[He says that with all the confidence that he will actually be able to manage it. Pay no mind to the fact that he doesn't actually have his magic back in enough of a capacity to dispel any ghosts.

But he's going to stand up and hold his hands out in front of him, palms facing upwards. Then he's going to say a whole lot of stuff that sounds like chanting, but unless Majima happens to know Finnish then he's going to know fuck-all of what Lalli is saying. But the chanting continues for a good 20 seconds or so, and it sounds very practiced. Like a mantra, almost.

Magically it does absolutely nothing, since Lalli doesn't have his actual "tell ghosts to fuck off" magic yet. But it will probably at least spook any ghosts enough to back off because he sounds like he means business even if he doesn't have the power to back it up right now. So maybe they'll get a few minutes of quiet by sheer coincidence.]

[ God he has no idea what's going on, but the effort is endearing. He probably shouldn't just sit here like a fucking sad sack. He exhales heavily, shaking it off and pushing himself to his feet. Maybe there's still a little disgruntled whispering from ghosts who aren't sure what's happening either, but it's enough of a distraction that Majima and these spirits are parting ways. ]

That's pretty good.

[ He brushes off his pants. ]

Wanna get somethin' t'eat, kid?

[ He's not cheerful or lively, but he's up. ]

Mhmm. Let's go to a stall.

[He likes all the fried foods you can find during this season. The crispy texture does wonders compared to the stickiness he's found a lot of Japanese foods have.

It's also him trying to tug Majima away from the trees and the whispering that is found there. I won't call it subtle because Lalli is not being subtle at all.]

[ An undignified huff of laughter as he's tugged off. ]

[ At least there is food here. Hakagemachi had been getting fucking grim in that regard as more and more of the town was washed away by the Lake Spirit. ]

[Taiyaki. He means taiyaki. Lalli has learned to appreciate having actual food here, compared to Hakagemachi where he lived on twinkies and instant ramen (and then nothing at all for a little while at the end, when food was scarce), but fuuuuck if he remembers the names of most of them.]

[ He fiddles around with his free arm for his pack of cigarettes, that should help liven him up a little bit. ]

[It's not too surprising for him, the department is kind of like the military and he's been in the military for years.]

[ Enma's unfortunate, but maybe he'd rather more people had ended up there instead of getting shuffled into these other gangs they don't know anything about. ]

Shuten. Ain't surprised, I was yakuza back home too.

[ He spots the stall and directs them that way, the pancake smell getting stronger as they approach. He asks for two and stands back to wait while the batter gets dished up. ]

['Kissa' is supplying him a definition, but it's making Lalli frown in confusion.]

[Oh but that smell is nice, and Lalli has to fight to stay focused on Majima and not distracted by food.]

[ He confirms it without any particular enthusiasm or pride. There was a time when he was proud, ambitious, fearless. He was stupid then too. ]

Swore up when I was a teenager.

[ And now he sits wearily behind a cigarette, one eye short. ]

[Lalli can get that Majima doesn't treat this with pride, which just forms further questions.]

Nobody else wanted me for nothin'. All I'm good at is fighting. Me an' my bro figured if that's how it was gonna be, we might as well be good yakuza. Maybe die with a name for ourselves, instead of dead in a ditch somewhere.

[ Saejima made a name for himself, and he'll probably die in jail. Alone. Majima had wanted nothing more than to get back to Tokyo to wait for him, but now he's here instead and he doesn't know what that means for either of them. ]

Didn't really work out like that.

[Well. 'We had a plan but things went wrong' is something Lalli relates to, so he gives Majima a hum that sounds understanding.]

Things never work out how you plan for them to. That's everyone's truth.

[Even Lalli's. And he's the one left alive to carry the burdens of 'plans gone wrong'.]

[ They get called for their order, so he turns his head. He stubs out his cigarette along the rim of a garbage can and takes the two trays. He offers out the hot thing to Lalli. ]

Ya got everythin' ya need in town?

[Well, now that he has a fresh Taiyaki in his hands, he'll just take a big bite out of it before nodding. He can't complain too much, all things considered. But after he swallows his bite, he'll say more.]

My apartment here is better, even if it's farther away from Izo's.

[He used to just life a couple floors under Izo, now they're in separate parts of the city. It makes traveling to visit more difficult.

Also I had to go back and check to make sure that this thread is before he found out Izo and Majima are living together lol]
