape, otherwise.
no subject
Right. Those bullets ... luckily two just grazed me.
[ They'd been a bit strange; Chongyun remembers that at the mention, but doesn't say anything about it. That's something he plans to dig deeper into later. Regardless of that, they'd been painful! A full-on hit... he doesn't relish the thought. ]
How many did you fight? If you don't mind my asking.
no subject
[ She leaned back in her chair again, gaze drifting to a patch of nothing in the middle distance. ]
That's the thing. I didn't actually "fight" any of them. They fired into the crowd I was with and I had to protect them, so I just got in the way, trying to deflect bullets.
[ Which she'd realized, at the time, was foolish to even attempt with her reflexes as dulled as they were. ]
no subject
[ He goes quiet for a moment, lips thinning in thought. Those men—they really had been willing to take anyone down, hadn't they? Just firing into a crowd like that. He'd been there to help during the fight and aftermath, but not during the initial crack of assault. It might be the spirit realm, Hell, whatever you want to call it, but it's nothing like he'd expected.
People still get hurt. ]
That's even more important.
no subject
[ She didn't like to paint it as heroics, even if acts like that were precisely why she'd been selected for the Throne of Heroes, at least partially. The type of person she became in battles like that barely felt human, even if the reasoning could be argued as "noble"... ]
no subject
[ Is it really a matter of heroics and being noble, or just the right thing to do? Who knows how many casualties there would have been if there had been nothing between those people and guns firing freely.
He takes a sip of water himself. ]
I imagine you look brilliant with a blade. Ruthless, maybe, but mastery of skill ... I would like to see that very much, sometime.
no subject
When my arm's recovered, I'll be sure to give you a demonstration! Or even a spar, if you're up for it.
no subject
[ Tenkohime, from his (admittedly little) experience at least seems willing to listen. He knows way less about Toraguma, but it's not like he'd listen to the suggestions of a beginner rank Tamamo. ]
We can do it.
[ Of course, that isn't just naive optimism. But if they don't have that energy, how the hell are they going to manifest anything? ]
