What ⬤ post-event emergency meeting
When ⬤ several hours after the assassination
Where ⬤ konoha — vip area
Content Warnings ⬤ none right now but will update as needed!

[ once the dust (steam?) has settled, an sms goes out to fellow sutoku alliance contacts. some might recognise the username rider more than others and know the man it's attached to but in any case, everyone who shows up will know him soon enough anyway. ]

Hello!

There's a lot of confusion right now, but what's important is to stay calm and not do anything hasty. I'll be organising a meeting tonight at Konoha. Let's exchange what we know and discuss next steps. You're going to have to pay for your own refreshments though, sorry! Space is on me though! (*_ _)人

Don't be discouraged! We're only getting started. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

If you think there are any other Sutoku who haven't gotten this, pass the message along, ok?

— Rider

[ someone has to keep the spirit of the daitengu alive, okay?? the message also comes attached with a calendar invite. ]

[ later, anyone arriving for the meeting will be directed to the club's VIP area and encouraged to place food and drink orders as desired. this has definitely set ryouma back, but under the present circumstances, there's no better time than this to spare no expense, right? ]

ooc; this is a mingle in addition to a general sort of information sharing prompt so feel free to throw your own top levels up and thread amongst yourselves! i give everyone free rein to threadjack as you see fit — just check with other individual players if you have any questions!
☆ i left the exact time of the meeting sort of open, but assume it's sometime within the next half-day or so after the assassination to account for people needing to finish up investigations, potentially heal up a little after fighting, time for him to book the club, etc. feel free to have characters wander in late too!
☆ i also provided the option for characters to phone in (since it was mentioned to me on the ooc post), so if they can't make it in person they can still be in the loop!
☆ any non-Sutoku tag-a-longs are assumed to be showing up late so as not to be sitting in on private discussions earlier in the night.

You have a point there. The fate of an entire population of people shouldn't rest on one person's shoulders.

[ But at the same time, Kim's a realist; he knows that all too often, especially when the leader is a force of personality, that is the case. He hasn't seen it happen personally - in his lifespan, every leader that has been appointed in Revachol had been one tepid MoralIntern plant after another - but he's read plenty about it. The Daitengu's conduct did not make it seem as though that were the case, but he cannot judge another land's politics on his own understanding of what does or doesn't constitute a good leader.

He takes a handkerchief out of his pocket to wipe down his glasses, sighing. ]

The longer this goes on, the more difficult it will be to discern who's in charge. I can only imagine every opportunist out there will be eager to take advantage of this, regardless of whether or not they caused it. But Enma was the fastest to spring into action, and the fastest to isolate the area from the clan it technically belongs to. That we've listened is simply trusting in their authority. [ At the same time, it doesn't sit right with him to unilaterally suspect them; he was a cop himself, and likely would have done the same thing if it had been up to him. ]

What makes you believe that the Daitengu isn't really dead?

In fairness, they didn't call themselves that. I'm calling them that.

[ His tone is dry as the desert -- it's hard to tell if he's joking or not. He may, quite possibly, find himself a little amusing. Nobody will never know whether that's the case or not. Whether Kim himself blames them or not for being opportunists is yet to be seen, largely because Kim doesn't know where he stands on the matter yet. To understand the world he was born in took a lifetime. To figure out the political history and cultural mores of an entirely different dimension entirely will take more than a month. For all he knows, the Daitengu was an enormous piece of shit who deserved everything they got, and the opportunists are simply capitalizing off of territory that should have been theirs in the first place.

But regardless of his personal feelings, he still nominally belongs to the Sutoku, and his fate is intertwined with theirs. Which is why everyone is here, of course. They have no attachment to their clan beyond what it means for them personally. ]

To accomplish that, we'll need to find a good information broker -- and one that we believe is both objective and trustworthy instead of simply telling us what they want us to believe. It's unfortunate that this happened well before any of us could make any meaningful bonds with the community. We really don't know where we stand here.

[ He drums his fingers against his knee. ]

But everything you say about the Daitengu being anonymous -- that's why they chose the assassination to take place in such a public way, where every leader could see it happen with their own eyes, yes? Otherwise, they could replace the Daitengu with someone else, and we'd be none the wiser. Whoever did this didn't just want the Daitengu out of the picture: they wanted to cause political instability.
