un: majima Get yer asses up an' come to th'White Koi by 7. It's on Shuten turf, corner of Bunyudomachi. We're meetin'. ![]() [ The bar is almost exclusively Shuten members, most of them wearied with nightly patrols and clashes. There's plenty of muttering and chatter about the recent assassination, with the common complaint being 'fuck I have to get my funeral suit out of storage'. Majima points lost souls into a slightly more secluded room done up in the titular white koi pattern. ] Siddown, who's heard what. [ He is also weary and bruised from some fights, leaning back against the wall with a cigarette and a drink. ] 🐍 This is a mingle, sure they got together to talk info but they're Shutens so it's assumed they're going to get drunk, yell, and throw hands. 🐍 Lordy please do whatever you want, I'm not the cops. 🐍 OOC info collection 🐍 Toraguma's orders |

It helped in a world like this that gambling was his specialty. It also helped that a luck-youkai possessed him.
It also probably helped that he was a pro at counting cards.
And so, as the bartender brought out the bottle, Gojyo poured some out for the both of them. Quietly sliding the glass back to Majima without much of his usual quips.]

Watching a bunch of people with no clue causes him immense stress for their safety. He both wants to distance himself from it as much as possible and can't because he's going to be promoted and told to keep them in line. Fuck. ]
Thanks.
[ While moody, he at least retains some manners. ]

[It wasn't like Gojyo didn't have money to spare these days. The least he could do was spend what he didn't need to treat his new Shuten 'brothers' when he felt like they needed it.
He lifted his glass to his lips as he took a light sip, savoring the smooth taste of whiskey. It was a nice contrast to the bitter company.]
This place is pretty damn different from Hakagemachi. Certainly didn't have to deal with all this social nuance back then.

Yakuza's its own world. Don't respect that an' it's an offense.
[ That's probably the cardinal rule. Don't come to the yakuza trying to play your game, because there's only one game in town and it's theirs. ]

[He offered a simply hum of his voice with that. Letting the words sink in. It wasn't like Majima was wrong after all.]
Never was in any of the offical stuff growing up. Most wouldn't dream of taking in a guy like me. Didn't mean I haven't skirted the lines though. Probably for the better as I did my best being the 'side-guy' instead.
[Didn't mean Gojyo didn't understand the implications of it all though. He had seen enough guys get into similar organizations enough times over to know how it usually ended up.
And even with just skirting the lines he had ended up facing the barrel of a gun more times than he could count.]
It's cute that you're so damn worried about everyone like you are though.
[He let out a wry smile with that.]
Despite what everyone outside Shuten says, Toraguma ain't no idiot. Pretty sure he knows what he's signing up for in recruiting all these socially blind outside-world newbies like he is. Probably plans on eventually even teaching them the hard way himself.
In the end, if people are gonna be idiots though, they gotta learn their lessons themselves, yeah? You're going to end up getting a fucking aneurysm if you keep stressing over it like you are.

I'll be fine.
[ That's the piece out of all this that he picks to respond to. He joined the yakuza knowing what was up, he's going to die bloodied on the street long before he has an aneurysm. ]
(cw; mention of suicide)
[That face doesn't stop Gojyo's own tired smirk for an instant.
But he knows better than to pry into peoples lives when they aren't offering. That would just be rude as shit. Besides, he had more than enough of his own lies to keep to himself. But that was perhaps as plain as the scars that marred his face, even if they were a little better hidden with scales these days.]
Just, don't take it all on your own damn shoulders when shit does hit the fan. Last thing we need is our one fully experienced 'yakuza' to get fucked over just cause he's going around carrying the weight of those who are digging themselves into trouble.
There's a difference when it comes to being helpful and being suicidal.

[ He pulls on his cigarette without changing expression at all. ]

[He is offering the most tired, half-hearted attempt at a playful wink and peace sign right now.]
Seriously though, it would be a pain in the ass if you kick it over something so stupid. And you own me a ton after all the trouble you've put me through.
no subject
[ Majima does not agree he is really the problem in either situation. But he's long since given up bickering that point. ]
no subject
[You can deal with it, you punk.
He leaned back in his chair with a deep sigh, his head tilting back as he looked up at the ceiling. Digging around in his coat pocket to pull out his cigarettes.]
So, how long do you think it will take before all the lighthearted fun and games start hitting the fan, and the clans start taking the trainers off us newbies?
[It was a cute welcoming ceremony. The lights, the party, the assassination, and intrigue, but Gojyo knew how non-glamorous it was.]
no subject
[ The eager to prove themselves young men are always the first to bleed. ]
no subject
[Gojyo chuckled as he shook his head slowly. He knew better than to trust anything that felt too good.
Especially a 'hell' that was more heavenly than anything he had experienced in his life so far.]
But isn't that all the more reason we should enjoy the good drinks and fun times while we have them?
no subject
Always. Why ya think yakuza guys blow all their money on food an' drinks?
no subject
[With that, he lifted his leg, playfully leaning out to kick at Majima's chair.]
Then why're you going around sulking and brooding like a downer at a party where we're all meeting up? We're all 'yakuza' together now, yeah? And you set this all up so that we can enjoy ourselves while we sort shit out?
Ain't life too goddamn short for 'disposables' like us to spend it crying?
no subject
Probably because I miss my brothers and y'all are sorry substitutes.
[ He's joking, mostly. ]
no subject
It isn't like you're the only one with 'brothers' that he left behind.
[He tossed his head back, motioning to the group of guys all gathered in various sorts of discussion behind them.]
It isn't like you're the only one here missing people back from your original world, you know? Instead of sulking around like a fucking loser, ain't it better to maybe get over yourself and realize that we may just all be in that same damn situation.
Well. Maybe most of you.
[He paused.]
My 'brothers' back home were all dicks, so I'm alright with this.
[He says. Like a liar.]
no subject
[ Mild rebuke as he sinks back tiredly in his seat. He's never going to explain to anyone why he's such a sad, tired, sack of shit; so they may as well just not. ]
Let ya know when I want yer advice.
[ Probably never. ]
no subject
[He sighed out rather dramatically. Really, how was he supposed to respond to something like that?]
Just. Try not to get so caught up in your homesickness that you forget all of us 'sorry substitutes' following your lead, all right?
no subject
Yeah, sure.
