but her question does give him pause. that's probably something the exorcists have an answer for, but for shylock he'll need to think on this deeply. ]

[ for shylock, there has always been two types of people. he tries to be accepting and understanding enough, but it seems that he still has a lot to learn. although doesn't that mean that poor nia has gone through the same thing herself? ]

Not when the Department exists. [ he chuckles. ] But too much order can be hell in and of itself as well. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of chaos every now and then, in my humble opinion.

he turns to look at nia's transfixed expression, then the skies above. ]

I understand. Even fireworks can be deadly if mishandled. [ his voice is rather quiet here, but he does his best in sticking close to nia so that she can hear him. ] They may look and sound terrifying now, but the fact that they come and go in mere seconds makes it all the more important to cherish them. The patterns they make in the skies right now won't be the same ones you'll see next time, and the next.

[ even the mini fireworks murr makes don't look the same every time. ]

( he's so smart... she agrees; there's no way a world with no chaos at all would work out. order is fine, to an extent; when they start to infringe on personal freedom, though, that's when it becomes a problem.

but, well, that's neither here nor there. she stares at the sky; at the colorful explosions, and thinks that maybe it's not so bad here, after all.

Nothing lasts forever. That is a fact of life. But people's feelings don't disappear just as quickly, and I'm positive that you'll remember this moment for a very long time.

[ he doesn't know if someone like nia has a long lifespan like he does, but that much is true for most people from all walks of life. ]

Oh, here's an idea -- I believe these smartphones have these built-in devices called a camera? It would help preserve this moment for much longer.
